in Vienna, Austria, in 1981. Webster became
the first institution to offer an accredited
MBA program in Austria in 1985.
As well as offering a flexible, American-style
education, with the possibility to study on four
continents, we also personalize your educational
experience with maximum class sizes of 20 and an
average class size of 15. At Webster Vienna
you will increase your leadership potential
and enhance your career prospects in a researchintensive learning environment, which will
stimulate your intellectual growth and
challenge your way of thinking.
We are very proud that Webster Vienna has been
accepted as a member of the “Microeconomics
of Competitiveness” network created by Professor
Michael E. Porter at Harvard Business School.
This cooperation enables us to teach an important
topic like competitiveness at the quality level
of such a distinguished educational leader.
What we hope to do at Webster is to provide
you with the tools that will help you succeed,
not just today and tomorrow – but throughout
your lifetime.
You are about to embark on a very important
decision, namely which university you will attend
for your MBA studies. I hope that the information
you find in this brochure will make that decision
easier and that I have the chance to meet you
personally here on campus!

»One of Webster University Vienna’s
particular strengths is its international flair. We have students and faculty
from dozens of nations working
together. There are always at least
seven or eight different nationalities
represented in every course I teach,
which provides for rich discussions
drawing on different views and
perspectives. Webster’s cosmopolitanism also builds international
understanding. By getting to the
bottom of different views through
open and frank dialogue, you broaden the outlook of all participants.
Sometimes students from countries
that suffer tensions and have
conflicts attend the same class.
More often than not these students
come out with a better understanding of each other’s point of view,
making them natural ambassadors
for better international understanding and a more integrated world.«

Description
The MBA Program
The Master of Business Administration (MBA)
program provides training in business for students
interested in understanding the working nature
of business in a competitive environment. Courses
in the MBA program integrate information
and theories from various disciplines, including
accounting, economics, finance, marketing,
production operations, and strategic management.
The objective of this program is to develop
students into broadly educated business managers
and executives who understand the nature of
business as a whole, with the tools and techniques
applicable to a wide variety of business situations.

»After retiring from the Coca-Cola

Webster because of my belief in
what it represents. That is, an
opportunity to study at an American
University that is accredited in both
Austria and America, to conduct
classes in English, to provide
students with the possibility to study
abroad, and most importantly to
provide MBA students with the ability
to learn from professors who were
working or had worked in the
business world. It also provides the
professor with an opportunity to
teach in a diverse environment with
students from many different
countries. This is also an advantage
for the students as it provides
viewpoints and realities that they
would not be exposed to elsewhere.
Also, I have found that, like myself,
Vienna‘s faculty members are
committed to the highest standards
of teaching, incorporating crucial
theoretical knowledge with real
world practice and hands-on
application.«
The capstone for the MBA program gives students
the chance to bring together all of the theories,
skills, and tools studied during the program and
integrate them into a learning experience that
highlights the nature of competition and the
kind of strategic maneuvering required to achieve
success. Additionally, the MBA core curriculum
is aligned with the content areas that are specified
for the new Certified MBA (CMBA) examination.

in my decision to pursue a PhD

just a few steps away from the historic city center.
Built in 1826, the neoclassical building features
tremendous architectural detailing, both interior
and exterior. Renovations made to the approximately 5,000 m2 structure in 1989 include a
dramatic glass-roofed, five-story atrium with space
that can accommodate gatherings of up to 300
people.
Palais Wenkheim will be transformed into a space
that supports Webster University’s commitment
to providing academic and operational excellence.
