LIVING WITH MOSHIACH
EVERY SINGLE DAY
A Vort in Inyanei Moshiach Ugeula
For every day of the month
We can say that on Rosh Chodesh, every Jew's spark
of Moshiach is revealed. This spark is the aspect of
Yechida, a spark of the general Yechida, which is the
soul of Moshiach.
This revelation causes an innovation in his entire
existence and in all his concerns, that they all become
permeated with the aspect of Yechida. The main thing
is that through this, the revelation and coming of
Moshiach are put into effect, in literal terms, as a soul in
a body, "a king from the House of David," etc.

There are those who wonder about the talk in recent
days, that we are standing at the end of exile, the
footsteps of Moshiach. They ask, "How do we see
this?..." It's very surprising that they don't think deeply
into the events that are transpiring in the world, events
that are revealed and publicized!...
In the recent era (starting from the past few years and
intensifying from day to day) we see across the world
tremendous revolutions, from one extreme to the
other. It is with Hashem's great mercy that these
revolutions are occurring quietly…
Revolutions in the world are one of the signs brought
in the Midrashim of our sages, of blessed memory,
describing the period of the "footsteps of Moshiach."
When we see great revolutions in our times, this is an
additional sign that we are now in the final moments of
the "footsteps of Moshiach," and imminently and
immediately, our righteous Moshiach will come.

As we approach the future Redemption, the previous
manner of divine service (without spreading the
wellsprings outward) is lacking something. Therefore, it is
precisely in the later generations, especially in our
generation, that we must work at spreading the
wellsprings outward with greater energy and greater
power.

Bringing the Two Eras
Yaakov Will Exult
The interpretation of "All the days of your life, to bring the
days of Moshiach" is that all of one's life energy, at every
moment, is invested in bringing about the days of
Moshiach. In other words, not only when one is thinking
and speaking and doing activities to bring Moshiach, but
at all times, the very essence of his life is to bring the days
of Moshiach.

There is a lesson we can learn from precise wording of the
phrase "to bring the days of Moshiach." The word l'havie,
"to bring," is used, rather than the more standard word
l'rabos, "to include." Also, "days of Moshiach" is written in
plural. This teaches us that when the life of every single
Jew is in the matter of Moshiach, as discussed above, this
naturally leads to the situation of the days of Moshiach,
when the essence of the Jewish people will be revealed in
actuality.
The fact that "days of Moshiach" is written in plural could
be alluding to the two general epochs in the days of
Moshiach.
Shabbos Toldos 5752. Hisvaaduyos 5752 vol. 1, p. 321
When the Redemption will come, Yakov will rejoice
more than all the other forefathers, as it says, "Yakov
will exult, Yisrael will rejoice."
Why will Yakov rejoice more than the other forefathers?
Rav says: When one marries off a daughter, who
rejoices more than the father of the bride? In other
words, when the Redemption will come to the world, to
Israel, Yakov will rejoice more than the other forefathers.
Therefore it is written, "Yakov will exult, Yisrael will
rejoice."

Immediately we will merit the coming of the true
messenger, "Behold I am sending to you Eliyahu the
Prophet," who will herald the coming of Moshiach.
Moreover, Moshiach will not wait for the coming of Eliyahu
the Prophet, but will come together with him. Every one of
us among the entire Jewish People will be a messenger to
inform himself, his family and his surroundings that "Behold,
here (our righteous Moshiach) is coming," "He will point
with his finger and say, thus."
(Shabbos Toldos 5751; Hisvaaduyos 5751 vol. 1, p. 335)
It is understood and obvious that in the final moments of exile there
must be work on the mission of spreading Torah and the wellsprings
[of Chassidus] outward, with full strength and the ultimate dedication.
This is so even though we are in the final moments of exile and at
any moment we will be redeemed.
Moreover: Not only does the knowledge that we are in the final
moments of exile not weaken (G-d forbid) the potency of our work
to spread Torah and the wellsprings outward. On the contrary--it
should inspire us with additional excitement and energy in all matters
of our divine service, (including the anticipation of Redemption,
prayers, requests etc. for Redemption) knowing that this activity will
contribute to the completion of the mission. Not only this, but it is
possible that this activity could be the final one, literally.

When a Jew contemplates, he sees that we are still in the darkness of exile.
Thousands of years have already passed since Yakov left Charan to return to his
father's home. Yet we are still languishing in the darkness of exile, the long and
bitter exile. "We have not yet been saved" and our righteous Moshiach has not
yet come!
For this, we have a lesson from the end of this week's Parsha: "The angels of Gd met him:"
Even when a Jew finds himself in exile, outside the land of Israel, not only is Gd watching over him at every moment that no evil should befall him, G-d
forbid. Even more so, G-d sends him--outside of Israel, in exile--the angels of
the Land of Israel. This ensures that all his concerns will proceed in the most
comfortable and complete manner, similar to the concept of the Land of Israel
(Redemption).

In the meantime, we have already finished "polishing the
buttons," and as a matter of course, we are "standing
ready" for Redemption. At any moment, we can
introduce the "Aleph" (representing the Master of the
universe) into the exile. In this manner, we can
transform "Golah" into "Geulah"

When a Jew finds himself in exile, even when he is engaged
in his divine service, to "make G-d a dwelling place in the
lower world," he cannot be satisfied, G-d forbid, for he is
in exile!
According to all the signs of our sages of blessed memory, we are
already in the stage of the actual Redemption… We are already
in a state that our physical body and even the physical world have
already been purified completely. They are already receptacles
for all the lights and spiritual matters, including--and this is the
main thing--the light of our righteous Moshiach, the light of the
true and complete Redemption.
"Jew" and "exile" are a contradiction in terms! It follows,
then, that when a Jew is in exile, he is in a state of "longing
for [his] father's home."

On the verse, "And Yakov sent messengers before him

This verse can be read as an allusion to three eras, in
which the descendants of Esav will undergo a change.

During the first era, Yakov and Esav will relate to one
another as brothers. This is hinted at in the verse by the
words "Esav his brother." This era lasted until the
destruction of the Temple…
The second era--from the time the Temple was
destroyed until the end times, Esav will be in ascendance
and the greatness of the Jewish People will not be
recognized in comparison to him. This is hinted at in the
words "the land of Seir".
In the third era--in the days that we await, Edom will be
a possession. This is alluded to by the words "the field of
Edom"--Edom will be plowed over like a field.

When the Jews pray and beseech for the Redemption, it
is obvious that since they are fulfilling the biblical
commandment to "request one's needs [of G-d]," G-d
must fulfill their request…
"‫ָשׁת ָה ִענְ יָן ֶשׁל " ָפּ ָדה ְבּ ָשׁלוֹם נ ְַפ ִשׁי‬

ִ ‫– ֶשׁפּוֹע‬
However, the fulfillment of the request of the Jewish
People for Redemption could happen in one of several
ways. The Redemption could come through war or
through peace; in a manner of "they do not merit," in
which case it will come after a long delay, "in its time,"
or in a manner of "they merited," in which case the
Redemption wil come immediately--"I will hasten it."
This is the special advantage in emphasizing the matter
of "He redeemed my soul in peace." It has the effect
that the future Redemption will come in a manner of
"redeemed in peace" specifically.

We are stirring up and making noise about the fact that a
Jew must add one deed and another deed in Torah and
Mitzvos, spreading Judaism and the wellsprings outward…
because through this, we can possibly bring Moshiach one
moment earlier.
At first glance, haven't the Jewish People been waiting for
Moshiach for thousands of years? Surely they have already
done a multitude of Mitzvos over the course of all the
generations?
However, since we are speaking about completing the
mission of G-d, to "make a dwelling place for Him in the
lowest world," G-d is not limited if the task will be
completed through a small act or a big one, through the
smallest of the small or the greatest of the great. It is
entirely possible that a small act by a small child will be the
"final hammer blow" that will bring the Redemption.

There is a letter of the Munkatcher Rebbe that we must
have self-sacrifice so that Moshiach will come, a similar
level of self-sacrifice that we are enjoined to have for the
three principles for which we must give up our lives rather
than betray!
There are those who will need this level of self-sacrifice-to leave behind in the Diaspora their beautiful homes and
beautiful cars, etc.!
(Shabbos Chanukah 5744; Hisvaaduyos 5744 vol. 2, p. 705)
All the end-dates have already passed, and "the matter depends
only on teshuvah." In other words, we must turn our face
towards Moshiach. As my father-in-law, leader of our generation
used to say, we need to know that Moshiach is coming, and we
only need to ponder and contemplate this matter with sincerity
and inwardness etc.
When we have already put into effect the matter of turning our
face towards Moshiach, we will have effected the matter of "Face
to face G-d spoke with you."
The verse says, "In the light of the face of the living king." In other
words, through the light of the king's face, the entire matter of the
darkness of exile will be nullified. As a matter of course, we will
speedily merit the true and complete Redemption through our
righteous Moshiach, immediately in our days and in our time.

The revelation of the Torah of Chassidus is connected
with Moshiach's coming, because the revelation of the
Torah of Chassidus is a preparation for the revelation of
the Torah of Moshiach in the future…
It is understood and obvious that the Torah of Moshiach is
certainly eternal, like the whole Torah. In other words, it
is already present in full force even before its revelation by
Moshiach, even though its revelation is still in the future!

From this it is understood that the continuation of the

"refining the sparks," (since the work of refining the
sparks has already been completed,) but a special service
just to bring the actual revelation to the world.

As a result of his investigation, Derzhovin wrote, among other
things, that Chassidim believe in the coming of Moshiach, and they
believe that his coming is imminent. Since they will need a lot of
money to rebuild the Holy Temple, the Alter Rebbe is collecting
money for this purpose. (He was referring to the money that the
Alter Rebbe collected for settlements in Eretz Yisrael.)
From this story, we see that even a gentile recognizes and knows
that a chassid is one who believes in Moshiach, and believes that he
is coming soon. Naturally, [a chassid] prepares himself now for
Moshiach's coming!
This story happened over 150 years ago. How much more so now,
when we are much closer to Moshiach's coming.

One thing has nothing to do with the other: Moshiach could
come tomorrow morning. Nevertheless, tonight before
going to sleep we must recite Shma before bed and make a
reckoning of the day that passed, and make plans for
approaching the work of the following day, starting from
when we wake up and continuing with a full day's work.
The two accounts have no connection to each other. We
need to continue with our daily lives and put in a full day's
work each day, according to the normal order of the days of
exile. At the same time, we must be strong in our trust in the
Creator and Conductor of the world… that at any moment
Moshiach will take us out of this bitter exile, from the doubled
and redoubled darkness

While Yakov's request, to see the Redemption in his time, was not
granted, this was because G-d wanted the Redemption to come in a
much greater fashion. To achieve this, the pain of exile would have
to be endured for much longer than the twenty years he spent in
Lavan's house.

However, after the exile has extended itself to an extreme, until our
time, it is absolutely certain that the Redemption now would be in
the highest possible manner (since "according to the pain is the
reward.") Certainly, we already have the "great wealth" in its
ultimate fullness! Since this is so, the Jewish People cry out: "How
much longer!" "End the exile!"
Since this is so, let us continue to seek and demand the Redemption
with stubbornness, as a "stiff-necked nation," in a complimentary
sense.

Rabbi Shmuel bar-Nachman opened: "I know all the
thoughts. The tribes were busy with selling Yosef. Yosef
was busy with his sackcloth and fasting; Reuven was busy
with his sackcloth and fasting, and Yakov was busy with his
sackcloth and fasting. Yehudah was busy marrying his
wife.
"And G-d was busy as well--creating the light of King
Moshiach."
(Bereishis Rabba, Parsha 85)
The mitzvah that has a special power to bring the
Redemption is the mitzvah of tzedakah--"Great is charity
since it brings closer the Redemption." From this it is
understood that we must increase even more…It may
very well be that the only thing missing to bring the
Redemption is just the giving of a few coins to charity!
In the words of the Rambam, as a halachic ruling: "One
who does one mitzvah can tip the scales of the entire
world… and bring about for himself and for them
salvation and rescue."

Since we need to be prepared at any moment, "I await his coming
every day," and we hope that Moshiach will come today, on Erev
Shabbos, Erev Chanukah, the question arises:
It is written in the writings of the Arizal that in the future, the halacha
will be decided according to the school of Shammai. Moshiach has not
yet come, but we are awaiting his immediate arrival, even tonight.
Therefore, we must look into the question of whether, when
Moshiach comes, the halacha will immediately be according to the
school of Shammai. In that case, we will have to light eight candles on
the first night of Chanukah.
May it be G-d's will that Moshiach will come immediately, and that will
be our only worry--how to set up the oil and the candles, whether
according to the school of Shammai (eight candles) or according to the
school of Hillel (one candle.)

The recognition, acknowledgement, and praise to G-d for the
miracles that He does, in addition to being an expression of gratitude,
are also relevant to the coming of Moshiach with the true and
complete Redemption. As the Gemara says: "G-d wanted to make
Chizkiya the Moshiach…the attribute of justice said before G-d: 'You
made such great miracles for Chizkiya (he was saved from Sancheirev
and was healed from his illness) and he did not sing praise before
You. Will You then make him Moshiach?'"
According to this it is understood regarding our situation, that
publicizing the miracles that G-d does for us in our time is
connected to the coming of the true and complete Redemption in
actuality!
From this we can take a general lesson: Since we have already
passed all the matters, and the Redemption has still not come, it
would be a very appropriate thing to put more effort into the
matter of "publicizing the miracles." We must publicize to ourselves
and others, in every place, the miracles that G-d does for us. We
should do so out of recognition that this is connected to the true
and complete Redemption!

Any addition in a matter of Judaism in daily life will hasten
even more the true and complete Redemption through
Moshiach. This includes taking on something new at Mincha
time compared to this morning, and at candle-lighting time
above what was done at Mincha. May Moshiach come even
more speedily than we ever imagined, immediately now.

As soon as a Jew hears the word "Miketz" in the Torah
reading, he is immediately aroused: "Aha! This is an
allusion to the end of exile, the end of days…the end of
Redemption!"
Afterwards, when he reads and hears the Haftorah--"I saw
and there was a menorah of pure gold, etc."--he
immediately hears that it is referring to the future
Redemption!

We must increase in…strengthening our faith, longing and
anticipation of Moshiach's coming, to the extent that as
long as Moshiach has not yet come in actuality, our days
are lacking. As in the words of Yakov, who felt that his
hundred and thirty years were "few," since the
Redemption had not yet come in actuality.

Even more so: We should add in learning and spreading
the inner dimension of Torah…the oil (secrets of secrets)
of the Torah, in a manner that it lights up "the doorway of
his house to the outside." "Spread the wellsprings
outward" until "the footsteps of the Tarmudeans will
cease."
Obviously, there should also be an increase in the
Chanukah campaign, including organizing joyous
gatherings, as the opinion of the Rambam, that the days of
Chanukah are "days of joy and praise," and an increase in
fulfilling the custom of giving Chanukah gelt, etc.

The closer we get to the revelation of Moshiach, there is
an intensification of the revelation of the oil ("secrets of
secrets") of Torah.
[We can say, that the approach of Moshiach is also the
reason for the intensification of the darkness of the world.
The strengthening of holiness causes an intensification of the
other side, which opposes the coming of Moshiach. There
is a need to fight against the opposition, which is the
concept of "fighting the wars of Hashem" to the point that
"he is victorious."

Let Hashem give Chanukah gelt… to the "Israel is a child, and
I love him," in the most urgent and pressing matter--to bring
the true and complete Redemption through David King
Moshiach, who was anointed with holy oil. Let this happen in
actuality, and through King David we will have the dedication
of the third Holy Temple.
Since the Redemption is coming immediately, on the first day
of Teves, may the tenth day of this month be a holiday, as the
Rambam rules in the conclusion of the laws of fasts: "All the
fasts will in the future be nullified in the days of Moshiach.
Not only this, they will be holidays and days of rejoicing."
