HOW TO ENTER THE STELLENBOSCH MIKM
– ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND APPLICATION
As of June 2011
From 2012 the MIKM is dived into two Programmes. See the brochure Academic Structure
and Curriculum Outline for full details.
The entry point for all entrants as from 2012 onward is the Programme in KISM (NQF level
8). Satisfactory completion of the latter is the entry requirement for the Programme in IKM
(NQF level 9).
This brochure describes the Entry Requirements for the Programme in KISM.
You are welcome to apply if you can tick off all 4 items below 1. Your Minimum Academic Qualification is at NQF level 7 or the Equivalent outside SA
In plain language, this means that you have to hold a Bachelors degree from a SA university, or
from a non-SA university recognised by the SA Qualifications Authority.
2. Your CV shows that you have at least 4 years' full time employment experience The KISM is not for people who start out on their career path. It requires experience of at least 4
years' full time employment.
3. You are in an employment context which is conducive to learning During the programme you will be asked to interface programme theories with your actual work
context. Your CV should show a symbiosis between the KISM and your work.
4. Your academic profile shows postgraduate potential The results from your previous degree(s) support your claim that your postgraduate MIKM studies
have a reasonable chance of success. As a general norm we anticipate at least a 60% average in
your previous degree studies.
A Special Case  What if you do not hold a NQF 7 but a higher NQF level qualification (or equivalent from an institution outside SA)? If you hold a qualification at NQF levels 8, 9 or 10 (or equivalent from a non-SA institution), you
are eligible, provided the Director of the KISM performs a screening with a positive outcome.
