If possible include the registration numbers of the horses. If parentage testing is required the samples of both parents must be included, if not previously tested. Reg. (as indicated on the sample) only) Notification Nr. COLLECTION OF SAMPLES For blood samples: Collect 1 sample from each horse. Please use EDTA (purple stopper tubes) and label clearly with the horse name as indicated on the form. For hair samples: Locate the coarsest hairs you can find (preferably tail). Hold the hairs close to the skin and pull. Important: DO NOT CUT HAIRS. Visually inspect the hairs for intact roots. Enclose at least 20-40 strands of dry hair in an envelope. Label each individual envelope with the name of the animal sampled. COST OF TEST (vat incl.) Routine DNA Profile / sample submitted: R225 SCID (if previously profiled): Re sample: Parentage verification is performed at no additional cost and reported to the Arab Horse Society. Both parents must be profiled for parentage verification and their profiles must be available on the OPVGL database. Each new parent sample submitted will be tested at R225 / sample. Previously profiled animals need not be retested. DNA numbers will be reported to the Arab Horse Society for registration purposes. R150 if you agree that we can send the result to the Arab horse society R150 when samples were submitted where we are not able to obtain a profile from the sample, hair samples submitted without hair roots. Special case: R255 – to determine unknown parent / parents /unknown horse Please supply a copy of the Birth Notification with each foal sample submitted to ensure that all the relevant animal details are added to the VGL database for future reference! R330 if you do not want the results to be sent to the Arab Horse society. R440 Special DNA Profile: Bone samples: R1000 Please note: Test results will only be made available after receipt of all relevant samples and full payment. One copy of the results will be sent to the owner / submitter as named in the upper left hand corner. Please indicate the preferred method for sending results. LFS (Lavender Foal Syndrome): CA (Cerebellar Abiotrophy): An International DNA typing certificate can be issued at the request of the appropriate registering authority and may be subject to an additional charge of R70.
