Therapeutic Modalities have been used in treating patients for decades. However, the effects of modalities on
biological tissues are often not fully understood by the healthcare professionals that employ them and the technology
surrounding certain modalities has evolved, with the equipment changing significantly. A well-rounded healthcare
professional must, understand the indications and contraindications of traditional and recent modalities, and be able
to effectively combine them with other therapeutic treatments to improve functional performance in patients.
This workshop will demystify the biomedical principles that drive various therapeutic modalities and show you how to
combine the use of modalities with manual therapy techniques to improve your patients’ performance and help them
to reach functional goals. You will learn effective new applications for traditional equipment used in the clinic. There
will be a live demonstration and practice session involving e-stim, light and ultrasound, and advancements in other
equipment and research will be discussed. This workshop will marry the latest cutting edge technology with effective
manual therapy techniques and treatment strategies to make you a more skillful therapist and allow you to show
functional gain in your patient base.
