High Performance
Our age group sports management organization, American Athlete, works in cooperation
with USA Volleyball High Performance to
coordinate one A3/Training/Development camp
held at Davenport University in Grand Rapids,
MI June 29-July 3, 2013. We will also be coordinating a limited number of USA Volleyball
High Performance site camps held in selected
regions throughout the country. This program is
a USA Volleyball High Performance master
coach format designed to develop a school’s
entire coaching staff and athletes.
Technical Advancement
This model is the foundation of our year round
age group programs. We travel to your school
to lead training sessions that follow the philosophy of a structured culture that helps in the
development of the individual, group and team.
In depth skill sequencing evolves into a visibly
systematic approach to technical improvement.
20+ hours of training is offered for athletes
in grades 9-12. An optional 10+ hours is
offered for athletes in grades 7-8 as well as a
specialized attacking school for area athletes.
Discovery
This model is specifically designed for the
middle school athlete with our coaching cadre
reporting to your school in the evening hours
to work with your athletes. The core fundamentals of attack, volley, pass and movement
reception evolve into games of 2v2,
3v3 and 4v4 utilizing a smaller court.
Our unique reverse shaping instructional
method makes learning easy. Athletes only
act upon that which they know!

Attacking
Attack reception is understanding situational mechanics, individual sequencing,
receiving various
attack possibilities and the
“art” of connecting with
other players on the court.
Teaching the importance
of proper serving mechanics, jump float serve and
looking at the jump and
spin serve. Correct
repetition is key to
perfecting your skills.
A core skill every player
needs to be highly proficient at. Technical mechanics, post touch recovery
and the three ways to receive serve are some of the
key components covered.
Hand position, precision
volleyball hesitation, and
situational footwork are key
skills. We also hope to get you
airborne - flying setters are
better than grounded ones. Previous team experience required.

Work on having great
footwork, approach arm
and swing mechanics,
efficient contact, when
to attack safe, when to
terminate the volleyball.
