Objective This session will cover the process of creating a Batch Process that will allow a user to run AutoPLANT PID conversions in a batch process. This Batch Process will load all the files in a particular folder, and then process them one at time in succession converting them from AutoPLANT PIDs to OpenPlant PowerPID drawings. General Overview of Required Administrative Task General File Editing  Editing of xml files using a text editor. OpenPlant PowerPID    Version 1.0 June 16, 2014 Configure OpenPlant PowerPID to not prompt for user input during the conversion. Create the batch process and save it. Do Not Duplicate How to Convert AutoPLANT PIDs in Batch Mode Configuring OpenPlant PowerPID to Convert in Batch mode Below you will find the steps required to configure OpenPlant PowerPID to run the conversion process in a batch mode. Preparing PowerPID for the Conversion This section will step you through adjusting OpenPlant PowerPID to not prompt the user during the conversion and after the conversion runs. This is necessary in order to run the batch process without user interaction. 1. 2. 3. Launch a text editor. Load the Bentley.ConversionServices.xml file located in the “C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\PowerPID (SELECTseries 5)\PowerPID\assemblies\Bmf” directory. Do Not Duplicate How to Convert AutoPLANT PIDs in Batch Mode Creating the Batch Process In this section you will learn how to create the batch process using the Batch Processing Utility. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Load OpenPlant PowerPID, select your project workspace that contains the files to be converted and create a new empty file. Named similar to BatchConverterConfig. When the file loads take the default drawing settings. There is no need to configure this in any way. From the menu select Utilities > Batch Process… From inside the [untitled] – Batch Process dialog select Edit > Add Files… Browse to the directory containing the AutoPLANT PID files to be converted. Select ALL files in this directory by picking the first file, holding down shift and selecting the last file. You can also expand the dialog and use the command buttons to add the files. Pick Done. To save the settings and collection of desired files, select File > Save As…. Select a directory of your choose to store the batch process file. To be safe and select the correct file, select all the files in the Process Tasks section and then in set the Initial Model to “Default Model Only”. Pick the Apply to Selection button. 10. Continuing in the Batch Process dialog – from the menu select File > Process… In the Files to Process dialog pick the Process button. When the process is complete pick the Done button. You will now see that the drawings were loaded in succession and the conversion executed on each file. Additional Information You could create a Command Line file and add additional key-in statements to the Command Line file such as syncing files to and from the database and many more. You can also use the key-ins to execute BASIC Macros, VBA Macros and MDL applications. In a ProjectWise enabled project: 1. If you are running from inside of ProjectWise and you create the Batch Process job and Command line file then in typical fashion the user is prompted to store the files in a ProjectWise folder. 2. When selecting files to add to the Batch Process job the user can select the files from ProjectWise folders.
