About Us
Woodside Pool
Woodside Fishery, created by Peter and David Hughes
in 1997, is a beautiful fishing complex set within the
rolling hills of the South Shropshire countryside. Under
Peter and David’s expert eye the fishery has grown to
include three pools, all offering exceptional day ticket
and match fishing within naturally beautiful
surroundings carefully maintained to create a truly
magical fishing experience – this is not your average
commercial fishery!
The oldest and most mature of the three pools is
Woodside Pool.
The pool has been established for approx. 11 years
and currently holds the fishery’s Carp record at 29lb
8oz, alongside the fishery’s match weight record at
186lb 12oz. There are also plenty of F1s, roach,
rudd, skimmer bream, and perch. There are also goo
quality tench to be had during the summer months,
some of which exceed 10lb.
Best baits include casters, worm, sweetcorn,
luncheon meat and pellet fished down the inside or
between 6-8 metres out.
This pool offers the angler with more of a
challenge but with greater rewards with carp
averaging 2-3lb, bream averaging 1lb + and F1s to
over 3lb. The current match weight record stands
at 158lb 8oz.
Best baits include casters, sweetcorn, luncheon
meat and pellet on pole or waggler or on the
feeder on more difficult days.
House Pool
The most recent addition to the fishery is the
House Pool.
Island Pool
The second longest standing pool is the Island pool,
named because of its two islands.
The high stocking policy incorporated by the fishery
offers the veteran angler the chance to achieve
excellent weights, and the novice angler the
encouragement they need.
As a family run business we provide a friendly service
seven days a week, daytimes as well as evenings.
Advice on effective baits and much more, including
what is being caught and where from, is always
available by phone or E-mail, so please don’t hesitate
to contact us if you have any questions and we will do
our best to provide you with the information you need.
Please also be sure to visit our website, which is
updated every week giving the latest match results as
well as recent news stories and events. Go to
www.woodsidefishery.co.uk. for more information.
The pool was completed in January 2004 and has
fished well ever since with match weights
exceeding 100lb.
At approx. two acres, Island Pool is the largest on
site.
The pool is home to fewer species with carp, F1s,
bream and roach being the mainstay.
The pool is home to roach, rudd, carp, bream and
even barbel. The pool is densley stocked with carp
averaging 1lb with larger specimens reaching 12lb.
This pool really is “a fish a chuck”!!!
Pole fished maggot or caster works very well for a
mixed catch, but pellet and meat will sort out the
larger fish.
