How to Improve your 5km
Following two successful workshops already, the last event of this series is due to take place on Sunday
1st December, 9.30am-11.30am, City Academy Norwich – and there are just 8 places remaining!
The sessions are open to male and females aged 18 years + and are targeted at beginners or improvers. No matter
what your ability or pace, each workshop will be differentiated to suit all individuals and no one will be expected or
asked to work beyond their limits.
What will the session involve?
Led by Paul Evans, each workshop will include a practical training session (please come prepared in appropriate
sportswear and dressed for the weather conditions!), followed by an informative Q & A seminar. Having made the
transition from professional athlete to athletics coach, Paul Evans has a wealth of experience and knowledge to
motivate, encourage and help you achieve your goals.

Coach Development Workshops – Physical Preparation, Hurdles and
Throws – Saturday 7th December, Lynnsport, King’s Lynn.
10 - 11am Symmetry- the Secret to Injury Prevention and Optimal
Performance with Becky Schofield.
11am – 12.30pm Introducing an Athlete to Hurdles.
The aim of this session is to demonstrate how all developing athletes can and should
enjoy some part of their training over hurdles. The use of hurdles can improve
mobility, rhythm, max velocity mechanics, and also the conditioning for all athletes.
The process will help coaches develop the skills to identify athletes with talent for
the event, and by the end of the session all coaches will feel confident in their
knowledge and ability to incorporate hurdles into the programming of their athletes.
With John Greenhalgh and Rob Kinge.
1-4pm Shot, Discus and Hammer – the Art of Throwing
Suitable for all coaches of heavy throws, especially those looking to develop their
knowledge and understanding of the events. The session will take each event in turn
and look at the rhythm, turn, power, position and delivery – the essential
technical components of a good throw.
With Gary Howe and Mick Shortland.
Free to all UKA licensed coaches. To register please email:
Kate Bamfield - [email protected]
