Pastor’s Pen February Calendar “I love you.” Did you know that is God’s message to us for Valentine’s Day? Although we set that day aside to express our love to the special people in our lives, no one can say it better than God. In fact, God tells us every day that He loves us. Jeremiah 31:3 says, “...I have loved you with an everlasting love…” Every part of God’s dealings with us is a demonstration of His love. God loves us so much that He chose us before He created the world. Ephesians 1:3-6 says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will…” God has loved us from eternity past and has always wanted us as His deeply loved children. God’s love is seen in His creation of us. He not only created mankind, He created each of us. Psalm 139 speaks of the care and attention God gave each of us when He created us. David was inspired to write, “For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well” (verse 13-14). He also wrote, “How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them!” (verse 17). God loves us so much that He made us. In spite of knowing every sin we would ever commit, He made us - and loves us. God’s love is further seen in what He did as a result of our sin. He sent His Son (John 3:16). Think of it He came looking for us because He loves us. We were the ones who sinned. He was the one who was wronged. We were separated, alienated and hostile toward Him (Ephesians 2:1-3). We were running away from Him (Romans 3:10-18). Yet, He sent His Son. However, it was not enough for Christ to come. He had to die and rise again for our sins to be forgiven. What an incredible proof of God’s love for us. Romans 5:8 says, “but God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” God loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for us. Not even that ends God’s love for us. He didn’t just make that means of salvation possible and then stop working. No, He sent His Spirit to impart life unto faith. This is what Jesus meant when He told Nicodemus “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3) and “...Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God” (John 3:5). God loves us so much He sent His Spirit to bring us to Himself. God’s love for us is seen in our everyday lives. Every day He is at work in every situation to work it out for our good (Romans 8:28). Every day He is at work on us to make us more like Christ (Romans 8:29). How can life be boring or frightening when we are so loved? Last, God’s love for us is seen in His desire for us to be with Him for eternity. Our Lord said, “If I Go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:3). Think of it - our Lord loves us so much that He wants us with Him forever. What love! Believer, you are deeply and eternally love by God. Every day for eternity He is saying, “I love you.” Sermon Topics for Sunday, February 19, 2012 AM: “He Gave Himself For Us” Matthew 26:45-56 PM: “Rejoice!” Isaiah 12 Sunday, February 12 Finance Committee 9:00 AM Bible Study 9:40 AM Morning Worship 11:00 AM Evening Worship 6:00 PM Deacon’s Meeting After Evening Service Solid Rock 7:00 PM Tuesday, February 14 Ladies Bible Study Ladies Bible Study 9:30 AM 6:30 PM Wednesday, February 15 AWANA Ignite Adult Bible Study Prayer Meeting Adult Choir Practice Men’s Bible Study 6:00 PM 6:00 PM 6:15 PM 6:30 PM 7:30 PM 8:15 PM Sunday, February 19 Bible Study Morning Worship Evening Worship/ Church Conference Solid Rock 9:40 AM 11:00 AM 6:00 PM 7:00 PM Revival & Cottage Prayer Meetings We are challenging each adult Sunday School class to have at least one cottage prayer meeting before our revival begins.
