A quick fix to make you rich! However, Chazal tell us that giving tzedakah is not just a segulah for parnasah. It also helps our tefillos to be heard by Hashem (see Baal Haturim on pasuk 15:8). What could be the reason and understanding for this segulah? It seems to me that many people have not only have a nisayon of giving tzedakah, but also with dealing with the poor person: To listen to his sad story. Yet Chazal say that one who listens graciously does more for the poor person than the actual giving. In light of this we can understand that we too, in our tefillos, tell our sad story to Hashem, and mida ceneged mida, if we listen carefully to the stories of others, Hashem will definitely listen to our tefillos too. The Yomim Noraim at Ahavas Shalom have a special place in my heart. When I arrived in RBS over 15 years, I spent my first Rosh Hashanah in RBS with about 20 other men squeezed into this tiny living room halfway down Lachish (with a few ladies in the kitchen). The space inside was tight, but the gates of shamayim were open to the prayers of this newly formed kehilla named “Ahavas Shalom.” This feeling continues with me and my family even today, and I always look forward to davening with Ahavas Shalom. This year, we have kept the Yomim Noraim seat prices the same as last year. Starting September 1, members can buy seats at just 50₪ for the first two seats and 100₪ for each additional seat. On Motza’ei Shabbos Parshas Ki Savo (13-Sep-14) we will open up the seats to non-members for 300₪ per person. Reb Aryeh Beer will be accepting payments beginning 1-Sep-14.
