שפות 9,000 30 טיולים בארץ ישראל 30,000 משתתפי מסע דוברים סמינרי שונות העשרה 86,000 משתתפים 20% למשתתפים התמחויות מ 62-מדינות עולים 700 אירועי תרבות 250 תכניות ייחודיות 1,000,000 התנדבות ימי בחברה הישראלית 1,000,000 חברויות חדשות נוצרו מעל אלפי ימי המסע של מסע המסע של מסע פרויקט מסע -אהבה לכל החיים ירושלים ,י"ז בכסלו ,התשע"ד 20נובמבר 2013 אני שמח לשלוח את ברכתי לחגיגות העשור לפרויקט מסע ,פרויקט משותף של ממשלת ישראל והסוכנות היהודית. פרויקט מסע מביא ארצה מדי שנה צעירים יהודיים בגילאי ,18-30לפרק של חוויה משמעותית בישראל המשלבת גם מרכיב של התנדבות ותרומה לקהילה. פרויקט מסע הינו פרי יוזמה משותפת של הסוכנות היהודית וממשלת ישראל המרכז את מערך התכניות הארוכות בישראל )סמסטר עד שנה( לצעירי העם היהודי מהתפוצות .פרויקט מסע קורא למאות אלפי צעירים )בגילאים (18-30יהודים בעולם להשתתף בחוויה מאתגרת ,מעצבת וייחודית בישראל .הפרויקט פועל לחיזוק זהותם היהודית ,מעורבותם ופעילותם של צעירים בקהילות היהודיות בעולם ,בחברה ובתרבות הישראלית תוך הדגשת חשיבותה של ישראל כמרכז יהודי תרבותי עולמי. הפרויקט פועל לצייד את המשתתפים בכלים מנהיגותיים והסברתיים על מנת שידעו להתמודד טוב יותר עם הביקורת על מדינת ישראל ולשמר קשרים עימם במטרה למנף את חוויתם בארץ לחיזוק הקשר עם הקהילות היהודיות בארצות מוצאם .התכניות משלבות לימודי עברית ,ידיעת הארץ ,מפגשים והתנדבות בחברה הישראלית. התכניות מהוות פוטנציאל לחיזוק הזהות היהודית ויוצרות אצל הצעירים תהליך העצמה ,פיתוח מנהיגות ,אתגרים משותפים ,משמעות וזהות קבוצתית לצעירים מישראל ומהעולם הפועלים למען קהילה וחברה טובה יותר .המפגש עם החברה הישראלית מחזק מכנים משותפים תרבותיים אותנטיים ומאפשר חיבור בין הצעירים היהודים מכל העולם עם הישראלים .מחקרים שנערכו בקרב בוגרי תכניות ארוכות בישראל מראים כי המשתתפים מעמיקים את זהותם היהודית ,רובם נישאים ליהודים ,שולחים את ילדיהם לבתי ספר יהודיים ,מעורבים בפעילות למען ישראל ,מגיעים לביקורים תכופים יותר בישראל וחלקם אף עולים ארצה .אלה שבוחרים שלא לעלות לישראל ,יהוו את דור המנהיגים הבא של העם היהודי בתפוצות. צעירים אלה יהיו גם שגרירי ההסברה הטובים ביותר של מדינת ישראל בקמפוסים בהם ילמדו, בקהילות בהן יתגוררו ,במקומות העבודה ,באירועי התרמה והזדהות עם ישראל וכו' .נכון להיום פועלים בישראל במסגרת פרויקט מסע כ 140-מארגנים המפעילים כ 300-תכניות מגוונות הכוללות תכניות התנדבות )מד"א ,קיבוצים ,עיירות פיתוח ,תכניות התמחות וכד'( ,לימודים אקדמאים )תלמידי חו"ל באוניברסיטאות( ,תכניות של תנועות הנוער העולמיות ,תכניות חווייתיות ע"פ תחומי עניין )ריקוד, מוזיקה ,אמנויות לחימה ,איכות סביבה/קיימות ,ארכיאולוגיה ועוד( ותכניות לימודי יהדות מגוונות. המארגנים הם עמוד התווך ועל כתפיהם מונח האתגר העומד בבסיס חזון הפרויקט .מאז הקמת הפרויקט הגיעו במסגרתו לישראל מעל ל 86,000-צעירים יהודים מכל רחבי העולם .ספר זה סוקר את התפתחותו של פרויקט מסע לאורך השנים ואת תרומתו למדינת ישראל. פרויקט מסע הוא אבן שואבת לצעירים יהודים מרחבי העולם ,רבים מגיעים לשנת לימודים והתנדבות בישראל ואף בוחרים לעלות לישראל ואילו האחרים הופכים להיות שגרירים של מדינת ישראל בשובם לקהילותיהם. אני רואה במשתתפים בפרויקט מסע חלק מההנהגה היהודית של הדור הבא. ברצוני להודות לשותפינו לעשייה הברוכה ועל מאמציהם הרבים בתחום זה. בברכה, נתן שרנסקי 3 המסע של מסע 4 2004 מש5,600 במתחזתפים הר ור של אשון מסע 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 5 יוצאים למסע ממשלת ישראל והסוכנות היהודית מזהות את הצורך בארגון אשר יוביל וירכז את מערך התכניות הארוכות בישראל ולשם כך חוברות יחדיו ומקימות את פרויקט מסע ,שלימים יהיה המפעל אשר מביא מדי שנה אלפי צעירים יהודים לישראל ,המפעל הציוני החשוב של העשור. ממשלת ישראל החזון :חינוך יהודי ציוני בישראל ליהודי התפוצות בהחלטה ההיסטורית מיום ה 19-בדצמבר – 2004פרויקט מסע יוצא לדרך. החלטה זו מבטאת את החשיבות הרבה שרואות ממשלת ישראל והסוכנות היהודית בחיזוק זיקתם של צעירי יהדות התפוצות למדינת ישראל ,ליהדותם ולקהילותיהם. "תארו לעצמכם חיים יהודיים בתפוצות בעוד תריסר שנים ,כאשר בכל פעילות של קהילה יהודית בצפון אמריקה ,באירופה ,במדינות חבר העמים ,בדרום אמריקה ובשאר רחבי העולם ,המשתתפים הם אלה שעברו חוויה מעצבת בישראל .תארו לעצמכם אם בכל שנה מספרם של צעירים המגיעים לישראל לתקופה ארוכה יגדל ,כיצד יראו המוסדות הקהילתיים היהודיים ,כאשר חבריהם הם אלה שהיכרותם והזדהותם עם ישראל הן ממקור ראשון .פרויקט מסע הינו החוליה המקשרת שתאפשר חזון זה .הפרויקט מהווה את המפתח לחיבור הדור הבא של העם היהודי לישראל ,חיבור אשר נעשה לא על ידי אמצעים פורמאליים בלבד ,אלא מאפשר התנסות אישית ,יישומית ועמוקה של משתתפים בפרויקט חשוב זה". אלן הופמן מנכ"ל המחלקה לחינוך יהודי-ציוני ,הסוכנות היהודית ויו"ר ועדת ההיגוי למסע ביום הקמת הפרויקט ומנכ"ל הסוכנות היהודית היום. אמנת מסע " -ואתנך לברית עם לאור גוים" מתוקף נאמנותנו לרוח מגילת העצמאות ומתוך אחריות לקיומו ,להתפתחותו ושגשוגו של העם היהודי לדורות ,ועל בסיס אמונתנו במרכזיותה של מדינת ישראל במילוי שליחות זו ,אנו מתחייבים לפעול להגשמת החזון ,הקורא לכל צעיר וצעירה מקהילות ישראל בתפוצות לחיות שנה בישראל. תמורות רבות עברו על עמנו ,עמדנו במבחנים קשים ,עשינו זאת בכוח האחדות היהודית והאמונה בשותפות הגורל .כדי להבטיח את עתידנו עלינו לצקת מחדש ולחזק את השותפות של הדור הבא בעם היהודי. לפיכך אנו מתחייבים ,לפעול למען יצירת מרחב תרבותי משותף לצעירי קהילות ישראל ,לטפח את זהותם היהודית המשותפת ולחשל את האחווה והערבות ההדדית היהודית. אנו מאמינים ,כי אלפי הצעירים שיצטרפו ל"מסע" יעשירו את עולמם האנושי ,היהודי והמקצועי ,יחזקו את הקהילה ממנה הם באים ,יתרמו לחיזוק הקשר של התפוצות עם ישראל ויחזקו את החברה הישראלית. אנו קוראים לכל צעיר וצעירה יהודיים בתפוצות לבוא לשנה מעצבת חיים בישראל ,במהלכה יכירו את נופיה הפיסיים ,האנושיים והתרבותיים של הארץ ,יתברכו בהישגיה ויתמודדו עם אתגריה. אנו בישראל מתחייבים לקלוט בזרועות פתוחות את אחינו הצעירים מהתפוצות ,לפתוח בפניהם את ביתנו ,להשפיע עליהם מטובה של החברה הישראלית ,להקנות להם ידע וללמוד מהחוויה היהודית שלהם. אנו קוראים לבני הדור הצעיר בישראל ובתפוצות ליצור רעות וחברות אישית ,להכיר זה את זה ,להעמיק את הקשר ההדדי ביניהם ,ליצור מסגרות להידברות ולהתנדבות ולעצב ביחד את העתיד היהודי. יחד נגשים את חזון הנביא ישעיהו "ואתנך לברית עם לאור גוים" )ישעיהו ,מ"ב ,ו'(. "המסע האישי שלכם יהיה למסע של כולנו"- מתוך נאום ראש הממשלה דאז, אריאל שרון ז"ל ,בעצרת הקהילות היהודיות שלום לכולכם אני שמח על ההזדמנות לפנות אליכם צעירי העם היהודי .ברצוני לקרוא לכם להשתתף ביוזמה משותפת לממשלת ישראל ולסוכנות היהודית .יוזמה זו נולדה מתוך חזון בו אלפי צעירים יהודיים יוצאים למסע אישי של שנת חיים מעצבת בישראל .שנה בה יוכל כל אחד מכם לבחור לו את המסלול המתאים לו .לימודים אקדמאים ,פעילויות התנדבות ועשייה חברתית ,התפתחות מקצועית ,לימודי יהדות ותרבות ,עשייה ויצירה משותפת עם יהודים צעירים נוספים. תמורות רבות עברו על עמנו ,עמדנו במבחנים קשים ששום עם בעולם לא עמד בהם ,עשינו זאת בכוח האחדות היהודית והאמונה בשותפות הגורל .אולם הזמנים משתנים ,מה שהיה מובן לבני הדור שלי איננו מובן מאליו יותר .כדי להבטיח את אחדותנו עלינו ליצור מחדש את השותפות של הדור הבא ,שלכם צעירי העם היהודי. הייתי כבר בישראל, אבל "מסע" זו חוויה שונה לגמרי. דיוויד רוזנברג תכנית מסע היא הגשר עליו תיבנה שותפות זו ,ייווצר שיח תרבותי חדש משותף לכל צעירי קהילות ישראל בעולם .אני מאמין שכל אחד מאלפי הצעירים שייקחו חלק בתכניות מסע לא רק יעשיר את ההתנסות האנושית ,היהודית והמקצועית שלו ,אלא גם יחזק את הקהילה ממנה בא ויתרום לחיזוק הקשר שלה עם ישראל. אין לי ספק כי נוכחותכם לתקופת זמן משמעותית איתנו ,כאן בישראל ,תתרום גם לחברה הישראלית, תעשיר אותה ותתרום לעוצמתה .אני מזמין את כולכם להגיע לשנה מעצבת חיים בישראל במהלכה תכירו את הארץ ,את נופיה הפיזיים ,האנושיים והחברתיים המרתקים של ישראל .נצלו את הזמן כדי ללמוד את אתגריה ולהכיר את הישגיה .צרו רעות וחברות אישית עם בני הדור שלכם ,ישראלים ומשאר העולם ,שוחחו עימם ,הכירו אותם ,העמיקו את הקשר ההדדי ביניכם ועצבו ביחד את העתיד של כולנו .הוא שלכם ובידכם. עולמות התוכן של מסע פרויקט מסע מציע לצעירים יהודים מרחבי העולם למעלה מ 300-תכניות שונות במגוון תחומים. אנו מאמינים כי כל צעיר אשר מעוניין להגיע לישראל ,יכול למצוא תחת מטריית מסע את התכנית המתאימה לו ביותר .כל תכניות מסע מחויבות לכלול שבעה אלמנטים חינוכיים המהווים לכל הפחות 20%מזמן התכנית .אלמנטים אלה ,המכונים גם בשם " DNAמסע" ,כוללים לימוד עברית ,מפגש עם ישראלים ,התנדבות בחברה הישראלית ,מושגי יסוד ביהדות ,מושגי יסוד בציונות ,טיולים בארץ וחשיפה לתרבות ואמנות ישראלית. בשארית הזמן ,עוסקות התכניות בנושאי הליבה שלהן .את תכניות מסע השונות ניתן לחלק לשמונה תחומי פעילות מרכזיים :תכניות לתנועות נוער ,תכניות לבוגרי תיכון, תכניות לימודי יהדות ,תכניות אקדמיה ,תכניות פיתוח קריירה ,הכשרה מקצועית, תכניות התנדבות ותכניות חוויה. הרשו לי לסיים בנימה קצת אישית. יש לי חלום שכל צעיר וצעירה יהודיים יראו בשהייה של שנה מעצבת חיים בישראל כחלק אינטגראלי ממהלך חייהם .אני מעדיף כמובן כתחנה לקראת עליה לישראל שהיא באמת משאת הנפש הגדולה .זהו חלום שאני מעריך שניתן להגשמה אם לא כולו אז לפחות חלקו הגדול. המסע האישי שלכם יהיה למסע של כולנו .אסיים בברכה היהודית: "לשנה הבאה בירושלים". סיפור אישי אריאל שרון ז"ל מקור השם מסע דיוויד רוזנברג השימוש במלה "מסע" מעיד על התפיסה הדינאמית העומדת בבסיס הפעילות .מסע הוא תהליך ,בו יוצאים לדרך מנקודת מוצא כלשהי ,ואוספים חוויות והתנסויות עד לחזרה ליעד .ההגעה לישראל ותקופת השהייה בה הן רק שלב בתוך רצף תהליכי התפתחות הנמשכים שנים לאחר סיום הפרק הפורמאלי של התכנית .משתתפי מסע חווים את החיים בישראל וצוברים חוויות מעצבות אשר מלוות אותם כל חייהם. לוגו מסע הראשון בן ,27מברוקלין ,ניו-יורק .משתתף בתכנית ””Israel Way - Tel Aviv internship experience תכנית התמחויות בה משתתפים אקדמאים מרחבי העולם המגיעים להתמחות מקצועית בישראל .במסגרת התכנית דיוויד התמחה כמהנדס רובוטים :עבודה עם הרובוטים ,בדיקתם ועיצוב חלקים. במהלך שהותו בישראל דיוויד מעיד על עצמו שהוא מרגיש כמו מקומי .הקשר שלו לישראל התחזק ,הוא חווה את התרבות ואת האנשים בישראל הרבה מעבר למה שחשב" .הייתי כבר בישראל ,אבל "מסע" זו חוויה שונה לגמרי .אני ממש חי בארץ ומרגיש איך זה לחיות כאן יום אחרי יום". המסע של מסע 6 2005 אומרים "אמן" עם ראש הממשלה ,אריאל שרון ז"ל 20משתתפי מסע זוכים למעמד מיוחד בחג החנוכה ונפגשים עם ראש הממשלה אריאל שרון .הם שוחחו עם ראש הממשלה על מהות חג החנוכה ושיתפו אותו בתחושותיהם האישיות כלפי חג זה .בסוף הישיבה ,משתתפי מסע העניקו לראש הממשלה חנוכייה ואף הדליקו יחד נרות חנוכה .באירוע נכחו ,בנוסף לראש הממשלה ומשתתפי מסע ,נכבדים רבים שהיו מעורבים בפעילות של פרויקט "מסע" באותה עת :זאב ביילסקי -יו"ר הסוכנות ,ישראל מימון -מזכיר הממשלה ,אלן הופמן -מנכ"ל המחלקה לחינוך של הסוכנות היהודית ,אילן כהן -מנכ"ל משרד הממשלה ואילן אזרחי -מנכ"ל מסע. ע שד כה ה כ00-תתפו צעיר12,0 במ ים סע! 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 עולמות התוכן של מסע תנועות הנוער אריאל שרון ז"ל במפגש עם משתתפי מסע המסע של סטנלי פישר אירוע "מסע" מרכזי ראשון מתקיים בבית גוברין בהשתתפות 2000משתתפי מסע ובנוכחותו של אורח הכבוד פרופ' סטנלי פישר. נגיד בנק ישראל לשעבר ,סטנלי פישר ,הוא אחד מהבוגרים הבולטים ביותר של התכנית היוקרתית של שנת הכשרה בישראל ,שהיא כיום אחת מתכניות מסע .סטנלי פישר הגיע במסגרת המכון למדריכי חו"ל של הסוכנות היהודית והיה חניך בה כבר בשנת .1960המכון למדריכי חו"ל נועד לחזק את הקשר של צעירי התפוצות עם ישראל ולהכשיר צעירים לתפקידי הדרכה בתנועות הנוער הציוניות בחו"ל .המכון ,מעניק מדי שנה הכשרה חינוכית לכ 450-צעירים יהודים מרחבי העולם .רבים מבוגרי המכון השתלבו בתפקידי הנהגה בקהילותיהם או עלו לישראל והשתלבו בתפקידי מפתח במשק ובחברה הישראלית. לראשונה בישראל — אלפים חוגגים את ל"ג בעומר באנגלית 3000משתתפי מסע נרגשים מתקבצים יחד ,בפעם הראשונה ,לחגוג את ל"ג בעומר על אדמת ארץ ישראל באירוע ענק בו למדו המשתתפים על מהות החג ומנהגיו ,בשפה האנגלית. משתתפי מסע המשיכו לחגוג את ל"ג בעומר גם בשנים הבאות ,והאירוע הפך לאחד מהאירועים המרכזיים והמרגשים של השנה .באחד מאירועי ל"ג בעומר אף ציינו משתתפי מסע 65שנים להקמת הפלמ"ח ו"פרצו מחדש" את דרך בורמה ,אשר נפרצה לראשונה ע"י חטיבת הראל .באחת התחנות לאורך הדרך אף חיכו להם לוחמי פלמ"ח לשעבר אשר שיתפו אותם בסיפורם .היה זה אירוע מרגש מאד הן ללוחמים והן למשתתפי מסע שנחשפו לסיפורי גבורה ישראליים ממקור ראשון. קל יותר להגיע לישראל — מסע מקימה את מערך המלגות על מנת להקל על יהודים צעירים מכל העולם להגיע לישראל במסגרת פרויקט מסע ,הוחלט על הקמת מערך המלגות .מערך המלגות מטפל באופן שוטף בכל הבקשות למלגה מצד המשתתפים ומתאים מלגה לכל משתתף בהתאם לארץ מוצאו ,גילו והמצב הסוציו-אקונומי של משפחתו .מערך המלגות של מסע הופך את ההגעה של המשתתף לתכנית ארוכה בישראל לקלה יותר מבחינה כלכלית ובכך מסייע רבות בהגדלת כמות המשתתפים בתכניות מסע .מערך המלגות ממומן על ידי הסוכנות היהודית באמצעות תורמים מהקהילות היהודיות ברחבי העולם ועל ידי ממשלת ישראל. 7 למדתי הרבה על כל ההיסטוריה של מדינת ישראל ,החברה הישראלית, ציונות ,על העם שלנו, הבית שלנו ,המדינה של כל היהודים. רבקה קפלן במסגרת פעילותן של תנועות הנוער הציוניות ברחבי העולם ,מגיעים חניכי תנועות הנוער לישראל לשנת הכשרה בסיום התיכון .שנת ההכשרה הקלאסית מתבססת על העקרונות האידאולוגיים של כל תנועה .שנה זו נחשבת כהמשך רציף לפעילות התנועתית והמטרה היא שבתום שנת ההכשרה ישובו החניכים לקהילות האם ויהוו את דור המנהיגים הבא בתנועה ובקהילה. במהלך שנת ההכשרה עוברים החניכים פרקים שונים ומגוונים הכוללים :קורס מדריכים במכון למדריכי חו"ל ,פרק בקיבוץ ,פרק התנדבות עירונית וחוויות שונות כגון מרווה/מד"א/התנדבות בכפרי נוער ועוד. התנועות שמפעילות את שנת ההכשרה הקלאסית הן :השומר הצעיר ,מכבי עולמי, הבונים דרור ,בני עקיבא ,הנוער הציוני ,בית"ר עולמי .תנועות אלו פעילות ברחבי העולם. סיפור אישי רבקה קפלן בת ,19ממקסיקו .משתתפת בתכנית שנת הכשרה של הנוער הציוני .תכנית במסגרתה החניכים מגיעים לישראל לשנה שלמה לאחר סיום התיכון .במהלך התכנית עוברים החניכים פרקים שונים הכוללים קורס מדריכים במכון לתלמידי חו"ל בירושלים, פרק התנדבות בערים שונות בישראל ועוד .בזכות המסגרת החינוכית היא קיבלה הן את הכלים והן את המוטיבציה לשפר את התוכן החינוכי בתנועה שלה במקסיקו. "במשך ארבעה חודשים הייתי חלק מהתכנית מכון למדריכים ,שם למדתי הרבה על כל ההיסטוריה של מדינת ישראל ,החברה הישראלית ,ציונות ,יהדות וכל מיני דברים על העם שלנו ,הבית שלנו ,המדינה של כל היהודים. אחד מהדברים הכי חשובים מהחוויה שלי במכון למדריכים היה האפשרות להכיר הרבה אנשים שבאים מהרבה מדינות שונות .התרגשתי כי הבנתי שיש להם אותם אינטרסים כמו שיש לי ,לשמור על ההמשך של העם היהודי באמצעות חינוך. אני יכולה להגיד שעד עכשיו חוויתי אחת מהחוויות הכי טובות ומדהימות בחיים שלי". המסע של מסע 8 2006 ע שד כה ה כ00-תתפו צעיר19,2 במ ים סע! מלחמת לבנון השנייה -יוצאים למסע סולידריות בצפון מלחמת לבנון השנייה פרצה בקיץ 2006ובמהלכה נורו לעבר יישובי צפון מדינת ישראל אלפי רקטות ולמעלה ממיליון תושבים בצפון מצאו עצמם מסוגרים במקלטים ובמרחבים ממוגנים .במהלך הלחימה יצאה משלחת של 800משתתפי מסע ,ברכבת אל עבר יישובי הצפון על מנת לסייע ולחזק את התושבים בעת הקשה .למשתתפי מסע היה זה מפגש עם מציאות החיים המורכבת של תושבי הצפון החיים בסמיכות לגבול עם לבנון .משתתפי מסע ,שעבורם זו הפעם הראשונה בה הם נמצאים באזור מלחמה ,היו נרגשים וביקשו לסייע לתושבים בכל דרך אפשרית .שבועות לאחר סיום הלחימה רבים ממשתתפי מסע ביקשו לחזור אל הצפון ולפגוש את התושבים. 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 100מנהיגים חדשים לעם היהודי כנס המנהיגות השנתי של "מסע" נערך בפעם הראשונה עם 100משתתפים יהודים מכל העולם. מטרת הכנס היא להכין את משתתפי מסע לחזרה לקהילתם על מנת שיהפכו לשגרירים של ישראל בעולם .במסגרת הכנס ,משתתפי מסע קיבלו כלים ועברו הכשרות אשר עזרו להם להגדיל את המעורבות החברתית שלהם בקהילות המוצא וכך לחשוף יותר ויותר אנשים לישראל האמיתית ולא זו המשתקפת מהתקשורת .מאז אותו כנס ראשון ,גדל מספר המשתתפים ל 550-בשנה והמספר ממשיך לגדול בכל שנה. משתתפי מסע בכנס המנהיגות נציגות ראשונה למסע מחוץ לישראל בעקבות ביקוש הולך וגובר להשתתפות בתכניות מסע בקרב יהודי ארה"ב ,ומתוך מחשבה להתקרב לקהל היעד ,פרויקט מסע מקים נציגות ראשונה מחוץ לישראל ומקים נציגות ראשונה בניו יורק. המשרד בארה"ב ,עוסק במספר משימות עיקריות :מכירה וגיוס ,קמפיינים שיווקיים ,ארגון משלחות של אנשי מקצוע בתחומים ייעודיים ,סיוע בפיתוח תכניות חדשות עבור קהל המטרה ויצירת שת"פ עם גופים מרכזיים בקהילות היהודיות .המשרד בניו-יורק מפעיל נציגי מסע אזוריים במדינות מרכזיות בצפון אמריקה :לוס אנג'לס ,שיקגו ,מיניאפוליס ,מיאמי ,דטרויט ,מטרו ווסט ,וושינגטון די סי ,קליבלנד וטורונטו .במקביל ,מנהלים משווקי מסע השונים בעולם )שליחים ועובדים מקומיים בקהילות היהודיות(, פעילות דומה אבל בהיקפים נמוכים יותר ובהתאמה לשיטות שיווק מקובלות בקהילותיהם .מאז, פתחה מסע נציגויות במעל 20מדינות. מה טוב יותר מלנסות להבין את מהות החיים וייעודם האולטימטיבי מאשר בארץ המורשת שלי ,ארצם של האנשים שלי? דניאל שוורץ עולמות התוכן של מסע לימודי יהדות צעירים המעוניינים לחקור ולהעמיק את ידיעתם בכל הנוגע לזהותם היהודית או במורשת היהודית ,יכולים למצוא מגוון רחב של תכניות בתחום לימודי היהדות. התכניות בעולם התוכן התורני מגוונות וכוללות ישיבות ,סמינרים וארגוני התחדשות יהודית .התכניות פונות למשתתפים בכל זרמי היהדות :רפורמים ,קונסרבטיביים ואורתודוקסים. סיפור אישי דניאל שוורץ בן ,18מלוס אנג'לס קליפורניה ,ארה"ב .לאחר סיום לימודיו בתיכון הוא בחר להשתתף בתכנית מסע בישיבת 'ארץ הצבי' .הוא מעריך את רמת הלימוד של הישיבה ונהנה במיוחד מלימוד פילוסופיה ותנ"ך עם הרבנים .לאחר השנה שלו בישראל דניאל מתכנן ללמוד כלכלה ופילוסופיה. "מה טוב יותר מלנסות להבין את מהות החיים וייעודם האולטימטיבי מאשר בארץ המורשת שלי ,ארצם של האנשים שלי? מידת החוזק של אחיזתי בתשובה לשאלה זו תקבע את הדרך בה אבחר לצעוד בהמשך חיי .אז בטרם אצא למסע שלי ,בטרם אתחיל את החוויה משנת החיים הזו ,חובה עלי לחשוב .חובה עלי לשאול .חובה עלי להרהר ולהתעמק במסורת שלי מתוך ניסיון להבין את השאלות השורשיות העמוקות של האנושיות ותכלית קיום האדם". 9 משתתפי מסע בדרך לצפון ברכבת ישראל צוות מסע ניו יורק המסע של מסע 10 2007 ירושלים של מסע מתמחי מסע משתלבים במשרדי ממשלה פרויקט מסע מצטרף לחגיגות 40שנים לירושלים באירוע מרכזי ענק בהשתתפות 5,000משתתפי מסע .האירוע המרגש התקיים בברכת הסולטן בירושלים בהשתתפות מגוון אמנים מובילים כגון :עידן רייכל ,הדג נחש ,מוש בן ארי ועוד .באירוע נכחו ראש הממשלה דאז אהוד אולמרט ,מזכיר הממשלה דאז ישראל מימון וראש עיריית ירושלים דאז אורי לופליאנסקי. במסגרת תכנית (Israel Government Fellows) IGFבמרכז למורשת בגין ,אשר מטרתה לשלב צעירים יהודים מרחבי העולם בעלי יכולות מנהיגות ועניין במדיניות ציבורית בפעילות ממשלת ישראל ,הוזמנו לישראל צעירים יהודים נבחרים בעלי תואר אקדמי .נכון להיום ישנם כ 140-בוגרים אשר התמחו במשרדי הממשלה השונים. אני יודעת שכשאחזור הביתה, ארצה רק לייצג את ישראל. ע שד כה ה כ00-תתפו צעי 27,4 במ רים סע! 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 דניאלה אברהם תמונות אירוע מסע משתתפי IGFבמליאת הכנסת כנס מארגנים ראשון של מסע יוצא לדרך מסע אטרקטיבית מתמיד -מקימה את החממה לפיתוח תכניות חדשות כנס מארגנים ראשון של תכניות מסע יוצא לדרך -בשלב זה פועלים ב"מסע" כבר מעל ל 100-מארגנים שונים ולכן הוחלט להזמינם לכנס המארגנים הראשון של מסע .מטרת הכנס הייתה לשמוע מהשטח על קשיי היום יום שלהם ושל המשתתפים ,לחשוב על דרכים לשיפור והעמקת המידע שיש ברשותם על מסע ולעדכן אותם בשינויים שהתרחשו לאורך השנים ובהתפתחויות השונות .לצד אלו הועברו בכנס פעילויות העשרה ותרבות שונות אשר נועדו בין היתר להטמיע את ה DNA-של מסע בקרב המארגנים ולתת להם כלים נוספים להעברת התכנים למשתתפי התכניות. במטרה להגדיל את מספר הצעירים היהודים מן התפוצות בגילאים 18-30המגיעים לארץ לתכניות ארוכות ,פיתחה מסע מסגרת שתסייע ביזום ,פיתוח ומיצוב תכניות חדשניות ואטרקטיביות .במסגרת החממה פותחו עשרות תכניות חדשות בתחומי הלימודים ,ההתנדבות, תנועות הנוער ועוד. פרויקט מסע ,גם באינטרנט אתר "מסע" הראשון מוקם בשנת 2007והוא מהווה מקור מידע נגיש להעברת התכנים של הפרויקט לקהל הרחב .באתר זה יכולים המתעניינים ללמוד על מסע ,לדפדף בין התכניות השונות ולהתאים לעצמם את המסע שירצו לחוות בישראל. עולמות התוכן של מסע תכניות לבוגרי תיכון בשנים האחרונות נפתחו תוכניות רבות למסיימי תיכון שאינן דרך תנועות הנוער במטרה לתת מענה לצעירים בקהילה שאינם מגיעים לישראל דרך שנת ההכשרה הקלאסית .בהתאם לכך נפתחו תכניות רבות המציעות אלטרנטיבות מגוונות בדגש על החוויות השונות שניתן לחוות בישראל .התכניות הללו פיתחו מסלולים קצרים יותר ,של 5חודשים ,שמצליחים להגיע לקהלי יעד צעירים שלא גדלו בתנועה אך עדיין מביעים רצון להגיע לישראל .חלק מהתנועות הציוניות מציעות כיום גם אלטרנטיבות נוספות לחניכים תנועתיים שמעוניינים להגיע לישראל לפרק זמן קצר יותר משנת ההכשרה הקלאסית. לדוגמא :מכינת בינה בדרום ת"א ,תכנית ארדוורק ,תכנית יחד -מכינות קדם צבאיות) IBC ,אוסטרליה ,דרא"פ וניו זילנד( ,אביב )אוסטרלים( ,תכנית פרפה )לדוברי צרפתית( ותכנית הכנה לעליה "מיר" )חמ"ע(. סיפור אישי דניאלה אברהם בת 19ממלבורן ,אוסטרליה .השתתפה בתכנית " "Israel By Choiceשל "טללים"– תכנית מסע שאורכת 10חודשים המיועדת לצעירים יהודים מאוסטרליה ,ניו זילנד ודרום אפריקה .מטרתה העיקרית של התכנית היא להצמיח דור חדש של צעירים המחוברים לישראל וליהדות ,אשר יהיו פעילים בקהילות האם שלהם דרך פעילויות חינוכיות והתנדבויות .במסגרת התכנית דניאלה התגוררה בירושלים וברעננה ונהנתה מימי תרבות וכיף ,טיולים בארץ והכירה את הקהילה המקומית. "בשבילי ,הקשר לישראל הוא הדבר הכי חשוב שאני יכולה לקבל מהמסע הזה .אני רוצה לחזור לכאן עוד הרבה פעמים .אף פעם לא אשכח את התקופה כאן ואמליץ לחבריי להשתתף במסע כי זה הדבר הכי מדהים שקרה לי בחיים!". www.masaisrael.org 11 המסע של מסע 12 2008 ע שד כה ה כ00-תתפו צעיר35,6 במ ים סע! 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 כנס לקראת חזרה לקמפוס1200 : שגרירים יוצאים מישראל לרחבי העולם מתוך הבנה שהמסע בישראל לא באמת מסתיים בישראל ,אלא נמשך גם כשהבוגרים חוזרים לקהילות שלהם בארץ מוצאם ,ארגנה מסע כנס מעורבות חברתית מיוחד אליו הוזמנו 500משתתפים מארה"ב 500 ,ממדינות חבר העמים ו 200-מבריטניה .מטרת הכנס היא להעניק למשתתפים כלים אשר יאפשרו להם לחזק את המעורבות החברתית שלהם בקהילות המקומיות ובכך לסייע להם להפוך לשגרירים טובים יותר של ישראל בכל רחבי העולם .מאז ,הכנס חוזר בכל שנה והפך לאירוע מרכזי הזוכה לביקוש רב אליו נבחרים המשתתפים המצטיינים מהתכניות השונות. יהודים מכל העולם רוקדים יחד בישראל "מסע מחול" היא אחת מהתכניות של פרויקט מסע ,המופעלת על ידי להקת המחול הקיבוצית. היא מאפשרת לרקדנים יהודים מרחבי העולם לשלב בין אהבתם לריקוד לבין רצונם להכיר את ישראל .הרקדנים מהתפוצות מתגוררים במשך 5חודשים בכפר המחול בקיבוץ געתון ורוכשים ידע מקיף במחול ,לצד אימונים אינטנסיביים בריקוד .הם חיים לצדם של רקדני להקת המחול הקיבוצית ,רוקדים את הרפרטואר של הלהקה ,מלווים על ידי צוות המורים ואף מופיעים באירועים מרכזיים בישראל .התכנית הייחודית גם משלבת לימודי עברית ,סיורים בישראל והכרות עם התרבות הישראלית וצעירים בני גילם .רבים מהרקדנים התאהבו בישראל ובגליל ונשארו לחיות בקיבוץ .הם נקלטו בלהקת המחול הקיבוצית ,בקולבן דאנס ,באנסמבל בת שבע ובלהקות נוספות בארץ .הרקדנים מגיעים מארצות רבות ומגוונות וביניהן אנגליה ,דנמרק ,גרמניה ,ארה"ב ,צרפת, אוסטרליה ,בלגיה ,איטליה ,ספרד ,שוויץ ,ברזיל וקולומביה .עולם הריקוד התגלה כמקור משיכה ללא מעט משתתפים והיום מופעלות במסגרת מסע עוד מספר תכניות ריקוד וביניהן ניתן למנות את ורטיגו ,אדמה והאקדמיה למחול באוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים. להביא לכאן, לישראל ,את כל האנשים האלה כדי שייצרו קשר עם הארץ הזו ,זה באמת יוצא מגדר הרגיל. לורה גולסון נשיא המדינה שמעון פרס עם משתתפי "מסע מחול" "מסע" ו"הלל" — תחילתה של ידידות מופלאה & לראשונה ,פרויקט מסע מתחיל שיתוף פעולה עם "הלל" ,הארגון היהודי הגדול בעולם הפועל בקמפוסים ומאפשר לסטודנטים לברר בעצמם את זהותם היהודית ,מחזק את היחס למסורת ,למורשת ולתרבות היהודית. שותפות זו עם מערך הסטודנטים המופעלים בקמפוסים ) (Campus Repsתרמה רבות לגיוס משתתפים חדשים לתכניות מסע .בסיום התכנית ,נבחרו 28בוגרים ששיווקו את תכניות מסע וסייעו לאתר משתתפים פוטנציאליים חדשים לתכניות ארוכות בישראל .מודל הנציגים נמצא יעיל מאוד בעיקר לאור העובדה כי בוגרים רבים ,שחווית השהות שינתה בהם משהו ,מחפשים דרך למנף זאת עם חזרתם הביתה. עולמות התוכן של מסע תכניות חוויה אחת המטרות של פרויקט מסע היא לאפשר לכל צעיר יהודי למצוא את מקומו במרקם המורכב של החברה הישראלית .על מנת לענות על צורך זה ,התפתח בשנים האחרונות תחום תכניות החוויה ,בו ניתן למצוא תכניות בוטיק המכוונות לקהל נישה ספציפי בעל תחום עניין ממוקד .הדגש בתכניות הללו ,הינו הגעה לקהל יעד אשר מתעניין בתחום סקטוריאלי ואחרת לא היה שוקל השתתפות בתכנית בישראל .בין תכניות החוויה השונות ניתן למצוא תכניות בתחומי ספורט ,אמנות, מחול ,צילום ועוד. סיפור אישי לורה גולסון בת ,25מקולומביה ,דרום קרוליינה ,ארה"ב .השתתפה בתכנית ""Eco Israel של "חווה ואדם") .תכנית חזרה לטבע אשר במסגרתה עוברים משתתפי מסע הכשרה בחיים ברי-קיימא דרך עבודה בחווה אקולוגית( .במסגרת התכנית לורה עבדה בחוות "חווה ואדם" ,הנמצאת ליד מודיעין ולמדה להכיר את ההוויה הישראלית דרך הקרקע והסביבה. "במהלך חמישה חודשים פיתחתי קשר עמוק עם האדמה דרך חקלאות וקיימות. אני חושבת שפרויקט מסע הוא עוצמתי מאוד ויוצר קשרים .אני לא חושבת שבדרך אחרת הייתי מקדישה את הזמן ליצור את החוויה הזו למען עצמי". 13 המסע של מסע 14 2009 ע שד כה ה כ00-תתפו צעיר45,0 במ ים סע! 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 מסע בישראל -מפתחים קריירה לכל החיים על רקע המיתון בארה"ב והקושי הרב למצוא עבודה ,פרויקט מסע החליט לעזור לצעירי ארה"ב היהודים לשפר את העמדה התעסוקתית שלהם בארץ מוצאם על ידי מהלך ממוקד מטרה תחת השם .Israel - a better stimulus planמטרת המהלך הייתה להזמין את הצעירים להגיע לישראל ולהתמחות במקצוע שלהם כצעד ראשון לפיתוח הקריירה שלהם ,דבר אשר הקנה להם יתרון תחרותי במציאת עבודה בתחומם בשובם לארה"ב .הקמפיין קצר הצלחה מסחררת ,הגשים את מטרתו ,הביא משתתפים חדשים לישראל ותרם רבות להעלאת המודעות של פרויקט מסע בקרב צעירי ארה"ב. מאז נפתחו במסע תכניות המיועדות לצעירים יהודים מארה"ב ומכל העולם המחפשים פיתוח מקצועי ואף נפתחו עשרות מקומות התמחות חדשים בכל תחומי העיסוק :מחשבים ,עיצוב ,שיווק ,פרסום, הנדסה ,אינטרנט ,רפואה ועוד. שותפים למסע – "מסע" ו"שותפות ביחד" מחברים בין משתתפי מסע לישראלים מתוך הרצון לחזק את הקשר של משתתפי מסע לישראל ,פרויקט מסע ופרויקט 'שותפות ביחד' )רשת הקהילות השותפות של הסוכנות היהודית המחברת ויוצרת קשרים משמעותיים וארוכי טווח בין קהילות יהודיות בארץ ובעולם בדגש על זהות יהודית ועשייה משותפות( קיימו לראשונה מפגשים בין משתתפי מסע לבין ישראלים .מטרת המפגשים הייתה לקרב בין יהודים צעירים בארץ ליהודים בני גילם בכל העולם, לשתף רעיונות להנעת שינוי חברתי חיובי וליצור שיח על הקהילה היהודית הגלובאלית והזהות יהודית. המפגשים מורכבים מסמינרים של מספר ימים בערים שונות ברחבי הארץ ושבתות אירוח בהן משתתפים מארחים ומתארחים בבתים הפרטיים .בזכות המפגשים הנ"ל נולדו לא מעט זוגות אשר התחתנו ונשארו בארץ. 1,000משתתפי מסע נוטעים עצים לכבוד ט"ו בשבט טקס הנטיעות המסורתי, אשר נערך בכל שנה, מקבל צבע ייחודי השנה כאשר 1000משתתפי מסע מגיעים לארמון הנציב בירושלים ומקיימים את המנהג המבורך של נטיעות עצים לכבוד חג ט"ו בשבט .במסגרת הנטיעות, משתתפי מסע למדו את מנהגי החג ,ספגו את אווירת הציונות המאפיינת את החג ויצאו עם הבנה טובה יותר של מהות הנטיעה והקשר החזק שלה לישראל. בית אחד למסע לאחר 6שנים ,בהן עובדי מסע היו מפוזרים במתחם קרית מוריה בירושלים ,מסע מתאחדת תחת משרד אחד בבניין הסוכנות היהודית והופכת בית לכשלושים עובדים. כשאתה גר כאן אתה מכיר חברים חדשים, מכין ארוחות שבת ,חוגג חגים ,מטייל כאן כמו מקומי וזה מה שגורם לך להרגיש בבית. נטלי סילברליב עולמות התוכן של מסע פיתוח קריירה מראשית דרכו ,שם לו פרויקט מסע למטרה לזהות את צרכיהם של הצעירים היהודים ברחבי העולם ולפתח עבורם תכניות רלוונטיות ומעניינות אשר יהפכו את ישראל ליעד איכותי ומושך .לפני כחמש שנים ,החל פרויקט מסע לפתח בארץ את עולם תכניות ההתמחויות המקצועיות המקובל מאוד בתרבות העסקית בצפון אמריקה ובאירופה מתוך מטרה להנגיש לצעירי העולם היהודי את שלל ההזדמנויות העסקיות והמקצועיות שמדינת ישראל עשויה לגלם עבורם. במסגרת עולם ההתמחויות ופיתוח הקריירה מאפשר פרויקט מסע לבוגרי תואר ראשון ,לצבור ניסיון מקצועי ראשוני אשר יעשיר את קורות החיים שלהם וישמש מקפצה מקצועית לקראת קריירות עתידיות .מסע מציעה מגוון רחב של תכניות במסגרתן יכולים המשתתפים לבחור בין מקומות התמחות מקצועית במגזר הפרטי ,במגוון חברות מהמובילות במשק הישראלי או לחילופין במגזר הציבורי במספר רב של משרדים ממשלתיים וארגונים ללא מטרת רווח. סיפור אישי נטלי סילברליב בת ,30מניו-יורק ,ארה"ב .השתתפה בתכנית " "Career Israelשל ה"חוויה הישראלית" )תכנית בת חמישה חודשים אשר במהלכה סטודנטים יהודים מכל העולם מוזמנים להתמחות בישראל על מנת לקבל יתרון בקבלה לעבודה בארץ מוצאם ולחוות התמחות בסביבת ארגון ישראלית( .במסגרת התכנית נטלי גרה בתל אביב .יותר מכל התחברה לאנשים סביבה דרך החגים והשבתות המשותפים והרגישה שייכת ,ממש כמו בבית. "המדינה הזו מעניקה לי השראה בכל יום ואני חושבת שזו הסיבה שאני רוצה להיות כאן ,לתרום ולהיות חלק מהמדינה הזו .ישראל היא הבית האמיתי שלי". משרדי "מסע" בקרית מוריה 15 המסע של מסע 16 2010 מחברים בין יהודי התפוצות לתרבות הישראלית מסע אחד הרבה שפות — מפיצים קטלוגים בשפות שונות משתתפי מסע נפגשו עם יוצרים ואמנים ישראלים ,ביניהם שלומי שבן ,קרולינה ,עברי לידר ועוד ,לסדרת הרצאות ,דיונים בהשתתפות הקהל וכמובן הופעות מרגשות .היה מסקרן לראות ובעיקר לשמוע ,את מפגש העולמות התרבותיים השונים ואת השפעתם על שני הצדדים ,מעבר לעולם המוסיקה. לאור הביקוש הגובר לתכניות מסע מהמדינות השונות וההרחבה המשמעותית של היצע התכניות, מסע משיקה לראשונה קטלוגים בשפות נוספות בנוסף לאנגלית .השפות בהן הושק הקטלוג הן: ספרדית ,צרפתית ורוסית .בקטלוגים ניתן למצוא מידע מגוון על תכניות מסע המותאמות לקהל היעד הספציפי הדובר את אותה השפה ,הסבר רחב על הפרויקט ואנשי קשר הזמינים למשתתף בשפת האם שלו .לאור ההצלחה של הקטלוגים הנ"ל הוחלט על השקת קטלוג נוסף בשפה הפורטוגזית. הקטלוגים מסייעים בפיתוח השווקים ובחשיפת התכניות במדינות השונות כמו צרפת ,מדינות חבר העמים ,אמריקה הלטינית ,אוסטרליה ,ואנגליה. ע שד כה ה כ40-תתפו צעיר55,0 במ ים סע! עברי לידר עם משתתפי "מסע" 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 קרולינה עם משתתפי "מסע" מוקי בהופעה מול משתתפי "מסע" רופאי העתיד מתמחים בישראל פרויקט מסע מייסד תכנית התמחות לצעירי חבר העמים אשר סיימו את לימודיהם בתחום הרפואה .תכנית זו ,המתקיימת במרכזי רפואה מובילים בישראל ,כוללת 500שעות הוראה בשנה. היא מספקת לצעירים שנת הכנה המשלבת הכנה למבחני הרישוי וכן התנסות בעזרתה הם יכולים להתקדם לעבר הקריירה הרפואית בה הם חושקים. במסע קיבלתי הזדמנות להכיר ישראלים, להכיר את ההיסטוריה הישראלית ,התרבות הישראלית וגם את האוכל הישראלי. יוליה בז'יבה מחוברים לעולם — פרויקט מסע מתחבר לרשת החברתית הפייסבוק משתלט על האינטרנט ופרויקט מסע מצטרף לחגיגה מתוך הבנה שרוב צעירי העולם ,ובתוכם צעירים יהודים ,גולשים בפייסבוק ובשאר הרשתות החברתיות ,הוחלט להקים עמוד פייסבוק למסע על מנת להתחבר לצעירים האלו בסביבתם הוירטואלית .בדף הפייסבוק של פרויקט מסע מעודכנים אירועים קרבים ,הזמנות לאירועים ,סיפורים מרכזיים מהווי מסע ,הצעות עבודה ותמונות מפעילויות מסע .כיום העמוד הראשי של מסע כולל מעל ל 30,000-חברים ,זאת בנוסף לאלפים הפעילים בעמודי הפייסבוק הייעודיים למדינות השונות )בשפות שונות( ,בטוויטר ,ביו-טיוב ,באינסטגרם ,בלינקד-אין וכו'. עולמות התוכן של מסע הכשרה מקצועית פרויקט מסע מציע מגוון תכניות להכשרה מקצועית ,העמקת כישורים ופיתוח יכולות מקצועיות .במסגרת התכניות הנ"ל זוכים הצעירים לרכוש ידע מעמיק הנחוץ להשתלבות בשוק העבודה בעולם המודרני בתחומים רבים; רפואה ,מחשבים ,צילום, אמנות ,עיצוב ,קולינריה ועוד .פרט לפן המקצועי כל התכניות משלבות לימודי עברית, פעילויות חברתיות והכרות עם נופיה ואתריה של מדינת ישראל .התכניות הנ"ל מתאימות הן לאקדמאים והן לצעירים אשר רוצים להפוך את התחביב למקצוע. סיפור אישי יוליה בז'יבה בת ,25מסנט פטרסבורג ,רוסיה .משתתפת בתכנית "מסע ארט-טל" )תכנית בת ארבעה מסלולים אשר מתפרשת בין 5ל 10-חודשים בהם משתתפי מסע משלבים התנסות מקצועית יחד עם למידה של השפה העברית( .במהלך התכנית למדה וגרה בפתח תקווה והתמחתה במסלול אמנות .יותר מכל רצתה להכיר את ישראל ואת האנשים בה לעומק. "אני חושבת שההגעה שלי לישראל נתנה לי הזדמנות ללמוד על עצמי ועל היהדות. אני אסירת תודה שזכיתי לראות את ישראל באופן שתיירים לא מצליחים לראות כשהם מגיעים לטייל כאן". עמיתי הוראה של "מסע" בפעולה 21 המסע של מסע 22 2012 נרתמים למאמצי ההסברה הישראלית כדי שהעולם יזכור — משלחת של משתתפי מסע יוצאת לפולין במהלך מבצע "עמוד ענן" עקב היותם תושבי חוץ ,הצעירים לא חשופים ללימודי השואה כנהוג בתכנית הלימודים בישראל. במטרה להנחיל את מאורעות השואה גם לצעירי התפוצות ,פרויקט מסע מוציא משלחת ראשונה של משתתפים למחנות הריכוז .כדי לעזור למשתתפי מסע להבין טוב יותר את התקופה ההיא ולהקל על המשתתפים אשר לא חשופים ללימודי השואה במדינות מוצאם ,כל תכני המסע הותאמו במיוחד עבורם והועברו בשפה האנגלית .מאז ,יוצאת המשלחת לפולין מדי שנה. ע שד כה ה כ90-תתפו צעי 74,7 במ רים סע! 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 במהלך מבצע "עמוד ענן" נפתח במשרדי מסע בירושלים חדר מדיה בינלאומי שאויש על ידי מתנדבי מסע מתכניות שונות ,אשר סיפרו לעולם על החיים בישראל תחת ירי הטילים .המתנדבים ,שחיו בשבועות שלפני המבצע בבאר שבע ,קיבלו תדרוך על המסרים של ההסברה הישראלית וכן על השימוש ברשתות חברתיות ככלי להעברת מסרים .המשתתפים תיארו לעולם בשפות שונות )אנגלית, ספרדית ,רוסית וצרפתית( את החיים תחת ירי הטילים בישראל מזווית אישית שלהם .הפעילות של חדר המדיה הבינלאומית נערכה בתיאום עם מטה ההסברה הלאומי ,משרד החוץ ודובר צה"ל .סיפורי המשתתפים הופצו דרך אמצעי המדיה החברתית ובראשה הפייסבוק ,הטוויטר ,בלוגים ,טוקבקים ועוד. אני מרגיש שהשגתי לא רק צמיחה מוסיקלית אלא גם צמיחה עצמית. מייק הינקדיקר משתתפי מסע תורמים למען הקהילה על מנת לתרום עוד יותר לקהילה בישראל ,פרויקט מסע ,בשיתוף קרן רש"י ,הקים את תכנית – ISF .Israel Service Fellowsתכנית קהילתית זו פועלת להנגשת תופעת ההתנדבות בישראל ופיתוח שיח משתתפי מסע בפולין ותודעה מנהיגותית-חברתית משותפת לצעירים מחו"ל ומישראל .כמטרת על ,התכנית הוקמה על מנת ליצור סדר יום חברתי ,אזרחי ולאומי משותף ,באמצעות שרות התנדבותי אפקטיבי להעצמת נוער בסיכון ,לצד תהליך למידה של נושאי אקטיביזם חברתי ,ערכים יהודיים וערכי תיקון עולם אוניברסאליים. פרויקט מסע — עכשיו גם בישראל יודעים אחרי שנים בהן פעל שיווקית רק בחו"ל ,פרויקט מסע חונך קמפיין פרסומי ראשון בישראל .במסגרת הקמפיין פרויקט מסע בחר להראות ממקור ראשון את החוויות אותן משתתפי מסע חווים בישראל. הקמפיין קצר שבחים ותרם רבות להעלאת המודעות לפרויקט מסע בישראל. מודעות זו תאפשר מצד אחד לישראלים להציע למכרים צעירים בעולם להגיע גם הם לתכניות חוויותיות ארוכות בישראל ,ומצד שני לחברות עסקיות ,גופים ציבוריים וארגונים התנדבותיים להשתתף בפרויקט ולקבל מתמחים לארגונים שלהם. פיתוח פלטפורמה שיווקית לתכניות אקדמיה במטרה לעודד סטודנטים צעירים מרחבי העולם לבוא ללמוד שנה בישראל, יוצא פרויקט מסע במהלך שיווקי מיוחד .מטרת המהלך היא להציג את שנת הלימודים כחוויה כיפית ,מספקת ותורמת להתפתחות האישית .מדי שנה מגיעים לישראל מאות סטודנטים מן המדינות השונות לסמסטר אחד או שניים .כחלק מתהליך ההתפתחות ,מדי שנה מצטרפים למסע עוד ועוד מוסדות אקדמאיים ישראליים מהשורה הראשונה כמו האונ' העברית ,הטכניון ,אונ' בן גוריון ,אונ' עולמות התוכן של מסע תכניות אקדמיה מראשית הקמת פרויקט מסע ,היה ברור כי לא ניתן לדבר על תכניות ארוכות בארץ מבלי להתייחס לתכניות בתחום האקדמי .בתי הספר לתלמידי חו"ל פעלו באוניברסיטאות השונות לפני הקמת פרויקט מסע ואלו התגייסו כשותפים ערכיים לדרך מיום הקמת הפרויקט ויש שיאמרו עוד מלפני כן ,אז בלטה מעורבות נציגי האוניברסיטאות הישראליות בגיבוש הרעיון שהפך ל"מסע" .במהלך עשר שנות קיומו פועל פרויקט מסע יחד עם האוניברסיטאות והמכללות המובילות בישראל ובעולם ,על פיתוח מודלים חדשים ומעניינים של תכניות אקדמיות בישראל ועל הגדלת מספר הסטודנטים הבינלאומיים המגיעים לקחת חלק בלימודים אקדמיים בישראל .כיום ,במסגרת פרויקט מסע ניתנת לסטודנטים מרחבי העולם האפשרות להגיע ללמוד בישראל במגוון תכניות אקדמיות בכל המוסדות האקדמיים המובילים. צעירים המעוניינים להגיע לישראל במסגרת אקדמית יכולים לקחת חלק בתכניות שונות החל ממכינה לקראת כניסה לאוניברסיטה ,לקיים בארץ את שנת הלימודים הראשונה לתואר שלהם ,סמסטר או שנה בארץ ,במסגרת " "Study Abroadקלאסי ועד מסלולים מלאים לתואר ראשון או שני. סיפור אישי מייק הינקדיקר בן ,26מאורוגוואי .משתתף בתכנית " "Jerusalem soundsשל האוניברסיטה העברית )תכנית בה משתתפי מסע מתנסים בחוויה של לימודי מוסיקה בישראל באקדמיה למוסיקה בירושלים( .דרך התכנית מייק נהנה מצמיחה עצמית במקביל לצמיחה מוסיקלית ,ובעיקר התחבר לארץ ולהוויה הישראלית. "אני ממליץ על פרויקט מסע אם תרצו לחוות את ישראל .בפרויקט מסע תוכלו ללמוד שפה חדשה ולהכיר אנשים חדשים". תל אביב ,אונ' בר אילן ועוד ,אשר פותחים את דלתותיהם בפני משתתפי מסע .בנוסף ,פותחה פלטפורמה אינטרנטית מיוחדת לסטודנטים הרוצים ללמוד שנה בישראל במסגרת מסע. 23 המסע של מסע 24 2013 נציגי מסע מכל העולם נפגשים בירושלים מסע וקרן ג'נסיס במיזם משותף להעצמת הזהות היהודית בקרב צעירי ברה"מ לשעבר לראשונה ,נציגי מסע מכל העולם )ארה"ב ,הולנד ,הונגריה ,גרמניה ,חבר העמים ,אנגליה ,ארגנטינה, מקסיקו ,ברזיל ,צ'ילה ,אורוגוואי ,דרום אפריקה וצרפת( נפגשים במקום אחד ,בירת ישראל ,ירושלים. הנציגים ,אשר ביום יום עוסקים כל אחד במדינתו ביצירת מפגשים עם קהל היעד ובמאמצים בלתי פוסקים לגיוס משתתפים חדשים לתכניות מסע ,חלקו חוויות ממדינתם ופעילותם במסגרת הגיבוש המיוחד שהתקיים רק עבורם .המפגש תרם להרגשת ה"-ביחד" ולחיזוק תחושת השליחות שלהם. הקבוצה הפילנתרופית "ג'נסיס" ופרויקט מסע משיקים מיזם חדש להעצמת הזהות היהודית של צעירים יהודים מברה"מ לשעבר ולהעמקת הקשר שלהם עם ישראל .המיזם מבוסס על סיור בן כשבוע ימים המוקדש להיכרות פעילה עם הארץ והחברה שבמהלכו נחשפו המשתתפים באופן חווייתי ולימודי לרבדים נוספים בזהות היהודית שלהם וגילו את הקשר האישי שלהם לעם ישראל ,לארצו ולמורשתו. עד כה נטלו חלק במיזם זה כ 200 -צעירים מברה"מ לשעבר. ע שד כה ה כ90-תתפו צעי 85,7 במ רים סע! אלכס טמפל 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 מסע ישראלי משתתפי מסע כובשים את המדיה החברתית ומספרים את סיפורם לכל העולם במטרה לסייע למשתתפי מסע לבטא את החוויות הרבות שהם חווים במהלך שהותם בישראל ,הוחלט לקבץ משתתפים מובילים ומוכשרים תקשורתית תחת Media fellowsולקיים סדנה שנועדה לסייע להם לספר את סיפורם האישי באמצעות אמצעי המדיה החדשים .במהלך תכנית ההכשרה למדו המשתתפים כיצד לכתוב בלוגים ,לצלם ולערוך סרטוני ויומני וידאו ולכתוב מאמרי דעה לעיתונות .כמו כן, נפגשו המשתתפים עם עיתונאים זרים המסקרים את ישראל וביקרו באולפני מערכות טלוויזיה .בסיום התכנית ,הגיש כל משתתף פרויקט אישי בו הביע את סיפורו שלו באמצעות הכלים שרכש בתכנית. כל החומרים הנ"ל זכו לפרסום וחשיפה בכלי התקשורת בארץ ובעולם דבר שחשף את פרויקט מסע בפני מאות אלפי צעירים מהעולם. מסייעים לצרפתים להתנסות בחיים בישראל בתקופה זו ,לאור המצב הכלכלי והאנטישמיות הגוברת בצרפת ,מסתמנת בקרב צעירי צרפת מגמה של חיפוש הזדמנויות שונות מחוץ לארצם .ממשלת ישראל נמצאת בתהליך גיבוש תכנית מאסיבית של היערכות להגברת העלייה מצרפת וכחלק מכך בא לידי ביטוי גם תפקידו של "מסע" כמקפצה לקראת עליה .לאור זאת ,צרפת הפכה ליעד מרכזי לפעילות פרויקט "מסע" מתוך כוונה לעודד ולהגדיל את מספרי המשתתפים המגיעים לתכניות מסע השונות. הדבר בא לידי ביטוי בפעילות שיווקית מואצת על קהל היעד הפוטנציאלי ובפיתוח תכניות חדשות המיועדות במיוחד לקהל המגיע מצרפת. פעולות אלו הביאו לגידול מרשים במספר המשתתפים המגיעים לתכניות מסע מכ 500-משתתפים בשנת 2012ל 680-בשנת 2013והציפייה היא לכ 1000-משתתפים בשנת 2014ואף יותר מכך ,בשנים הבאות. 25 אילו לא הייתי בתכנית של "מסע" לא הייתי מגיע לישראל ולא הייתי מקבל את ההזדמנות הזו לעזור ולתרום כאן. בוגרי מסע :מנהיגי העתיד של העם היהודי בתפוצות כאשר המשתתפים חוזרים הביתה ,עם סיום תכניותיהם ,הם יכולים להמשיך להיות מעורבים בקהילת הבוגרים של מסע -רשת של בוגרי תכניות מסע הרוצים להישאר מחוברים לקהילה ,לחוויה שעברו בישראל ולאנשים איתם חוו את התקופה שלהם בישראל. קהילת הבוגרים של מסע משמשת כפלטפורמה למנהיגות יהודית על ידי חיבור בוגרים למשאבים לפיתוח מקצועי ,מעורבות בקהילה ,תכניות להכשרת מנהיגות ועוד. ההכנה לכך מתרחשת כבר בהיותם בארץ בזכות תוכן חינוכי נרחב ש"מסע" כארגון גג מספק ואשר מטרתו לגבש את אלפי המשתתפים והבוגרים של מסע ,בארץ ובעולם ,לקהילה אחת וכן בזכות אירועים שונים כדוגמת אירועי פתיחת שנה וסיום שנה ,טקס יום הזיכרון לחללי מערכות ישראל באנגלית, אירועי תרבות ,שבוע מנהיגות ועוד. פעילויות אלה ושמירת הקשר עם המשתתפים בחזרתם לארצות היעד ,מסייעות רבות לתחושת החיבור שלהם ליהדותם ולמדינת ישראל וכן להפיכתם למעורבים בנקודות המגע השונות בקהילותיהם. סיפור אישי אלכס טמפל בן ,23מאדגרטאון ,מסצ'וסטס .משתתף בתכנית ") "Israel Corps - Tenתכנית שבמסגרתה משתתפי מסע מתנדבים במשך תקופה של ארבעה חודשים אשר במהלכם ,על סמך כישוריהם האישיים ,הם עוזרים לאוכלוסייה המקומית(, מתנדב בכלבייה הנמצאת בפארק השכונתי ועובד עם נוער בסיכון בשכונות המקומיות .אלכס מעיד כי דרך התכנית הוא חיזק את הקשר לארץ ,התחבר והכיר את ישראל ,על שלל רבדיה. The Masa Israel Journey 33 2013 Celebrating a Decade of Masa "You devoted a year of your lives to Israel and learning about its beauty. Israel will always be your home", said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at an event marking the first decade of Masa which took place on November 14, 2013. The event was attended by 3,000 Masa participants from dozens of countries who came to the ICC building in Jerusalem for the celebratory event. The representatives, who recruit locally for new Masa participants, shared experiences from their own countries and their work. The event contributed to a sense of togetherness and reinforced their sense of a vital, shared mission. The Genesis Philanthropy Group and Masa Israel Journey launched a new venture for enhancing the Jewish identity of young people from the FSU and strengthening their bond with Israel. The program is based on a week-long trip designed to provide an active introduction to Israel and Israeli society, during which the participants are introduced, in an experiential and educational way, to additional levels of their Jewish identity and discover their personal connection with the Jewish people, its land and heritage. Alex Tempel Masa Alumni: The Future Leaders of the Jewish People in the Diaspora Masa Israel Masa Participants take over social media and Tell their story to the World Helping the French to Experience Life in Israel In light of the economic situation and growing anti-Semitism in France, there is an increasing number of French young adults looking for different opportunities abroad. The Israeli government is developing a major program to prepare for aliyah from France, and this includes the role of Masa as a catalyst for aliyah. As a result, French youth have become a principal target of Masa participation. This is reflected in accelerated marketing activity aimed at the potential target audience, and the development of new programs which are specifically tailored for people coming from France. This effort has generated an impressive rise in the number of participants coming to Masa programs, from approximately 500 participants in 2012, to 680 in 2013. Nearly 1,000 participants are expected in 2014, and we project an even greater number in the years to come. 3838 Masa and the Genesis Philanthropy Group in a joint venture for empowering Jewish identity among young adults from the former Soviet Union In order to help Masa participants communicate the unique experiences they have in Israel, Masa selected highly-qualified participants to join the Masa Media Fellows program, a series of workshops designed to help them tell their personal story through new media vehicles. During the program, the participants learned how to write blogs, to shoot and edit video clips and blogs, and to write editorial columns for newspapers. The participants also met with foreign reporters covering Israel and visited television studios. At the end of the program each participant presented a personal project in which he or she told his or her story using the tools they acquired in the program. Their work was published in the media in Israel and around the world. When Masa participants return home, they can continue to be involved in the Masa Israel community– a network of Masa alumni who want to remain involved with Israel and connect with friends who also spent a meaningful time in Israel. The Masa alumni community serves as a platform for Jewish leadership by connecting alumni with resources for professional development, involvement in the community, leadership training, and other activities. The preparation stage starts while the participants are still in Israel, as a result of the extensive educational content that Masa provides as an umbrella organization, designed to unite the thousands of Masa participants and alumni, both in Israel and around the world, into a single community. The preparation activities also include different events, such as year opening and closing events, a Remembrance Day ceremony in English, cultural events and the Masa Israel Wilf Family Leadership Memorial day. These activities, and maintaining contact with the participants after they return to their countries of origin, greatly help to cultivate their sense of connection with their Jewishness and with the state of Israel. They also help them get involved in various points of contact within their communities. A Personal Story Alex Tempel of Edgartown, Massachusetts, USA participated in the Masa Israel Corps – Project T.E.N. program, in which volunteers serve the local population for a period of four months. Alex volunteered at kennels in the local park and worked with at-risk youth in local neighborhoods. Alex says that being on the program helped to strengthen his bond with Israel, and allowed him to get to know Israel on all its various levels. "I fell in love with the land, the people, the food, the music and the culture and I want to spend as much time as possible here. I will recommend to my friends to take part in Masa because it allows you to experience the real Israel." In order to help Masa participants gain a better understanding of the Holocaust, and to provide education for participants who do not encounter Holocaust studies in their country of origin, Masa Israel Journey, as a result of the initiative and generous support of the Wilf Family Foundation, sent an initial delegation of participants to visit concentration camps. The delegation was conducted in English and tailored to the needs of international Diaspora Jews. Since then, a delegation has traveled to Poland each year. During Operation Pillar of Defense an international media room was set up at the Masa offices in Jerusalem. It was staffed by Masa participants from various programs who told the world about life in Israel under rocket fire. The volunteers, who were living and working in Be’er Sheva before the Operation, were briefed on the messages of Israeli advocacy and on the use of social networks as a means of conveying information. The participants described their personal experiences of living under rocket fire in Israel to the world in English, Spanish, Russian and French. The activity in the international media room was conducted in coordination with the National Advocacy Center, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the IDF spokesperson unit. The participants' stories were distributed via social media, primarily Facebook, Twitter, blogs and talkbacks. I feel that I have not only achieved musical growth, but personal growth too. Mike Hinkdeiker The Wide World of Masa Israel Journey Academic Programs Masa participants in Poland Introducing Masa Israel Journey to Israelis After years of exclusively marketing abroad, Masa Israel Journey launched an initial advertising campaign in Israel. As part of the campaign, Masa Israel Journey presented the first-hand experiences of Masa participants. The campaign engendered positive reactions and helped to raise awareness of Masa Israel Journey in Israel. This awareness will both enable Israelis to suggest to young people they know around the world to take part in long-term programs in Israel and make it easier for businesses, public organizations and non-profits programs to take part in the project and to take on Masa interns within their organizations. Masa Participants Contribute to the Community In order to make an even greater contribution to the community in Israel, Masa Israel Journey, in conjunction with the Rashi Foundation, established the Masa Israel Service Fellows project. This community-based program makes volunteering in Israel more accessible and develops dialogue and common social-leadership awareness between young people from abroad and from Israel. The primary objective of the program is to create a shared social, civic and national vision, through effective voluntary service for empowering at-risk youth, as well as learning about social activism issues, Jewish values and universal ethics. Since the inception of Masa Israel Journey it was clear that academic program had to be included in the project programs. Schools for overseas students operated at the various universities before Masa Israel Journey was created. They became valuable partners from the first day of Masa Israel Journey, and some would say from an even earlier stage. Representatives of the Israeli universities were very involved in the concept that turned into Masa. During the past ten years, Masa Israel Journey has worked with leading universities and colleges, in Israel and the world, on developing new and interesting models of academic programs in Israel, and on increasing the number of international students coming to Israel to take part in academic studies. Today, as part of Masa Israel Journey, Jewish students from all over the world are recruited and given grants to study in Israel at leading academic institutions. Young people who are interested in coming to Israel, within an academic framework, can join various programs from "mechina" preparatory programs for university studies, to freshmen year in Israel or a semester or year as part of a classic study abroad framework, and other full bachelor's or master's degree programs. A Personal Story Mike Hinkdeiker 26, of Uruguay participated in the Jerusalem Sounds program of the Hebrew University (a program in which Masa participants do their music studies in Israel at the Music Academy in Jerusalem). The program offered Mike an opportunity to achieve personal growth, alongside his musical development, and, in particular, to connect with Israel and the Israeli way of life. As part of the program, the teaching fellows strengthen their Jewish identity through immersion in Israeli society and culture. They work as teachers’ aides in underserved schools in Israel, helping to improve the students' level of performance, and many of them also contribute in other areas at the school. In this way, the teaching fellows help to improve the standard of education in Israel, while reinforcing the reciprocal bond between Israelis and young people from the Diaspora. When the program started, there were 68 fellows. Today, nearly 170 fellows volunteer and teach in nine cities, from the south of Israel to the north, working at some 90 elementary schools and middle schools. The Gottesman Fund generously helps support the program. Masa Israel Journey Joins Forces with Taglit – Birthright Israel In an effort to strengthen the connection of young people from the Diaspora with Israel, Taglit-Birthright Israel, which brings tens of thousands of young people to Israel each year for a 10-day trip, allowed Masa to hold an informational fair introducing Taglit participants to Masa Israel’s programs. As a result of the cooperation between the projects, the Masa fairs for Taglit participants significantly help to introduce Masa Israel Journey, and serve as a meaningful vehicle for increasing registrationon Masa programs. The vice presidents came to Israel for a week, during which they met hundreds of interns, visited workplaces and took part in a panel discussion in which they advised their Israeli counterparts with regard to methods for improving internship practices in Israel. Volunteering Masa's volunteer programs offer a fascinating entry into social involvement in Israel. These service-learning programs are located all over Israel and allow a meaningful experience of living and working in different communities both in the periphery and in the center of Israel. Today, one can find programs that have Developed expertise in areas of "tikkun olam", social entrepreneurship, Working with the non-profit sector and more. Most of the volunteer programs receive subsidies from Various partners outside Masa, and this enables the participants to take part in quality, meaningful Programs at a very low cost. In the last two years Various models have been developed in cooperation with the Israeli Ministry of Education and Different NGO's, and a number of national programs have been established, such as Masa Israel Teaching Fellows in which participants volunteer at schools around the country. The programs include Tikkun Olam in Tel AvivJaffa, the Yahel Social Change program in Gedera in which volunteers work with members of the Ethiopian-Israeli community, and the Israel Service Fellows program in Akko where participants volunteer in Druze villages in the north of Israel. A Personal Story Launching the "Live it Like a Local" Campaign because of the professional development provided by each Masa Israel program, participants of long-term programs in Israel have the unique opportunity to experience Israel not as a tourist but as a local who belongs to a community. The Campaign conveyed that Masa participants live among Israelis, do their shopping with Israelis, go out with Israelis and, in fact, live like Israelis in many respects. In view of the campaign's success, this slogan has become one of the main messages of Masa Israel Journey to this day. Jennifer Handel 26, of the United States was a Masa Israel Teaching Fellow. As part of the program, Jennifer not only contributed to the local community, she also connected with herself. Jennifer says that volunteering through Masa changed her life, and she hopes that others will feel the same. Based on an understanding that most of the world's young people, including young Jews, use Facebook and the other social networks, Masa Israel decided to launch an official page in order to connect with potential participants in the virtual world. The Masa Facebook page offers updated information about upcoming events, invitations to events, major stories from the Masa experience, job offers and pictures from Masa activities. Today the Masa home page has over 30,000 members, and that is in addition to the thousands that are active users of dedicated Facebook pages from the different countries (in the different languages), on Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and other channels. The Wide World of Masa Israel Journey Professional Training Masa Israel Journey offers a range of professional training programs in addition to our internship programs. These programs enable young adults to acquire the in-depth knowledge necessary to enter in the modern job market in many fields: medicine, computers, photography, the arts, design, the culinary arts and more. In addition to professional development, all programs offer Hebrew studies, social activities and exposure to Israel's landscapes and sites. The programs are suited to both university graduates and to young people who are looking to turn a hobby into a profession. This provided participants with a competitive advantage for finding work in their field on their return to the United States. The campaign was highly successful, bringing new participants to Israel and greatly contributed to raising awareness of Masa Israel Journey among young professionals in the United States and the rest of the world. Masa Israel interns have worked in all sectors of Israeli society, including high-tech, design, marketing, advertising, engineering, non-profits, medicine and more. Partners in the Journey – Masa Israel Journey and Partnership2Gether Connect Masa Participants with Israelis Based on a desire to reinforce the bond between Masa participants and Israelis, Masa Israel Journey and the Partnership2Gether project (the network of sister cities of The Jewish Agency for Israel which connects and creates meaningful long term relationships between Jewish communities in Israel and the world, with an emphasis on Jewish identity and joint activity) organized mifgashim (encounters) between Masa participants and Israelis. During these weekend-long seminars, peers share ideas for generating social change and engage in dialogue about the global Jewish community and Jewish identity. Thanks to these encounters, numerus couples met, married and settled in Israel. 1,000 Masa Israel Journey Participants Plant Trees on Tu B'Shvat This year, 1,000 Masa participants came to Armon Hanatziv in Jerusalem to plant trees to mark Tu B'Shvat. The ceremony enabled the Masa participants to learn about the customs and meaning of the holiday, and gain a better understanding of the tradition of tree planting and its centrality to Israel’s revival. When you live here you find new friends, prepare Shabbat meals, celebrate the holidays, and take trips like any local. This is what gives you a feeling of being home. Natalie Silverlieb The Wide World of Masa Israel Journey Career Development A Home for Masa in Jerusalem After 6 years being spread out on the Jewish Agency's Kiryat Moriah campus, Masa staff came together in its own office in the main building at Kiryat Moriah which has since become a home for around 30 staff members. From the start, Masa Israel Journey has set out to identify the needs of young Jews around the world and to develop relevant and interesting programs for them that make Israel a quality and attractive destination. Around five years ago, Masa Israel began to develop the area of professional internship programs in Israel, which has since become very popular among North Americans and Europeans. The idea was to make the full range of business and professional opportunities available in Israel accessible to young Diaspora Jews. Masa Israel Journey enables young adults with bachelor's degrees to gain initial professional experience which will enhance their résumé and provide them with a professional springboard to future careers. Masa offers a wide range of programs which allow participants to choose from professional internships in the private sector, with a range of leading companies in the Israeli market, or to specialize in the public sector at a large number of government ministries and NGO's. The aim of the conference was to provide participants with the tools that would enable them to intensify their social involvement in their local communities, and thereby help them to become better ambassadors of Israel around the world. Since then, the conference has been held annually and has become a major event which is in great demand and to which only the most outstanding participants from the various programs are invited. Dance Journey is a Masa Israel program run by the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company (KCDC), enabling dancers from the Diaspora to combine their love of dance with their wish to learn about Israel. The dancers live at the KCDC village in Kibbutz Gaaton for five months and take part in intensive dance training. They live with the KCDC dancers, dance the company's repertoire, are supported by the teaching staff and also perform at major events around Israel. This unique program also includes Hebrew studies, trips around Israel, cultural enrichment activities, and meetings with Israeli peers. Many of the dancers fell in love with Israe -- and with the Galilee in particular-- and have stayed on to live on the kibbutz. They have been accepted into the KCDC, Kolben Dance, the Batsheva Dance Company and other companies around Israel. The dancers come from a large number of countries, including England, Denmark, Germany, the USA, France, Australia, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Brazil and Colombia. The dance world has become a powerful magnet for a considerable number of participants and, today, there are several more dance programs within the Masa framework including Vertigo, Adama and the Academy of Dance of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Twenty-eight Masa Israel alumni were chosen to be Masa Israel Campus Representatives, raising awareness of Masa Israel Journey and identifying new potential participants for long-term programs in Israel. This model allows enthusiastic alumni to share their transformative experiences in Israel with their peers, while increasing Masa Israel’s influence on campus. One of the aims of Masa Israel Journey is to enable every young Jew to find his or her place in the complex fabric of Israeli society. In order to meet this goal, the field of experiential programs has developed, offering boutique programs tailored for a specific niche audience with a focused field of interest who would not otherwise consider participating in a program in Israel. These include programs in the fields of athletics, art, dance, photography, and more. I don't think I would have otherwise devoted the time to creating this experience for myself." & 5050 The Masa Israel Journey 49 2007 A Jerusalem Journey Masa Israel Journey joined Jerusalem in celebrating its 40th anniversary at a giant event which attracted 5,000 Masa participants. The moving event was held at Sultan's Pool in Jerusalem, and featured leading artists such as Idan Raichel, Hadag Nahash and Mosh Ben-Ari. The event was attended by former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, former cabinet secretary Israel Maimon and former Jerusalem mayor Uri Lopolianski. Daniella Abraham The Wide World of Masa Israel Journey Gap-Year Programs A Masa event photos The First Masa Israel Journey Organizers' Conference is Launched Masa Israel Journey decided to host the first Masa Program Organizers Conference, inviting representatives from over 100 program providers. The aim of the conference was a mututal exchange of information; providers could share information about their organization and their participants’ day-to-day challenges and successes, while Masa Israel could share their changes and improvements over the years, as well as consider ways of deepening participants’ connection to Masa Israel. In addition, a range of enrichment cultural activities were presented at the conference. These were designed to instill the Masa Israel Journey DNA within the organizers and to provide them with additional tools for conveying the DNA to the program participants. IGF participants in the Knesset plenum Masa Israel Journey Establishes Incubator for Developing New Programs Hoping to increase the number of Jewish young adults coming to Israel for long-term programs, Masa developed a framework that encouraged the development and positioning of innovative programs. Dozens of new programs were developed in the incubator in the fields of academic study, volunteering, and other sectors. Masa Israel Journey Goes Online The first Masa Israel website was built in 2007 to serve as an easily-accessible source of information enabling users to learn about the organization, peruse a comprehensive list of programs and find or create the perfect Masa Israel experience for themselves. In the last few years, a large number of programs have been established for high school graduates not affiliated with a youth movement. These programs, many of which are only five months, offer compelling activities for young adults who did not grow up in a movement, but are still interested in coming to Israel after high school. Today, some Zionist movements also, offer alternatives for youth movement members who want to come to Israel for shorter periods than the classic training year. The Bina mechina in south Tel Aviv, the Aardvark Program, Yachad Program – pre-military mechina programs (IBC, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand,) Aviv (Australians), the Prepa program (for French speakers) and the MIR (FSU) Aliyah preparatory program are all examples of gap years initiatives accredited by Masa Israel Journey. Throughout the program, Daniella lived in Jerusalem and Ra’anana, enjoyed cultural enrichment days, participated in trips around Israel, and got to know the local community on an intimate level. I will never forget my time here, and I will recommend to my friends to take part in Masa because it is the most amazing thing that ever happened to me in my life!" www.masaisrael.org 5252 The Masa Israel Journey 51 2006 e, To dat ,200 9 1 some dults have a g youn rticipated pa sa! in Ma The Second Lebanon War – Heading North in Solidarity 100 New Leaders of the Jewish People The Second Lebanon War broke out in Summer 2006, during which thousands of rockets were fired on the communities of northern Israel and over one million residents of the north found themselves confined to bomb shelters and protected areas in buildings. During the war, a mission of some 800 Masa participants traveled to the northern communities by train in order to support them during this difficult period. For the Masa participants, this was a first-time encounter with the complex reality of residents of the north living near the Lebanese border. The Masa participants made their utmost efforts to help the locals in any way possible. A few weeks after the end of the hostilities, many Masa participants asked to return to the north and see the community again. The first Masa Israel Leadership Summit commenced with 100 Jewish participants from all over the world. The goal of the Summit was to prepare the Masa participants for their return to their communities as the next generation of Jewish leadership and as ambassadors for Israel in the world. Throughout the Summit, participants gained leadership skills and learned ways to share their experiences in Israel with others. Daniel Schwartz Masa participants at the leadership conference Masa Israel Journey opens its first office outside Israel Following increasing demand from American Jews to participate in Masa programs, Masa Israel Journey opened its first office abroad in New York. The office in the United States engages in a number of key tasks: recruitment, marketing and communications, organizing missions of professionals in dedicated fields, help with developing new programs for the target audience, and creating cooperation with major bodies in Jewish communities. The office in New York sponsors regional Masa representatives in major centers in North America: Los Angeles, Chicago, Minneapolis, Miami, Detroit, Metro West, Washington DC, Cleveland and Toronto. At the same time, partners of Masa Israel around the world (including shlichim and local workers in the Jewish communities) undertake similar work, although on a smaller scale, and based on accepted marketing practices in the communities. A Personal Story Daniel Schwartz 18, of Los Angeles, California, USA decided to participate in a Masa program at the Eretz HaZvi yeshiva after graduating from high school. He appreciates the level of study at the yeshiva and particularly enjoys studying philosophy and Bible with the rabbis. After his year in Israel, Daniel plans on studying economics and philosophy. "What could be better than trying to understand the nature of life and its ultimate goal than to do so in the country of my heritage, the country of my people? The degree of my tenacity in addressing the question to this answer will determine the path I choose to follow for the rest of my life. Then, before I set off on my journey, before I begin the experience of this year of my life, I must think. I have to ask questions. I have to reflect on and deeply consider my tradition, in order to understand the deep, root questions of humanity and the purpose of the existence of man." They spoke with him about the essence of Hanukkah and shared their personal feelings towards the holiday. At the end of the meeting, the Masa participants presented the Prime Minister with a hanukkiah and they lit the Hanukkah candles together. Masa participants continued marking Lag B'Omer, which over the years became one of the most-anticipated events. One Lag B'Omer, participants also marked the 65th anniversary of the creation of the Palmach and "reopened" Burma Road which was first opened by the Harel Division. Former Palmach fighters waited for them at one of the stations along the way and shared their stories with them. It was a very moving event, both for the veteran fighters and for the Masa participants, who had the incredible opportunity to hear stories of Israeli heroism straight from the source. Getting to Israel just got easier – Masa Israel Journey establishes a scholarship fund In order to make it easier for young Diaspora Jews to come to Israel on a Masa Israel Journey program, the decision was made to establish a grants and scholarships system. The grants & scholarship system processed all scholarship applications from participants, with scholarship ammounts determined according to country of origin, age and financial need. Masa’s grants and scholarships make it financially easier for Masa participants to come to Israel for a long stay, thereby significantly helping to increase the number of participants in Masa programs. The grants and scholarships are funded by The Jewish Agency for Israel through donors from Jewish communities around the world, and by the Government of Israel. 5656 I learned a lot about the whole history of the State of Israel, Israeli society, Zionism, our people, our home, the country of all Jews. Stanley Fisher's Journey The first major Masa event took place at Beit Guvrin, and was attended by 2,000 Masa participants. Stanley Fisher was the guest of honor. As the Bank of Israel Governor, Stanley Fisher was one of the most prominent graduates of the prestigious yearlong training program in Israel, which is now a Masa program. Stanley came to Israel as part of The Jewish Agency in 1960. The Machon was designed to strengthen the connection of young people in the Diaspora with Israel and to train young people to be leaders in Zionist youth movements abroad. Each year the Institute offers educational training for around 450 young Jews from around the world. Many alumni took on leadership roles in their communities or made aliyah and assumed key positions in Israeli society. It is a tradition for members of Zionist youth movements around the world to come to Israel for a year after completing high school. The classic gap year is based on each movement's ideological principles. The year is viewed as a continuation of the movement's activities with the intention that the participants will return to their communities and become the next generation of leaders in their movement. During the course of the year, participants join in on a variety of activities, including a course at the Machon, time on a kibbutz, volunteer work in cities, and various other experiences, such as Marva, an introduction to the IDF, and Magen David Adom, receiving basic EMT training. Youth movements with gap year programs in Israel include Hashomer Hatzair, World Maccabi, Habonim Dror, Bnei Akiva, Zionist Youth, and World Betar. These movements are active around the world and host programs in multiple languages. A Personal Story Rivka Kaplan 19, of Mexico participated in a gap year program through Masa Israel Journey. Thanks to the educational framework of her program, Rivka gained both the tools and the motivation she needed to enhance the educational programming of her movement in Mexico. "For four months I was part of a leaders' institute program where I learned a lot about the whole history of the state of Israel, Israeli society, Zionism, Judaism and all sorts of things about our people, our home, and the country of all Jews. "One of the most important things I got from my experience at the leaders' institute was the opportunity to get to know a lot of people from all kinds of countries. I was moved by the realization that they have the same interests as me – to safeguard the continuation of the Jewish people through education. I can say that, to date, I had one of the best and most amazing experiences of my life in Israel." The Masa Israel Journey 55 2004 The Journey Begins The Government of Israel and The Jewish Agency for Israel identified the need for an organization that would lead and coordinate long-term programs in Israel. The decision to launch Masa Israel reflects the great importance that the Government of Israel and The Jewish Agency for Israel attach to reinforcing the bond of young Jews from the Diaspora with the State of Israel, their Jewish identities and their home communities. The late Ariel Sharon The Origin of the Name of Masa Israel Journey The use of the word "masa" (journey) indicates the dynamic approach at the root of this initiative. Masa is a process in which you set off from a point of origin and gather experiences along the way, until you reach your destination. Coming to Israel, and the period you spend here, comprises only one stage of a sequence of developmental processes which continue after the end of the program. While in Israel, Masa participants accumulate formative experiences which stay with them for the rest of their lives. I had already been to Israel, but Masa is a completely different experience David Rosenberg The Wide World of Masa Israel Journey Masa Israel Journey offers young Jews from around the world over 300 different programs in a wide range of areas. We work to provide a wide array of choices so that every young person interested in coming to Israel can find a program that suits them. All Masa programs are obligated to include seven educational elements which comprise at least 20% of the program’s time. These elements, which are also called "the Masa Israel Journey DNA," include Hebrew studies and exposure to Israeli culture and art. The rest of the time the programs address their core topics. The various Masa programs can be divided into 8 main fields of activity: programs for youth movements, programs for high school graduates, Judaic studies programs, academic programs, career development programs, professional training, volunteer programs and niche experiential programs. A Personal Story David Rosenberg 27, is originally from Brooklyn, New York and participated in the Israel Way Tel Aviv Internship Experience program. This is an internship program for participants looking to gain professional experience. David specialized in robot engineering on the program, including working with robots, quality assurance, and design. During his stay in Israel, David says he felt very much at home. His connection with Israel strengthened as he immersed himself in Israeli society on a deeper level than he expected. "I had visited Israel before, but Masa is a completely different experience. I am really getting a feeling of what it’s like to live here on a day-to-day basis." This project is one of the most important Zionist ventures in the Jewish world today. Over the past decade, tens of thousands of young Jews from every Jewish community in the Diaspora have received grants from Masa Israel to study, volunteer and intern in Israel. We started this initiative to immerse them in the state of Israel, the country of the Jewish people, with the intention of strengthening their Jewish and Zionist consciousness. There is nothing more important for the future of the Jewish people than making an educational and values-based investment in the members of the younger generation. The future of our nation depends on the continuity of the generations, and Masa Israel is one of the main means of achieving this aim. Today it is clear to anyone invested in the future of the Jewish people in the Diaspora that Masa Israel Journey is a tremendous success, both in quantitative and qualitative terms, strengthening the Jewish people and the State of Israel. Each year Masa Israel Journey brings young Jews aged 18 to 30 to Israel, providing meaningful and immersive experiences in Israel which incorporate volunteering and contributing to the communities in which they live. Masa Israel Journey is a magnet for young Jews from around the world, many of whom come to study, volunteer and intern in Israel and even choose to make aliyah, while others become ambassadors for the state of Israel when they return to their home communities. A joint initiative of the Government of Israel and The Jewish Agency for Israel, Masa Israel Journey is an umbrella organization providing grants and scholarships to Jewish young adults from the Diaspora aged 18 to 30 who come to participate in Iong-term programs in Israel (between five to ten months in duration). Each year, Masa Israel Journey calls on thousands of young adults to have challenging, formative and unique experiences in Israel which strengthen participant’s Jewish identity and encourage engagement with both Israel, the global cultural Jewish center, and their Diaspora communities. Masa Israel offers participants leadership and advocacy skills to provide an educated response to criticism of Israel, and fosters alumni relations in order to help returnees leverage their experiences in Israel and reintegrate them into their home Jewish communities. All Masa Israel Journey programs incorporate Hebrew studies, Israel education, encounters with Israelis and volunteering in Israeli society, and offer opportunities for personal and professional growth. Immersion in Israeli society strengthens common cultural denominators and facilitates a bond between Diaspora Jews and their Israeli counterparts. Research conducted among alumni of long-term programs in Israel indicates that participants gain a deeper understanding of their Jewish identity, exhibit lower rates of intermarriage, are more likely to send their children to Jewish schools, are more likely to engage in Israel- related activities , visit Israel more frequently, and some even make aliyah. Those who choose not to make aliyah will go on to become the next generation of Jewish leaders in the Diaspora. Masa Israel participants become excellent cultural ambassadors for Israel on campuses, in the communities where they live, in their work places, at events, and in other arenas. There are currently some 140 program organizers accredited by Masa Israel Journey which operate around 300 programs including volunteer programs (Masa Israel Teaching Fellows, Magen David Adom, kibbutz life and working with minority populations), internships, academic studies (Judaic studies and study abroad programs), global youth movement programs, and experiential programs based on fields of interest (dance, music, martial arts, the environment/sustainability, archeology and more). The organizers are the foundation of Masa Israel Journey, providing meaningful experiences for Jewish young adults tailored to their interests. Since Masa Israel Journey’s inception, over 86,000 Jews have come to Israel to from around the world to participate in our programs.
