How to add Prime to the Zinwell ZMX-7500 & DSE 7500 Please keep a copy of these instructions for future reference and read them completely before starting. Before starting, please confirm that the green signal bar that appears for a short time at the bottom of the screen when you change channels is 100% on both TV1 and TV3. If this green bar is less than 95% on TV1, step 5 below may fail. These instructions assume you are familiar with the instructions in your User Guide for entering Passwords etc. The default password is “0000” unless you have changed it. If “0000” doesn’t work, use “1269” instead. The password will revert to “0000” after a Restore to Defaults. 1. Carry out a Restore to Defaults. Instructions can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/zinwell-nz Skip this step if the green bar mentioned above on TV1 is not 95% or higher, or is varying up and down (otherwise you may lose some or all of your existing channels). You may also skip this step if your existing channel list is correct. 2. Check the date and time are correct. During daylight saving you may need to manually set these and instructions are available from the link above. (This step can be carried out last if more convenient) 3. Go to menu option System Installation, Add Satellite. With Optus D1 selected, firstly check the correct LNB setting to use is. Scroll down to LNB No. and using the left and right arrow keys, check if LNB 1 (11300) or LNB 2 (10750) shows the 100% yellow signal bar at the bottom right of your screen. The one that shows the yellow signal bar is the one to use in the next step 4. Return to the Satellite field at the top of the screen, use the right and down arrows, followed by Ok to select User Satellite. Scroll down to LNB No. and select the LNB number you found in the last step. (There will be no signal indication at this stage) Press Ok to exit and save. 5. Go to menu option System Installation, Auto Tune. Select User Satellite, confirm the LNB No. determined above is correct, set the Start Freq. to 12480 and the End Freq to 12486, cursor down to Polarisation and use the right arrow button to change this to Hori, and press Ok. (Ensure you are not on Optus D1 or you may lose existing channels). Wait until you see a brief message Tuning Complete, press OK and save. (If you see a message Tuning Failed, refer to the separate instruction sheet “ZMX-7500 Instructions to add Prime didn’t work”.) The receiver will start scanning and after about 30 seconds the TVNZ channels (including Maori) will be duplicated. Press Ok and confirm Save. Exit. 6. Go to menu option System Installation, Select Edit TP. Select the Transponder Frequency (TP) from the new user satellite you have just added, labelled *12483 (it will be the last on the list – if you pick the first one listed by mistake, you will lose some of the existing channels and will need to start again from step 1 with a Factory Restore). Change the new Transponder Frequency (TP) from *12483 to 12707, confirm the Symbol Rate (SR) is 22500, Polarisation is H (Horizontal), press Ok and save. (Note: you will see the yellow signal bar as soon as you enter 12707 above). * this may be displayed as anything between 12480 and 12486 instead of 12483 if your LNB is slightly off frequency 7. Wait for the receiver to return to normal TV. You may see a brief message “Service Not Collected”. Scroll through the channels until you find the first duplicate channel that has no signal e.g. This will normally be 9 Maori Television. After a short time you will receive a message showing “Audio Video Not Available” and confirming you are on the User Satellite and TP 12707 MHz 8. Go to Menu, Channel Manager, and Edit Channel. Enter the new Audio PID 1101*, Video PID 1001* and PCR 8190, using OK to save and the arrow keys to move between fields. After saving all the new PIDs, press Exit. You now have Prime on Channel 9, however the banner at the bottom of the screen will still show this as Maori. *If you are located in the Central or South region you can substitute the appropriate PIDs from the Table below to match your region. PID Prime North Prime Central Prime South Audio 1101 1102 1109 Video 1001 1002 1009 PCR 8190 8190 8190 9. Go to Menu, Channel Manager, and then Channel Organiser to manually change the channel name. With the new channel highlighted, press 5 to rename it. Use the Audio button to delete the existing channel name at the top and then with the down arrow button, select the line with “P” on it. Press 5 to enter “P” and 7 to enter “R”, moving the selected line up or down as required to select the remaining letters. When you have finished adding the new channel name PRIME, press OK to save. To tidy up and delete the remaining duplicated channels you don't want, re-enter the Channel Organiser. Select the duplicate channels you are to remove one by one and press 4 to mark each with an X. Channels to be deleted will not have TV video displaying in the back ground, just a black screen and assuming you used 12480 and 12486 in step 5; the channels to mark for removal are: 10, 11, 13 & 14. Once you have marked the channels to be deleted, press OK to complete the deletion. Note: The Electronic Program Guide feature will not operate from the new Prime channel that you have manually added. You can however view Prime’s EPG from one of the regular Freeview channels See also: “ZMX-7500 Instructions to add Prime didn’t work” and “ZMX-7500 - How to Add Other FTA Channels” if you would like to add C4 or Trackside Graham Wilson Email: [email protected] Web: http://tinyurl.com/zinwell-nz Last revised: 13th November 2013
