What are your plans for Prom 2009?
Flowers
When you go to buy flowers a few tips
are...
1. make sure you ask your date what
type of flower they want (incase they
want it to match the dress or are
allergic)
2. be sure to check to make sure
you can pick up the flower the day of
prom... and DONT FORGET!
The closest and most well known
flower place around Boyceville is
Harmony Hills in Glenwood City. Again
make sure you order early enough so
that you know you will be able to get
flowers.
Tanning
When you go tanning a lot of place offer deals if you go more than once, which you
most likely will do because you wont have much of a difference in color after one time,
so make sure when you go tanning to ask for a multiple time deal. Before you go also
check on the hours of the place, most will have websites so just google them! :)

Wrestling Review
The 2008 -2009 wrestling season was a great sucsess and the wrestling team
conquered great adversity to
make it to the state tournament.
One of those great
matches was the dual meet

with a final score of 33-31,
and came down to the last

Individual State
This year’s individual
state tournament included five
Boyceville wrestlers. Among
those five were; seinor Jack
Duerst,; juniors Sam Hayes,
Matt Wyss, and Jason Stuart;
and sophmore Cody Hegeman.
Three of the five wrestlers lost out in the early
rounds, but Duerst and Wyss
each made it to the finals.
Duerst held on to a 2nd period 2-0 lead and never
looked back on his way to
a state championship. Unfortunatley the other match
did not go the same way,
Wyss lost 3-2 in a nail biter.

Season
This year the Boyceville Bulldogs had an
upsetting season with a record of 3-17. This
is equal to the two previos years records combined. The Bulldogs were in all of their games
and lost a total of eight games by less than 10
points. This year the Bulldogs were in almost
every game and just couldn’t quite play a full
4 quarters. The first quarter the Bulldogs always came out with little to no fire and in the
second and third quarters they played strong
and got the lead or made it a very close game.
The fourth quarter is the weak point in the
Bulldogs game. It seems like the the Bulldogs
crack under pressure when they get down by
5 points. The best game the Bulldogs played
was against the Colfax Vikings for one time
the season the Bulldogs played a full four
quarters and finished well.
Play Offs
The Boyceville Bulldogs played the Glenwood City Hilltoppers for the playoff game.
This game was pretty close, and the first half
was very close despite the fact the Bulldogs
lost 51-37. The game was closer than the
score really shows. There were a lot of crucial
calls that could have gone either way. The
Hilltoppers shot a very good game and executed their shots. It all came down to the third
and forth quarter, ( normally the Bulldogs
strong point of the game ) and the Bulldogs
couldn’t make their bunnys, let alone make a
shot from the perimeter. This concludes the
Bulldogs season and how the did in the playoffs.
Girl Basketball
2009
I would just like to take this article to
thank the seniors that played basketball this
year. They will be missed greatly and we appreciated there effort. We had a good hard year
and there we hard times and fun times. our
record was 10-8 in our conference and 2-1 for
the tornament part of the year. We also had alot
of fun times at practice and on the bus rides
to games. Each of the seniors have there own
talents. Ashley Stalker is an amazing ball handler and at the three point she was phenomenal.
Taralyn had her own share of greatness she
owned the baseline she ended the season with
139 points. She was the teams strongest post
player and when she was needed she drained
quite a few threes. Catlin Williams was one
of are top deffenseive players and one of the
funniest players to be around. She always knew
when to have fun and when to work, Caitlin
made practice fun. Along with Brittany Stuart
who was a great deffensive player and she put
her entire heart into her basketball career. We
had alot of hard workers and tough players.
Even when they got hurt they never gave up
they kept there spirit and tried harder. We will
miss you and good luck next year, have fun at
college!
I would also like to say thank you to our
coaches Tom and Jolene who do an outstanding
job with us kids and teach us so much. I can
speak for the whole team when I say we love
to play the game and sometimes it isn’t fun but
Tom and Jolene try there best to help us reach
our full potential and we thank them for that.
Because it’s not always easy to deal with all the
attitudes and selfishness thats goes on (on and
off the court.)
Thank You Seniors and Coaches!

End Of Cheering
Its been a really rough and complicated season but we have all made
it through.
As a basketball cheerleader there
is alot I can say about the girls I
cheer with they are really fun and
great to be around. Some times I
could be having the worst day and
they would cheer me up. We really
encourage the incoming freshman
to try out for basketball cheerleading. It is really fun and we do alot
of neat stuff. We do alot of team
bonding exercises. You have alot
of fun meeting new people and we
also make new friends which is
always a plus.
Goodbye Seniors
We are losing three seniors this
year Amber Kelly, Tiffany Stuart,
and Cassy Smith. We worked hard
and now it’s time to let the juniors,
sophomores, and freahman take our
spots. Good luck to the incoming
freshman. Hopefully you all stick
through the hard times through
cheerleading because in the end it is
worth it in the end.

Happy Easter
What Is Easter?
Easter is the day on
which we celebrate the
resurrection of Christ.
Jesus of Nazareth was
crucified and died on
the day we know as
Good Friday. On the
third day, he was resurrected from the dead.
That third day, a Sunday, is what we celebrate as Easter today.
How did Easter start?
As with some other
Christian holidays, it
started by converting
a pagan holiday into a
Christian one. The pagan festival celebrating

of the Resurrection of

this goddess was “Ostara” (Scandinavian)
or “Eastre” (Teutonic).
The event was turned
into a Christian holiday
and became known as
Easter.
What are the rabbit

The symbol of the
goddess Easter was her

most Christians didn’t

Ancient Chinese,

The resurrection of

Easter Traditions
By: Ben Marusak and Mason Pregler
-Egg Dyeing-
Preparing your Easter eggs for dyeing...
Before decorating your eggs, you need to hard-boil them.
Place the eggs in a large saucepan. Add cold water; enough to
completely cover the eggs. Place on medium-high heat and bring
water to a gentle boil. Reduce heat and simmer eggs for 9 minutes.
Remove from heat and fill with cold water. The eggs must be completely cool and dry, to decorate successfully.
-Painted Eggs-
Use undiluted food coloring and a cotton swab to paint on hard boiled eggs. Let the eggs sit in egg cups until
dry. You can also use acrylic paints in place of food coloring.
Do NOT eat eggs that have been painted!
-Make your own egg color dye-
Combine 1/2 to 1 Tablespoon of food coloring with 2 tsp. vinegar in a
cup that is deep enough for the eggs. Add water to about the half way point. Gently place the eggs into the cups.
I use a soup spoon to place
my eggs in the cups, to avoid cracking. The longer they are left in the dye, the darker the color shade. Experiment with different combinations of colors. When you remove the egg from the dye, pat dry with a paper towel
and place in a holder.
-Rubber Band Designs-
Wrap elastic bands around hard cooked eggs, then drop them in food-coloring dye. Remove eggs, pat dry with
paper towel and remove rubber bands. The parts of the egg covered with rubber bands will not be colored. Once
the rubber bands are removed, you can drop the egg into a different color dye.
-Bunny HopPlay follow the leader with an Easter theme...
Start hopping and then add other movements as well.
-Fluffy needs a tail-
Make a rabbit on poster board without a tail.
The children will take turns “Pinning the Tail”
on the bunny, using large cotton balls and tape.
-Easter egg hunting-
A favorite tradition of many is to put candy in Easter eggs and hide them for the kids.
-Easter egg baskets-
In addition to hiding Easter eggs, many parents will fill a basket with lots of little goodies, and hide it for the
kids.

HOW TO ....
choose and break in a new
Baseball/Softball Glove
•Choose a glove that you can fit your hand all the way into and that won’t slip off your hand. If you play a certain position, get that type of glove.
•Purchase baseball glove conditioning oil. This oil will soften, enrich, and preserve your leather glove. It will also get that sweaty hand smell out.
•Get a baseball or softball, depending on your needs for the glove.
•Put the ball in the glove, tie it with string, and leave it out in direct sunlight for most of the day. This will get the leather hot and easy to shape.
•After you take the glove out of the sun, untie it, take the ball out, and shape the glove by pressing in the pocket and opening and closing it. Throw the ball into the center of the
glove’s pocket as hard as possible. Repeat this step several times.
•Close the glove around the ball tightly and wrap it with the string again and
store it overnight or over a weekend in a dry, dark corner.
•After the set time is up, retrieve the glove and remove the string and ball.
Some oils that can be used to loosen up your glove are....
Foam Shaving Cream
Vaseline
Saddle Soap
Manufacturer’s Solutions - Most of the major glove makers offer their
own oils.
Mink Oil or Neatsfoot Oil
Tanners Glove Oil
“Hot Glove” Treatment. This treatment consists of putting a special foam
on your glove and then baking it in your oven for 4 minutes. This method
is very controversial among baseball glove owners - some swear by it, others call it harmful to the glove.
How to Build Preseason Arm Strength
•Start by stretching before you throw
•Use proper throwing grips (Four- Seams)
•Begin with light softtoss (“Nose to Leather”)
•Work back to a distance where your not lobbing the ball,
then work back in as a cooldown
•Stretch again after throwing
•Ice and use proper arm care as needed
