Annual Education Report (AER) Cover Letter
August 2012
Dear Parents and Community Members:
We are pleased to present you with the Annual Education Report (AER) which provides key
information on the 2011-12 educational progress for Grand Blanc High School. The AER
addresses the complex reporting information required by federal and state laws. The school’s
report contains information about student assessment, Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and
teacher quality. If you have any questions about the AER, please contact me.
The AER is available for you to review electronically by visiting the following web site:
www.grandblancschools.org, or you may review a copy in my office at Grand Blanc High School.
For 2011-2012, Grand Blanc High School made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in the tested
subjects (mathematics, reading, science, social studies and writing; as appropriate for the school
grade levels tested). While we are pleased to have reached this important goal, we are
continuously working to improve. We appreciate the continued support of parents, staff and our
community in this effort.
State law requires that we also report additional information.
Grand Blanc High School continues to provide excellent educational opportunities for the
community's future citizens. Our mission is a complex challenge in a rapidly changing society
and we believe all students can learn; therefore, we will establish high standards and create an
environment that engages our students in academic work, resulting in high levels of
achievement.
Our continued success and steps to improve are dependent upon your informed support. The
higher your level of awareness about Grand Blanc High School, the better your decisions will be
regarding the futures of our students’ education and our community.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Hammond, Ph.D.
Principal

ANNUAL EDUCATION REPORT FOR
GRAND BLANC HIGH SCHOOL
1. PROCESS FOR ASSIGNING PUPILS TO THE SCHOOL
Resident students attend the school in the attendance area of the Grand Blanc Community
School District in which they reside. The Grand Blanc Community School District does
have a policy and a process for School of Choice requests. Copies of this policy and
procedures are available through the Central Administration Office.
2. THE STATUS OF THE 3-5 YEAR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN
Grand Blanc High School has been accredited by the North Central Association of Schools
and Colleges since 1963-64. During the 2005-2006 school year, the high school
completed its five-year cycle. The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools
certified that Grand Blanc High School met all of the requirements for the Outcomes
Endorsement. The Outcomes Endorsement signifies that the school documented higher
student achievement and remains committed to continuous improvement.
All schools in our district were awarded continued accreditation in 2011 by AdvancED, the
first year of a five year cycle.
