In Partnership with March 20, 2013 (Shanghai, China) - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ECO DESIGN FAIR SPRING 2013 learn how to reduce waste in fun, innovative ways The Eco Design Fair Spring 2013, the city’s first and largest green consumer community event, will return for its fifth year on April 13-14, 2013 at the Cool Docks. Featured at the weekend-long show will be leaders in the social justice and environmental community, including entrepreneurs, designers, and speakers, to inspire the anticipated 15,000 plus visitors how to live green, safe and healthy lifestyles. This one-of-a-kind weekend experience offers opportunities for Shanghai residents to meet their local community leaders; interact with more than 75 eco-friendly exhibitors; participate in educational workshops; enjoy live music and sample local seasonal cuisine. Reduce Waste is the event’s theme since all consumers have an obligation to conserve our natural resources and reduce the amount of waste we dispose. In the past 10 years, Shanghai residents have been using convenience items and disposable goods at an ever increasing rate. At the Eco Design Fair Spring 2013, visitors will learn the implications of creating waste and identify the ways we can all work together to reduce waste from going to landfills, through fun, innovative and interactive activities including art installations, performances, exhibits and workshops. In keeping with the objective to reduce waste, Eco Design Fair Spring 2013 has partnered with We Impact, China’s only events company specialized in the production of sustainable events. We Impact will implement their Event Lifecycle management system to reduce the event’s negative environmental impacts and will release an environmental report tracking those impacts in accordance with the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative. Eco Design Fair is proud to include participation from large companies in this year’s event, like from BROAD A/Q, an enterprise based on a vision of unique technologies and the philosophy of preserving life. Their products and services have essentially optimised human life and the environment of the earth. This new alliance is another milestone for Eco Design Fair, and empowers both Eco Design Fair and BROAD A/ Q to further develop its growth strategy and reach within the sustainability industry. The Waste Lecture & Exhibit Series, on Saturday, April 13, will hold inspirational and educational presentations to challenge current thinking on waste disposal, presenting the audience with wildly innovative and fantastic solutions to a messy situation! The Design Thinking Workshop will promote social innovation and design. This three-hour seminar on Sunday, April 14 will examine the issues, risks and challenges of sustainable urban development, equipping attendees with the tools, insight and networking opportunities to inspire creative solutions. The workshop is targeted to social entrepreneurs, corporates, non-profits, and students, who share a common interest in generating innovative sustainable design. Eco Values Workshop, organized by ARTSpring, will bring unique art exhibits, performances and demonstrations to raise awareness for eco values. During the event, visitors have the opportunity to sign up for Evergreen tokens and earn Evergreen Credits for taking eco-conscious actions at the Eco Design Fair which can then be redeemed for eco-friendly rewards with onsite exhibitors or with sustainable businesses around Shanghai. And be aware that Evergreen Angels will be lurking throughout the event venue and will award visitors for accomplishing sustainable actions, like recycling their plastic bottles at the various recycling stations.
