are week long day camps available to upcoming kindergarteners through upcoming 8th graders.
Campers will discover the fascinating world of science through hands-on activities, creative crafts,
and wildlife investigations. Wolves, eagles, and cougars are just a few of the native wildlife
species on exhibit along our 2 mile nature trail. Living in their natural habitat, our animals
provide up close and safe observation for field studies and creative inspiration. Enthusiastic adult
instructors, most of whom are certified teachers, bring a wide range of experience and talent to
enhance these camp adventures. Join us for a week of exploration and discovery your child will
never forget!
When: June 20, 2011 – Aug 12, 2011 (No camp the week of 4th of July) Weekly camps run Monday
through Friday, beginning daily at 9:00am and ending at 3:00pm.
Tuition:
Tuition: $135.00 for each week of camp. This fee also includes a camp t- shirt that must be worn
each day of camp attendance. Additional t-shirts are available for purchase at orientation.
Extended Care: All before and after care must be pre-arranged and fees must be paid at time of
registration. Cancellation refunds for this service are not available.
Before Care 8am-9am …… $5.00/day, $20.00/week
After Care 3pm-5pm…… $10.00/day, $40.00/week
How to Register
Please fill out one application form for each camper. (You may visit our web site and print out a form or you may
make photo copies from the one provided.) Select the classes and dates you wish to attend. Application forms
must be signed and submitted to Oatland with full tuition payment in order to be processed. Applications are
processed on a first come, first served basis. Space is limited and can not be reserved without full tuition
payment, so please register early to ensure availability of your desired camp. Tuition payments are accepted in
cash (preferred), checks, money orders, VISA and MasterCard. Refunds are available only if a camper cancels
with a two week notice, however, a $35.00 refund fee will apply. Cancellations made within two weeks of
attending camp are not entitled to refunds.
Send completed application forms and payments to the address at the bottom of the form. Expect to receive a
confirmation letter and receipt once your application is processed, usually within two weeks. This will confirm
that you are registered. Please do not assume you are registered by sending in an application and tuition fees.
You must receive a confirmation letter. Please contact us if you do not receive your confirmation letter within
two weeks of registration.

Upcoming Kindergarten and 1st Grade
Amazing Animals Animals, animals, everywhere! Large and small,
rough and smooth, furry and feathery… come to Oatland for an animal
extravaganza! Campers will learn through stories, crafts, and up-close
observations that animals have similarities and differences that make
each one special!
Home Sweet Home Campers explore Oatland's many habitats where
fuzzy animals and creepy crawlies live. They will learn about a different
habitat each day and about the many kinds of animals that live there.
Little Critters Tiny little worlds alive with tiny little creatures exist right
in your own backyard. Let's see what amazing things you can find by
learning where to look. We’ll find creepers, crawlers and swimmers as we
turn logs in our forest and look closely into the tidal creek. A week of
discovery awaits in these wonderful small worlds!
Fun on the Farm From the sheep's wool to the cow's milk, we will
investigate Oatland's barnyard bunch. Learn how chickens and owls are
alike and how goats are similar to bears. We will learn all the fascinating
facts about farm animals and why they are important to people.
Science Magic Using everyday objects and products, your little scientist
will create scientific magic! Through experiments, crafts and explorations,
campers will experience just how sensational science can be.
Let’s Be SenseSense-able What sounds do animals make? Do they all feel the
same? Join us for a week of outdoor exploration and sensory discovery
using your five senses. Using stories, crafts and lots of outdoor, hands-on
fun, you will learn that animals have senses, too.
Upcoming 2nd and 3rd Graders
Wild About Wildlife Where do our wild animals live? What do they eat?
When do they sleep? Learn about Georgia's native wildlife by observing
them up close and behind the scenes. The alligator, red fox, bobcats,
eagles and more will become your friends at Oatland!
Slithery and Scaly Join us for a week of reptilian fun as we learn about
these wonderful cold blooded creatures. Research reptiles and
amphibians as you become a herpetologist for the week!
Predators! Do you hunt by day or stalk by night? Are you fast, quiet,
sly or venomous? Explore the world of the hunters - the predators that
live among us. Wolves, owls, spiders and more are waiting for you to
start your adventure!
The Mad Scientist! Hands on experiments and up-close observations
explain some of nature’s most fascinating features. Come learn about the
life, earth, chemical and physical sciences in this week of science
madness!
Good Ol’ Days Venture
back in time to the fascinating world of the

1800’s. Spend a week learning the skills and way of life of the early
Georgia settlers. Churn butter, process wool, make candles, cook over
an open fire and more. This week is sure to ignite new respect for
today’s modern conveniences!
Hooray for Habitats Explore the many places that living things call
home. Find out why different places are home to different plants and
animals. The forest, the marsh, a small rock and a rotting log provide
the perfect habitat for many Oatland creatures.
Upcoming 4th – 5th Graders
Wild Wisdom Let Oatland’s natural world awaken your curiosity! Get
the most out of your nature experience by learning the basic awareness
skills of an Oatland naturalist. Tracking and birding are just the
beginning to get you inspired by the native plants and animals of our
low country environment.

Beekeeping Did you know that honey bees are

the new sport of “Geocacheing”, including learning how to use a GPS
(Geographic Positioning System). Participants will have a one-day field
trip to hunt for “caches” that are hidden in Chatham County, and then
they will design their own cache and play Geocacheing on the Oatland
trail. As a group, we will also create, hide, and publish a cache on the
Geocacheing web site.
