Alternative steps
If you do not already have a Facebook account, go to
www.facebook.com and Sign Up to create a Facebook
account.
If you do not already subscribe to Syndetic Solutions, please
go to http://www.syndetics.com and click on Contact Us to
subscribe.
If your Library does not currently have a Facebook page, go to
Step 1 to find out how to create one.
If you don’t have a Facebook developer account, go to Step 2
to find out how to register as a developer on Facebook.
There are 3 options for sending Bowker your file:
1. ISBN: (default) - A file of ISBNs where each line contains a
single ISBN-10 or ISBN-13.
2. TSV: - A tab separated file of the format
(ISBN<tab>Title<tab>Author). The ISBN column can even
contain multiple ISBNs if they are pipe delimited
(ISBN|ISBN<tab>Title<tab>Author).
3. MARC: - A MARC21 file.

Send Library Holdings to Bowker
Hold Button:: If users are to be directed to the Library home
Page from Syndetics search results, the library should provide
the URL where the page will link to, along with the Library’s
holdings.
Place the file on ftp.syndetics.com
Username: syndeticstest
Password: Bird2can
Notify Bowker when you have added your files.

Step 1 : Create a Facebook Page
Note : If you already have a Facebook page to add the Syndetics Facebook App to, ignore this step
and go to Step 2.

Steps
1. Login to your Facebook (www.facebook.com) account using your Username and Password.
2. Click on the ‘Create Page’ link at the bottom of your Facebook account (as shown in the figure
below).

3) Choose the category ‘Library’ under the entertainment section and fill in the details as shown in
the screenshot.

5) Enter the Facebook page details that user is creating and click on Save Info.

Step 2 : Register as a Facebook Developer
Note : If you have already registered as a Developer on Facebook, ignore this step and go to
Step 3.

1) Login to https://developers.facebook.com/apps

2) Click on ‘Create a New App’ button to start on the app creation process
3) Enter the Application Name and Application Namespace (Application Namespace should not
contain upper case letters) and click on ‘Create App’ button to continue

5) Fill in the Page Tab Name, Page Tab URL ,Secure Page Tab URL and Page Tab Edit URL under the Page
Tab section and click on the button ‘Save Changes’

Note that you need to provide the ClientId of your library page in the URL.

You can upload a JPG, GIF, or PNG file as the Page Tab Image. The size of the image must be 111 x
74 pixels. File size limit 1 MB.

unique ClientID.

Step 4 : Know your Syndetics Facebook AppID
1) Once you save the changes, the Facebook App will be created and the AppID can be seen by
clicking the App tab on the page and selecting the App name created. In the Dashboard the
AppID is displayed.
2) To know the AppID of the Application created, refer to the below figure.

Step 5 : Send your Library Holdings to Bowker
There are 3 options for sending Bowker your file:
1. ISBN: (default) - A file of ISBNs where each line contains a single ISBN-10 or ISBN-13.
2. TSV: - A tab separated file of the format (ISBN<tab>Title<tab>Author). The ISBN column can even

Step 6 : Add Syndetics Facebook App to your Facebook Page
as a Tab
1) Build the URL by replacing <YourAppID> and <YourClientID> with the AppID of the newly created
Syndetics Facebook Application and your unique ClientID .

2) Open a new browser tab, paste the Final URL with right AppID & ClientID and then press enter.

Step 6 : Add Syndetics Facebook App to your Facebook Page
as a Tab
3) Once we run the above Final URL, you will get a dialog box where you can choose the Facebook
page to which the Syndetics Facebook App tab has to be added.
