Lyxumia® prefilled pen
(lixisenatide)

How to remove a needle
1 Place the outer needle

Getting started
How to set up a new pen
4 Press and hold the injection button all the way down until you hear
a click and count to five to remove the excess liquid.
New pen set up is only for the first time you use this pen.
1 Pull off the cap and check the pen.
Check the liquid. It should be clear
and colourless with no particles

window is orange
2 Attach a needle (see: How to attach a needle section).
5 The pen is now activated.
3 Pull the injection button out until it stops.
The arrow will now be pointing towards the needle.
When the pen has been
activated and is ready for

How to inject your daily dose
1 Before using your pen to inject your dose,
check that it is activated.
4 To inject your Lyxumia, lightly lift a fold of skin by squeezing gently
and push the needle in at a right angle to the skin.
When the pen has been
activated and is ready for
injections, the window will
be white, like this.
2 Attach a needle (see: How to attach a needle section).
3 Pull the injection button out until it stops.
5 Press and hold the injection button and slowly count
to five to get the full dose.
6 Remove and throw away the needle from the pen after
each injection (see: How to remove a needle section).
The arrow will now be pointing towards the needle.
Throw away the pen 14 days after activation.
When the pen is empty the black plunger is at ‘0’ and the
injection button cannot be pulled out any more.
