2012-2013 Teacher Innovative Grant: Cover Sheet Deadline for submitting completed TIG Application: March 28, 2013 The Orange County Education Foundation has announced grants for Orange County Public School, Grymes Memorial School and Germanna Community College teachers to assist with the development of projects to increase achievement, promote tolerance, and/or exhibit new technology in the classroom. Grants will be awarded after April 12, 2013 for implementation in the final months of the 2012-2013 school year or in the 2013-2014 school year. The grant will be awarded to the Orange County Public School educator whose grant proposal: Promotes financial literacy or economics education among students in the Orange County Public Schools; Inspires students of all backgrounds to learn; Utilizes quality financial literacy or economic education materials. _____ Ernestine Reid Teacher Innovative Grant up to $500.00 The Ernestine Reid Teacher Innovative Grant is designed to promote excellence in education. The grant will be awarded to the Orange County Public School educator who: Strives to improve the academic achievement of students in Orange County Public Schools; Engages students in goal setting, critical thinking and/or problem solving; Utilizes quality educational materials to help students set and achieve goals, think critically and/or solve problems _____ Kathleen Ellington Hargett Innovative Grant for Library/Media Center Resources up to $500.00 The Kathleen Ellington Hargett Innovative Grant for Library/Media Center Resources is designed to improve student literacy achievement by improving school library services and resources. The grant will be awarded to the Orange County Public School librarian whose proposal: encourages students to use library/media center resources; inspires students from all backgrounds to learn; focuses library/media center resources on literacy achievement. _____ Paul Cogar Teacher Innovative Grant up to $500.00 The Paul Cogar Teacher Innovative Grant is designed to honor Mr. Cogar’s motto be in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing. It will be awarded to the Orange County Public School educator whose proposal: exemplifies the use of best practice instruction to maximize student achievement; focuses on character building as a component for nurturing student success, such as, but not limited to, developing leadership skills, promoting team building and collaboration, while modeling good decision making strategies; inspires students to be in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing.
