Many of the activities are in popular demand and some of the
providers prefer smaller groups, so this makes it important to
consider booking the activities in advance. If you find a tour you
really like, make sure to get a place booked before you leave for
Tromsø and Northern Norway.

Some tours might be full, but there are always other possibilities.
This makes it possible to book activities after you arrive in Tromsø.

hotels or the Tourist Information Office.
If you require assistance, please ask your hotel receptionist or
the staff at the Tourist Information Office.
The weather in Tromsø is unpredictable. It can change rapidly,
from fine and warm to cold and rainy. If you go on a day trip or
a longer hike, it is best to be prepared for this change in weather
conditions to make sure you have a nice experience. Regardless of
the season, clothing must be able to transport moisture away from
your body. Consider the conditions and the level of activity on the
trip, and dress accordingly, in layers: first a layer of underwear,
then one or more intermediate layers and, finally, an outer layer.
Multiple layers of clothing enable you to regulate warmth and
protection by putting on or taking off garments.

Tromsø Kunstforening: What’s Life Anyway
Verker fra Jenny and Antti Wihuri Stiftelses samling. Utstillingen er et resultat av samarbeid
med Rovaniemi kunstmuseum som forvalter samlingen og som generøst har latt oss gjøre vårt
eget utvalg fra deres samling. Dermed kan vi denne sommeren presentere en utstilling fra en av
Finlands største og viktigste private samtidskunstsamlinger i Tromsø.
Works from the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation’s collection. The exhibition is in collaboration
with the Rovaniemi Art Museum (Finland), which generously has given us the opportunity to
present our own selection from its collection. For the first time in Norway, we are able to present an exhibition showcasing artists and artworks from one of the largest and most important
private collections of Finnish contemporary art.

The great Arctic Ocean may be the greatest attraction during summer;
experiences in kayaks or canoes, fishing trips, and exploring the archipelago
are but some of the activities available.
Ever since the early 1900s Tromsø has been the starting point for a host of
expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic regions. In this section you’ll find tours
that can awaken your exploratory side, either by canoe or a rigid inflatable
boat (RiB)- all with Tromsø as the starting point.

Når strømmen er på sitt sterkeste kan havet mellom Ryøya og Kvaløya renne som en liten elv.
Mange fugler og fiskearter holder til i området rundt Rystrømmen. Når du kaster sluken kan
både sei, torsk, steinbit bite på. Er du heldig kan til og med kveita, dronningen i havet, bite på
snøret. Fangsten koker vi om bord til lunsj. MS Zapffe er en komfortabel båt.
At its strongest, the current between the islands of Ryøya and Kvaløya runs like a small river.
Many species of birds and fish can be found in this area, which is called Rystrømmen. When you
drop a fishing line, you may catch an assortment of cod, wolfish and saithe (pollock). If you’re
lucky, a halibut, the queen of the ocean, could bite your lure. The catch will be cooked on board
for lunch. The MS Zapffe is a very comfortable boat.

Given its location on an island surrounded by steep mountains and peaks, it
is natural for Tromsø to offer a wide variety of activities for those who prefer
heights. We recommend a trip to Lyngen. Here, mountain peaks rising 1833
m directly from the fjord, blue glaciers, cascading rivers, gleaming mountain
lakes, deep ravines and black scree are some of the natural attractions.
We also offer both Icelandic and the Lyngen Horse - and husky dogs in abundance. Whether you just want to greet them or go out on tour, we offer an

More than 300 friendly Alaskan huskies await you on arrival at Tromsø Villmarkssenter. Some
