I. Nature of the Project: It’s a sports-related event wherein different ACTM members get to meet, interact and play with their coACTM members. II. Objectives of the Project: Objectives - To increase the number of participants Rating 3 - To allot more budget to the said project - To give prizes/jerseys to the winning team 4 - To have a uniform for the volleyball team 3 III. 5 Justification - This year, only 5 teams joined the basketball tournament and we were not able to form a futsal team. However, an ACTM volleyball team was created - We were able to look for a major sponsor (Gold’s Gym) - Because of the major sponsor, we were able to give out jerseys to each player of the winning team in ACTM basketball division. - With the help of the sponsor, as well as the contribution of each ACTM volleyball member, we were able to have our own ACTM volleyball uniform. Unfortunately, the uniform turned out to have a poor quality despite its expensive price. Total Workforce a. Mechanics of Project/Feature Project/Feature Article Basically, IAC Sports League is a competition (university-wide) wherein IAC promote and invite college students and organizations in Ateneo to participate the different hosted sports such as basketball, volleyball and futsal. When the targeted number of participants has been reached, IAC will then close the registration period to arrange/organize the different divisions and schedules/matrices of each sport. Finally, medals and trophies will be given away to champion teams and individuals who have shown outstanding performance. V. Total 4,100 none Volleyball: Successful since an ACTM volleyball team was formed and can be considered as a competitive th team since it won 4 place overall. Facilitating Factors 1. There was a weekly update for each marketing officer with regards to the status of the different companies. 2. Each marketing officer should successfully contact at least 3 companies. B. Hindering Factors 1. The academic load that lessened the marketing officers’ time to continuously update on the different companies 2. The correl database’s inaccurate and outdated information/contact details. 3. Companies were hard to contact Contingency Plan Area Marketing Problem Inadequate number sponsors Effects/Ramifications of Lack of appropriate funds for various levels of production Preventive Preventive Measures Formulate a better package deal coupled with Contingency Plans Appropriate funds from the Finance Department dynamic presentations Promotions Lacks manpower to promote the event A lot of Comtech students, especially the freshies, were not aware of the event Implement more intensive promotions that would really entice students to join the tournament. More support from the HR Department HR Insufficient number of ACTM supporters Certain games were quite dull, which somehow lessens the players’ motivation to play/do their best. Announce/promote games every now and then to remind non-participants to watch and support the different games More support from the HR Department IV. General Remarks Intensive promotions should be done to entice more ACTM members to participate the different sports. Furthermore, more support from the HR Department and other ACTM members is needed since it would greatly help in promoting the different competitions, as well as supporting and motivating ACTM participants. PROJECT REPORT Volleyball: Initially, forming a volleyball team was hard since it was ACTM’s first time to participate in IAC’s volleyball tournament. However, ACTM surprisingly shocked other teams like Ralph Lauren due to its competitiveness, as ACTM won two games against them despite its powerhouse lineup. ACTM’s team captain was Rem Del Rosario – an ACTM sophomore th st nd rd that has remarkable volleyball skills. Ultimately, ACTM won 4 place, while Balibolista, Dollhouse and X1 got 1 , 2 and 3 place respectively. With this, and a little more practice, coordination and support, ACTM can definitely reach to the finals next season. th ACTM Volleyball Team (4th place) ACTM supporters supporters Basketball: Unlike last year, this year’s ACTM division was only comprised of five teams, namely Team Duncan, Team A, Team Ahay, Team Alahoy and UMAMI HEAT. As the elimination round came to an end, both Team Alahoy and UMAMI HEAT had the same ranking. Thus, the said teams had to undergo a sudden death, wherein the team who wins will proceed to the st th nd semi-finals round. Eventually, Team Duncan (1 ) played against UMAMI HEAT (4 ), while Team A (2 ) competed against rd Team Ahay (3 ). Despite the seniority of UMAMI HEAT and Team Ahay, Team Duncan and Team A were able to show everyone their competitive skills and were able to prove themselves to be worthy of going to the finals. Ultimately, Team Duncan, which was made up of sophomore ACTM members, won the ACTM Division championship title. Besides the trophy that was given to Team Duncan, each and every player from the team received a basketball jersey and medal as their prizes. nd st ACTM Division 2nd placer: Team A (1st Year) nd nd ACTM Division Division Champions: Team Duncan (2 Year) APPENDICES Appendix A (Promotions (PromotionsPromotions-Related Material) Appendix B (Marketing(Marketing-Related Material) March 8, 2010 Ms. Luisa Beltran Marketing Manager Gold’s Gym Glorietta 4, Makati City Dear Ms. Luisa Beltran, On behalf of all the members of ACTM (Association for Communications Technology Management), we would like to express our heart-felt gratitude for your generous sponsorship for this IAC Sports League Project. The Association for Communications Technology Management (ACTM) of the Ateneo is the home organization BS Management, major in Communications Technology Management (or Comtech) majors. The Comtech program is one of the most dynamic courses in the Ateneo, using an interdisciplinary approach that combines the fields of mass communication, computer science, and telecommunication integrated into a business curriculum. The course aims to create managers in Film Production, Advertising, IT Consulting, Graphic Design, Web Publishing, Media Management, Telecommunications and Marketing. Now on its 12TH year, ACTM has distinguished itself among other business cluster organizations of the Ateneo as the “Home of Innovation.” Last A.Y. 2007-08, ACTM prides itself for being the overall champions in the John Gokongwei School of Management Week (JG-SOM Week). JG-SOM Week is a prestigious event wherein organizations under the Business Cluster of the Ateneo compete in a series of challenges and activities all in the spirit of camaraderie and interaction. For this Academic Year 2009-2010, ACTM will be joining the Intramurals Athletics Council Sports (IAC) League which will be happening from 1st week of September 2009 until 2nd week of December 2009. IAC is a university event that encourages all Ateneans to participate in sports like volleyball, futsal and basketball. Over the past several years, ACTM continued to participate in this event primarily because it is at one with its mission. While intramurals can definitely be competitive, the IAC Sports League never fails to bring together the Ateneo community. We believe that participating in this event would give Comtech majors an opportunity to showcase their talents and expose themselves to fellow Ateneans, ACTM and Non-ACTM members. That being said, we humbly ask for your generous support in this project. Not only will you help our organization continue its streak of success, but you will also find this as a perfect opportunity to present <company name> and to make new contacts in order to increase your success as well. Attached herewith is a list of the different marketing packages we are offering. We shall keep in touch with you within 3 days to inquire the status of this letter. Please bear in mind that we are open to negotiate or accept ex-deals in exchange of the benefits we are offering you.
