Abstract
This guidance contains instruction and sample format for an article to be published in Jurnal Sains
Indonesia for an article to be written in English. For author(s) planning to write the article in Bahasa
Indonesia, please find the guidance in Bahasa Indonesia version. The article should begin with an
abstract written in the same language as used for the whole article. For an article written in Bahasa
Indonesia, however, an English version of the abstract has to be added following the abstract in
Bahasa Indonesia. The abstract content has to be typed with 9-point font, while the abstract title has to
be bold-printed with 10-point font and centered as in this sample. The abstract must not contain more
than 200 words. The number of pages of the article should be 3 (three) pages at minimum and 12
(twelve) pages at maximum. The style of the article may be up to the author(s), however the article
should in general cover such components as INTRODUCTION, THEORETICAL or
EXPERIMENTAL METHOD, RESULTS and DISCUSSION, and CONCLUSION or SUMMARY,
presented in order. The article manuscript can be submitted by mail to the Editor of Jurnal Sains
Indonesia, Division of Research and Public Services FMIPA-UI, Kampus UI Depok 16424, or
via email to the email address [email protected].
Keywords: Write at maximum five key words in English with 9-point Italic font.
1. INTRODUCTION
Please type your article using MS Word and submit the manuscript file to [email protected] with the title of
your article and the name of the author.
To expedite the writing process of your article, you can request for this sample format through email to
[email protected] or download in http://sci.ui.ac.id/sains-indonesia. The author can use this sample format as a
template, namely he/she can directly type his/her article in the MS Word file of the sample format by replacing
the content of the sample format with the content of his/her actual article. In this way, the author does not have to
be bothered with the detail of the rule for writing his/her manuscript. In case the author wants to write the
manuscript from scratch (i.e. without using the template), it is recommended that he/she carefully read this
guidance before writing the manuscript.
2. METHOD
The article should be printed on a standard A4 paper. The margins in each page must be set as the following:
left margin to 30 mm, right margin to 20 mm, top and bottom margins to 25 mm. The article must be typed in
one-column format with spacing one. The text must be typed using Times New Roman font. The article title
must be placed at the top most of the first page, centered, and bold-printed using 14-point font. A blank line of
14-point font size must inserted underneath the title. Following the blank line down below are the name(s) of the
author(s) (first, second, and next author) typed with 10-point font, another blank line of 10-point font size, and
the name(s) and the address(es) of the affiliated institute(s) that must also be typed with 10-point font and
centered. The name of the corresponding author must be underlined. Following these down below, a blank line
of 12-point font size should be inserted before the abstract title, the the abstract title follows, followed by another
blank line of 12-point font size, then followed again by the abstract text.
Sections must be numbered and typed in capital letters and bold-faced with 12-point font. A blank line of 16point font must be inserted before beginning the text. The text must be typed with 10-point font. Equations must
be numbered in order as shown in the example of Eq. (1) below
∫ B.ds = 0
(1)
3. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
If the article needs to be supported by some data in a table format, the author can use a long (two-column)
format table as shown in Table 1, or a short (one-column) format table as shown in Table 2, as examples.

The table must be numbered and given a table title (typed in Italic with 10-point font). The fonts in the table
must be of 10-point size. The table must be placed in center with its left and right borders not exceeding the
margins of the text column.
Other experimental or theoretical data can be displayed in form of figures (graphs or pictures). See Fig. 1 as
an example. The figure title along with the caption must be placed underneath the figure and typed with 10-point
Italic font. Depending on the size needed, a figure can be placed in either one- or two-column format. Position of
the figure must be centered. For a figure taken from a photograph, the resolution must be not lower than 300 dpi.
The numbering of tables and figures have to be made in order.

References must be placed at the end of the article and arranged in order according to the order of citations in
the text. A citation number must follow a statement in the text that refers to a reference in the list of references.
The citation number must be typed in an Arabic numeral placed in square brackets, such as [1], [2], etc. A
reference must be written with the title of the article following the names of the author(s) as can be seen in the
example of references list at the end of this guidance.
4. CONCLUSION
This guidance is provided to make the author(s) feel easy to write the article in compliance with the format
required by Jurnal Sains Indonesia. The compliance of the author(s) with the required article format would help
the board of editor in carrying out all the necessary steps of procedure for the article to be published in Jurnal
Sains Indonesia.
