How to Use LED Strip/Tape Lighting in a Caravan
Caravan owners, you might consider how convenient caravan LED lights would be for you when
you understand how easy on power consumption they are. The LED strip lights we provide come
with a power supply, so you can run it directly from 240 volt mains, but you can also use the
LED tape on a caravan battery as the tape will connect directly to the 12 volt DC car type battery.
One of the main advantages is it has very low power draw of just 4.8 watts per metre so will not
drain a battery too quickly. Yes – single-figure watts.
This compares very favourably against a 50 watt
halogen lamp or an 11 watt energy saver lamp when
you appreciate how much less energy you will
consume.
You have probably noticed LED lights in objects
around you; they power more things than you probably
suspect. LEDs are small, durable and need little power,
making them ideal for hand held devices like torches.
This ability to be so compact is what makes our LED
tape lights so effective. LED lights function at a safe,
low voltage, instead of the 250+ volts commonly
found in other types of lighting. This is especially
useful in cameras on mobile phones, where space is at
a premium and bulky, voltage-raising circuitry is
unwelcome. Many mobile phones also offer a flashlight function, very handy if you’re
positioning a key in a lock or looking for something in the dark. Try one and see how bright the
light is and transfer that thought to caravan LED lights.
Imagine a 12 volt LED strip with 60 tiny lights per metre, the illumination is absolutely amazing.
Any area of your caravan could benefit from the installation of led tape lights. Caravan interior
LED lights could provide fantastic under cabinet lighting for food preparation, or beneath a
counter to give a stylish glow. You might even consider installing them as low level lighting on
plinths so that creeping about in the night is easy to do without disturbing anyone else who is
sleeping.
Outdoors, the exterior of your caravan could stand out with an application of waterproof caravan
LED lights. Not only will it make your caravan easy to spot but on remote sites offer illumination
that makes you feel more secure. Although many caravan sites are fitted with lamps and lighting,
quite often bulbs are blown and not replaced until the site owner is back on the premises and
instructs or undertakes replacing it. With your own caravan LED lights, you need never worry
about that aspect.
You can run a series of caravan LED lights with independent on/off switches so that only the
light you want switched on will be illuminated, yet have them all connected and plugged in to
either a 240 volt mains socket or a 12 volt DC car type battery. As each strip has cutting points
every 50cm, the tape can accommodate most designs of units easily.
Caravan LED lights are available as the strip alone (battery is usually included!) and there are
options for including a dimmer switch. Talk to us about your requirements and the intended
lighting effects you wish to achieve – inside or out – we’ll be happy to offer helpful advice in
order to bring you a perfect lighting solution for your caravan.
