August 8, 2012 Dear Parents and Community Members: We are pleased to present you with the Annual Education Report (AER) which provides key information on the 2011-2012 educational progress for the Commonwealth Community Development Academy. The AER addresses the complex reporting information required by federal and state laws. The school’s report contains information about student assessment, Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and teacher quality. For 2011-2012, Commonwealth Community Development Academy made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in English language arts, Mathematics and Science. While we are pleased to have reached this important goal, we are continuously working to improve. We appreciate the continued support of parents, staff and our community in this effort. Commonwealth Academy administers the Iowa Test of Basic Skills annually to measure student academic growth for the school year. Representation of the outcomes can be found on the school website at www.cwdacademy.com under the Annual Education Report tab. On average, only 75% of parents attend school sponsored events. We are striving to increase parental involvement. A student’s success hinges on the level of parental involvement. Commonwealth has made AYP for 8 consecutive years. This is a tremendous accomplishment and I want to thank the parents and students for their hard work.
