Tigershark Swim Team Registration 2012 Welcome Back Welcome to the 48th year of Tigershark Swimming. It promises to be a season of high optimism and expectations. With a veteran squad returning and the influx of strong new swimmers, the 2012-2013 swimming year will be another year of new team standards and personal achievements. We will continue to achieve individual and team improvements, and strive to be the best YMCA team in the Midwest United States! Registration All returning families must register for the upcoming season. Follow this link to begin your registration or go to the Tigershark website, www.pcytigersharks.com. We are asking you to please register online as soon as possible but by September 24, 2012. Please be aware that all accounts are re-set to inactive until registration is complete. Your account email and password will remain the same, but you will not be able to sign up for meets until your account is active. Your team dues must be paid either by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) if you wish to pay over 6 months, or in full by cash or check. When you complete your online registration, you will be directed to return a copy of your Registration Packet (Code of Conduct & Payment Form) and Invoice. The Parent Board and Coaching Staff has worked very hard to be frugal with the team funds and are proud of our cost effectiveness. The Administration and USA Registration fees will now be charged with the annual fees at registration. This means that these expenses will be included in your EFT. Fundraising Fund Raising Requirement: $200 per Swimmer - Due December 31, 2012. There are many options for fundraising that will take place during the Fall. Swimmers have the ability to raise the entire amount, or the freedom to pay by check. Payment Options All families have the choice of Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) to pay over a 6-month period or payment in full at time of registration. Meet Fees Escrow Account Those families who would like to use EFT to pay their monthly expenses as well as annual team fees. You select the amount you want to add to your monthly EFT payment to offset your expected meet entry fees. The account will be reconciled at the end of the season. To determine the amount to have charged, check your prior years’ statements or average $25/month. Fundraising Escrow Account This year we are offering a Fundraising Escrow Account for those families who would like to use EFT to pay some or all of their annual fundraising. You can set the amount that will come out of your EFT to cover your Fundraising requirement. Other Payment Information Late Payment Fee A $10 late fee will be assessed for delinquent payments. Credit Cards Visa, MasterCard or American Express payments are accepted at the YMCA Welcome Center. (You must keep a copy of receipt and give to the Swim Team Payment Box.) Non-Refundable All payments made are final. No refunds will be issued. SWIMMERS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PRACTICE OR COMPETE UNTIL FEES AND DUES ARE PAID. If you would like to pay for these items on a monthly basis, simply add the amount here. If you do not add any amount, you will be billed for these charges as they occur. Most meets charge for each event in which your swimmer competes. These will be charged to your account as they occur. You can determine the appropriate amount by reviewing your charges for prior years. Otherwise, you can estimate approximately $25/month. 3 Fundraising Escrow Account – This is an optional selection to add some or all of your fundraising requirement to your automatic monthly withdrawals. Although the team offers ample fundraising opportunities some families choose to simply write a check for some or all of their annual fundraising. Values are basic beliefs about what is good or ought to be, that actually serve as guidelines for decision making and action. Below are listed standards for all Senior Tigershark Team members. Each team member must comply with these standards in order to preserve the quality and integrity of our program, beginning on the first day of practice and ending on the day following the last meet of the long course season. Please initial your agreement by each item. 1. Use, sale or possession of alcohol, illegal drugs or tobacco products are prohibited at all times, including all Tigershark Team and Non-Team activities. a. Penalties for proven use of alcohol, illegal drugs or tobacco products will result in punishment which could range from suspension up to and including expulsion from the Tigershark Swimming Team. In the event of expulsion, no amount of fees or fundraising paid will be refunded. 2. Swimmers whose conduct is judged to reflect discredit upon themselves or the Tigersharks will be subject to disciplinary action. The coaching staff will determine the appropriate action to be taken for each infraction on a case by case basis. Specific examples of misconduct are: a. Missing practices or not making group practice attendance requirements. b. Insubordination to members of the coaching staff, chaperons, parents, meet officials, team members or other team members. 3. All Tigershark Swimmers are expected to be at practice at time and attend the required number of weekly practices. The practice group requirements are listed below: a. National Top 16 - All practices, water and Dryland sessions and assigned strength training sessions are required. Unexcused practices must be made up. b. Senior I - At least 6 practices, including one morning practice per week and assigned strength training sessions for High School Swimmers. At least 5 practices per week and two assigned strength training sessions for Middle School Swimmers. c. Senior II/Gold - Recommendation of at least 5 practices per week for High School swimmers. Recommendation of at least 4 practices per week for Jr. High Swimmers. Strength Training is not included with this practice group. d. Weekend practices are mandatory for all senior swimmers. Athletes are asked to communicate in advanced in the event of family or school conflicts. This is to be done prior to the weekend practice sessions. e. White/Silver - Three to four practices per week are recommended. f. Black/Bronze - Three to four practices per week are recommended. g. Red/Copper - Two to three, practices per week are recommended. 4. Meet participation is the object of our training and athletes are expected to participate to the best of their abilities at all meets they attend. Swimmers are required to attend 3 YMCA meets. a. All Groups: At least three YMCA meets for the season. USA Swimming participation utilized for optimum opportunity and performance. High School and Jr. High swimmers are to participate in all Tigershark meets through early December. 5. Tigershark swimmers are expected to attend the highest level championship for which they achieve standards. a. SWYSL “A” Championships - if swimmer does not have six SWYSL Short Course “AA” Standards. b. SWYSL “AA” Championships - Team Goal Meet. Athletes are expected to attend to swim even if it is only one event or only a relay. c. Great Lakes Zone Championship - required for all swimmers who achieve a time standard even if it is only one event or one relay. (EXCEPTION: Any 15 & over swimmer with four National YMCA individual events may be excused from this meet with the coaches’ approval. All 13-14 swimmers must attend regardless of National Qualification.) d. National YMCA Championships - required for all swimmers in National Top 16 and Senior I practice group. Senior II swimmer participation will be reviewed by the swimmer, parent and coaching staff. I, the undersigned athlete and parent, understand all of the above Tigershark Team Standards and agree to follow these standards for the betterment of myself as an athlete and responsible team member.
