Ca’ Del Bosco, “Cuvée Prestige” Franciacorta Brut NV Lombardia $90
Ca' del Bosco, a standard-setting producer with a state-of-the-art vinification and aging facility, is
considered by many to make the best Franciacortas, a Champagne-method sparkling wine. Founder
Maurizio Zanella put Franciacorta on the map in the 1970s by crafting powerful, ripe wines with
more body and heft than most Champagnes. On the nose there are aromas of ripe pear, yellow plum
and apple skin complemented by hazelnut and yeasty nuances. Rich flavors of citrus and gentle
white stone fruit sing on the palate, conveying a gently honeyed quality. The Cuvee Prestige is a
fresh, medium-bodied, textbook rendition of Franciacorta, with good finishing mineral notes.

Blended from Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes, this is succulent and fruity, supple and aromatic
Champagne with fine bubbles and a crisp, refreshing finish of extended length. The Cuvée Prestige
is intense cherry-pink in color with extremely fine, persistent pinpoint bubbles rising in delicate
strands to the surface of the wine. Its classic, aromatic Pinot fragrance of red raspberries and
strawberries is offset by elegant, subtle floral and earth nuances. On the palate, the ripe, full berry
flavors are vibrant yet refined, delicately balanced by a fresh acidity which carries into a crisp,
refreshing finish of persistent length.

Poggio al Tesoro “Solosole” Vermentino 2011

Poggio al Tesoro owes a great deal to the far-sightedness of Walter Allegrini, the wine-maker from
Valpolicella who loved Bolgheri and was Allegrini’s enthusiastic forerunner in Tuscany.
The great virtue of this Vermentino is that it enhances the aromas and flavours peculiar to Bolgheri.
Its clean, crisp flavour and purity are its distinguishing features.
The grapes are harvested when their colour changes to an intense yellow. The name Solosole,
meaning 'just sunshine', derives from the fact that the wine is essentialy a direct result of the work
undertaken in the vineyards and the ripening sun.

Bastianich, “Vespa Bianco” 2010 Friuli $85
The flagship wine of the Bastianich estate, Vespa Bianco was created to showcase the power and
evolution that a great Friulian white can have. Consisting of equal parts Sauvignon and Chardonnay
with a measure of Picolit, Vespa becomes more than a sum of its parts, a wine of uncommon
complexity and longevity. A tightly wound balance of minerality and citrus, evolving over time into
a more viscous expression of wildflowers, clover honey and mature pear.

Bastianich, “Tocai Plus” Friuliano 2006 Friuli $95
A single-vineyard of sixty-year-old vines, on a perfectly exposed hilltop, yields an extreme example
of Friulano. We concentrate the flavors of our old-vine Tocai by harvesting at optimum ripeness.
Ten-percent of the harvested fruit undergoes an additional period of appassimento, making this full,
rich wine the equivalent of a white Amarone. The nose is ripe and powerful, showing mature
mandarin oranges, melons and pears. This wine is similar in flavor and complexity to a "Grand Cru"
Alsatian white.

Jermann, “Were Dreams” Chardonnay 2009

Silvio Jermann has a reputation for making Italy’s some of Italy's best white wines. His range of
wine comes predominantly from the mountainous Friuli-Venezia Giulia region in the northeast
corner of Italy. Taking over the family business in the 1970s, Jermann has raised the quality and
grown the range. He now has a sizeable 130 hectares of vines, and two wineries, at Villanova and
Ruttars. "…Dreams…" is made from Chardonnay grapes and is matured for 11 months in small
300-litre barrels made from French oak. On the nose there are notes of apple tart, with cream and
caramel undertones. This wine is full-bodied, with lots of dried tropical fruits, such as mango and
pineapple. The finish is long and flavorful, with fresh acidity that keeps you coming back for more.

Colternzio, “Lafòa” Sauvignon Blanc 2010 Trentino-Alto Adige $90
The Colterenzio winegrowers’ co-operative was founded by 28 farmers in 1960 in the foot hills of
the Alps on the northern Italian border with Austria. The wine exhibits classic Sauvignon Blanc
notes with an alpine influence. Medium in body with balanced acidity this is a mineral driven wine
from one of Italy’s best white wine growing regions.

Antinori, “Cervaro della Sala” 2010 Umbria

Cervaro derives its name from the noblemen who were the owners of Castello della Sala during the
14th century: the Counts of Cervara. Antinori bought the property in 1940. The first vintage of
Cervaro della Sala was produced in 1985 and was introduced on the market in 1987. This wine has
won numerous awards and has received much recognition for the consistent quality it has
demonstrated over the years. This classic blend of 85% Chardonnay and 15% Grachetto has intense
aromas of citrus, pear and acacia flowers fused with vanilla. The wine offers a full-bodied palate that
is well-structured with sweet notes of toasty oak, butter, hazelnuts, and a slight mineral finish.

The Burgundian king among red wines has been planted in Alto Adige since the middle of the
nineteenth century. This is a stylish and elegant Pinot Noir rather than full-bodied and muscular. A
brilliant, medium body wine with a fresh fruity nose. It’s Supple and luscious with hints of red
currants and damsons, velvety tannins and a discreet whiff of oak spice.

Gaja, Barbaresco 2004

Internationally acknowledged as one of Italy's and the world's greatest winemakers, Angelo Gaja has
been responsible for bold innovations in the vineyards and the cellars. Among his innovations in
Piedmontese winemaking are the use of barriques (225-liter French oak barrels) for aging wines and
his plantings of the region's first Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard of the 20th century as well as its first
Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc vineyards. The complexity of this classic Barbaresco is the result
of combining Nebbiolo from 14 estate-owned vineyards. A wine of infinite finesse, it displays the
hallmark Barbaresco nose of forest fruits, plums, licorice and tar. Angelo Gaja’s Barbaresco are
known for their dense structure, full body and complex finish rich in silky tannins. It is the
expression of its vintage and has an aging potential of more than 30 years.

Valdicava, Rosso di Montalcino 2009 Toscana $85
The estate was first purchased by Vincenzo Abruzzese's grandfather, Bramante in 1953. It was there
he planted the first Brunello vines. When Vincenzo graduated his grandfather decided to sell the
winery. It was then that Vincenzo had an epiphany and wanted to take over the winery. After
Vincenzo took over the winery there were a lot of changes that needed to be made. He started
using French oak barriques to creat a more modern, richer, style wines. Vincenzo made changes in
the vineyards concentrating on more quality driven viticultural procedures. Today all the grapes of
the estate are organically grown. His 2008 Rosso di Montalcino is one of the more massive Rossos
in the vintage. Super-ripe red cherries lead to kirsch, earthiness, leather and spices as this fullbodied, tannic Rosso struts its stuff. The wine possesses exceptional depth, purity and class. The
Valdicava Rosso is made from the estate's youngest vines, all of which are Brunello-designated.

Antinori, Guado al Tasso “Il Bruciato” 2010 Toscana $75
50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot 20% Syrah and other red grape varieties.
Intense ruby red color. Well-defined and fresh on the nose, with aromas of red fruit followed by
complex notes of sweet spices and hints of menthol. On the palate, the wine is soft, with
wonderfully silky tannins highlighting delicate hints of fruit and a long, satisfying finish.

La Mozza, “Aragone” 2007 Toscana

This is a wine from Joe Bastianch and Mario Batali’s estate in Maremma. The Aragone is a
distinctive wine made in a region famous for Super-Tuscan blends with Bordeaux varieties. This
wine looks not to the Medoc, but to the Mediterranean. Indigenous Sangiovese is blended with
Syrah (typical of Southern France), Alicante (typical of Spain) and Carignan, creating a "Super-Med"
blend that brings together these noble grapes and highlights the heritage of winemaking from across
the Mediterranean. The name "Aragone"refers to the Aragons of Spain, who together with the
Medici family of Florence dominated the region of Maremma in the 1500's. The six-point star
depicted on the label represents an aerial view of "Forte Stella," which is located in Porto Ercole just
south of Grossetto, built by the Spanish around 1550. The wine is intense ruby red with reflections
of violet. The Sangiovese and Alicante contribute to the structure and complexity of the blend with
spice and liquorice flavors. The Syrah and Carignan contribute a fresh dark berry component. The
wine hints at a Southern Rhone style with black olive aromas, and ripe fruit recalls the depth of
Spanish Priorat. The Aragone goes great with game, steak and roasted meats.

Le Macchiole Bolgheri Rosso Toscana 2010

The vines at Le Macchiole's Bolgheri estate produce some of the finest Cabernet in the world. The
varietys’ affinity for the zone and this estate in particular is expressed in both the Paleo and here, in
Le Macchiole's incredible 2009 Bolgheri Rosso. In this bottling, Merlot is blended with Cabernet
Sauvignon, Sangiovese and a small amount of Syrah. The wine’s ripe dark fruit melds into flowers,
smoke, licorice, tar and minerals as this fresh, vinous red opens up in the glass. There is a wonderful
purity and sheer density to the fruit that caresses the palate all the way through to the round,
engaging finish. This is one of the more important vintages of the Bolgheri Rosso I can remember.
Simply put, it is terrific. The Rosso is made from the estate’s second selection of vineyards.

Petrolo, “Galatrona” 2006 Toscana

Galatrona is made entirely from Merlot grapes harvested around the middle of September. The yield
per plant is notably restricted, allowing a complete grape maturation to take place. This limited
production permits the grape skins to achieve highly concentrated levels of anthocyans and noble
tannins, already sweetened due to the polymerization of the plant. The 2008 has fabulous aromas of
crushed berries, milk chocolate and flowers. It is very complex and multilayered. On the palate, the
wine is full-bodied, with gorgeous flavors and an ultrafine finish. The finsh is endless with delecate
and velvety tannins. This is the greatest wine to date from this producer. Petrolo is the Chateau Le
Pin of Tuscany.

Ben Rye is the iconic Sicilian passito wine made from the raisinated moscato grapes known as
Zibibo. This sweet wine offers notes of honeyed, ripe, falling-off-the-tree peaches and apricots.
Some say it is Sicilian sunshine in the bottle.

Felsina, Vin Santo del Chianti Classico 2003 Toscana .375L $80
Malvasia, Trebbiano, Sangiovese. The key to understanding Vin Santo is in the ageing process
which must last at least three years in small barrels. Felsina ages their wine for 7 years in their
vinsantaio loft area allowing the wine to acquire its viscous texture and distinctive hazlenut, caramel,
and toffee flavors.

Lorenzo Begali, Recioto della Valpolicella 2008 Veneto .500L $90
Recioto della Valpolicella is the “sweet” version of the famous dry red wine of the Veneto, Amarone
della Valpolicella. It offers a bouquet of dark fruits, raisins, plums, and chocolate and is a wonderful
compliment to any dessert that incorporates these ingredients!
