How to import a scan
The method you should use to import a scan depends on the type of data you have. Data types include:

CLN/DAT - from scanGogh I or II and some other Canfit Scanners
VRSF - from scanGogh II
STL - from another scanning system
The method for importing each data type is described below.
1.
CLN/DAT Files
• Click the “Load Scan” button in the PATIENT TAB
• Locate and select the CLN file that is saved on your computer
(The DAT will be loaded with it automatically) (Image 1)

• Select the patient that the scan belongs to, or create a new patient
• Name the scan appropriately
• Select the appropriate Shape Information (Image 2 - Red #3)
o Select the shape type (AFO, AK, Body Jacket, etc)
o Select the side (what side of the body was scanned)
• Click “OK”

VRSF File
• Click the button labelled “ACAD Import” in the PATIENT TAB
• Locate and select the VSRF file that is saved on your computer
• Adjust the Alignment
o Click on “Fine Align Controls” (Image 2 - Red #1)
o Click on the shape in the axial window - move the shape until it is centered on the
black vertical axis (Image 2)
Repeat this step in each view: Front, Side and Top - to change the view, click
on the tabs at the bottom of the axial window
• Adjust the Shape Axis
o Click on “Enable Axis Controls” (Image 2 - Red #2)
o Click and drag Axis points so the blue line – the Shape Axis - is centered within the shape

o To add extra points, click on the Shape Axis where no point exists – this helps to
form the axis in shapes that have a significant bend
• Select the appropriate Shape Information (Image 2 - Red #3)
o Select the shape type (AFO, AK, Body Jacket, etc)
o Select the side (what side of the body was scanned)
• Click “OK”
• Select the patient that the scan belongs to, or create a new patient
• Name the scan appropriately
• Click “OK”

STL File
• Click the button labelled “ACAD Import” in the PATIENT TAB
• Locate and select the STL file that is saved on your computer
• Select the appropriate unit of measure - inches or millimetres (Image 3 - Red #4)
• Adjust the Alignment
o Click on “Fine Align Controls” (Image 2 - Red #1)
o Click on the shape in the axial window - and move the shape until it is centered on
the black vertical axis (Image 2)
Repeat this step in each view: Front, Side and Top - to change the view,
click on the tabs at the bottom of the axial window
• Adjust the Shape Axis
o Click on “Enable Axis Controls” (Image 2 - Red #2)
