How to install Aspen How to install Aspen – Windows For the purpose of installing Aspen and its prerequisites NOTE: a VPN connection to the University network is required in order to install or access the Aspen software offsite. Staff: \\storage2.eng.unimelb.edu.au\software\Aspen 7.3 Students: \\storage1.eng.unimelb.edu.au\labdata\Aspen 7.3 (Approximate size is 7 GB – this may take over an hour to transfer and is best transferred via wired network at the university) Or You may borrow a copy of Aspen from the library. 2. On the Instance Name screen confirm that the “Default instance” is selected then click Next. Follow the installation until Finish. Navigate to Aspen 7.3\Aspen Engineering DVD1\3rd Party Redistributables\Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 Double Click dotNetFx35.exe 3.2. Restart your computer after installing the prerequisites. 4. Install: Aspen 7.3 4.1. Navigate to Aspen 7.3\Aspen Engineering DVD1\dvdBrowser and double click. It will prompt for a valid license, follow the installation until you get to the License Configuration Type screen. Select License Server and Click Next. Follow the prompts until you get to Feature Selection for Aspen Engineering V7.3 screen. Select the products that you wish to install and click Next. Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering note: Undergraduate students will only require the Process Modelling (HYSYS) feature. The sub feature of Aspen Simulation workbook is not required. Follow the prompts to install and once done select Finish. Select Aspen Engineering (for Upgrade) and Click Install. Follow the prompts until you get to Feature Selection for Aspen Engineering V7.3.1 screen. Select the products that you wish to install and click Next. Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering note: Undergraduate and Master’s students will only require the Economic Evaluation feature. 5.5. Follow the installation onwards until Finish.
