Dear Church Family,
I am so blessed to be the pastor of such a
wonderful church. As I listened to Brother
Shaw preach, God impressed this truth upon
my heart - you have been served well by a
long succession of good and faithful pastors.
In 1996, Bro. Tony Smitherman
eloquently articulated our purpose when he
said, “We are a church – a center of worship,
a place of refuge, a lighthouse in our
community.” May West End Baptist Church
forever be a place where Almighty God is
worshiped, troubled hearts are comforted,
and the light of the Gospel shines forth to
dispel the darkness of our world.
Years earlier, Bro. Cecil Sewell
prophetically stated about our church, “We
are proud of our beautiful church buildings.
Yet our church is not made up of buildings.
It is a living church. Its stones are people.
The strength of our church lies with them –
men, women, children, and youth. In
proportion as they give themselves in total
commitment to Christ and His way of life
will our church be strong.”
In the years ahead, will you join me in
giving your all and your best to Christ
through the work of our church? May we be
found faithful by those who come behind us.
Joyfully Serving Jesus,
Bro. Daniel

The Men of West End
All men and boys are invited to join us
for the monthly WEBC Men’s Breakfast
on Sunday, October 12, at 7:00 a.m.
What a wonderful way to begin the new WMU Church
Year! We surpassed the Kathleen Mallory offering goal
by giving $6,698.00 to Alabama state WMU mission
projects. Praise God, He is pouring out blessing after
blessing upon us.
The mission yard sale will be held Saturday, October
4. Please get your donated items in to the “mission
house” by October 2. There’s no time to wait! Yard sale
items turn into cash for missions.
The medical mission team will be leaving October 9
to partner with the Praying Pelican Missions
Organization, on a trip to Belize, in Central America for
medical clinic, health education and Vacation Bible
School. Those going on this trip are: Ruthie Acton, Joe
and Melissa Cole, Sheena Coker and Jessie Gore. Pray
for God’s blessings on the team and the people.
The World Hunger Offering will be collected on
Sunday, October 12. Look for offering envelopes
throughout the church. All monies collected will feed
hungry people throughout the world. While we eat
heartily, many have none. “I was hungry and you fed
me.” Matthew 25:35.
It’s time to pack a Christmas Shoe Box. Be sure to
read your instruction pamphlet first. Each shoe box is a
message of love from God to the children of the world.
Thank you Mrs. Judy Perkins (the “Doll Lady” and Mr.
Joe) and all of the G.A. girls for every doll made.
The next Women on Mission meeting is Wednesday
night, October 15.

West End Baptist Church
First of all, let me say thank you to everyone
who participated in the Reunion Choir for our
65th Anniversary Celebration! We would love
to have you sing with us each and every week.
The worship choir is preparing for Christmas
and I can’t wait to share the wonderful message
of “The Light of Christmas” on December 14.
Our handbell choir is going strong, and all
of our children will sing in the morning
services at some point this month!
As I think about all of the generations
represented throughout our music ministry, I
am reminded of the words of David in Psalm
145:4, “One generation shall praise Your
works to another, And shall declare Your
mighty acts.” I love worshiping with you!
In Christ,
Bro. Jason

World Hunger Day
Sunday, October 12, 2014
SBC missionaries are offering food for the
body and soul through your gifts to World Hunger.
Some ideas to consider: Give the amount of your
grocery bill for two weeks, give the amount it would cost
your family to go out to a nice restaurant, or give a $1.00
for every time your refrigerator is opened this week.
While you were reading this newsletter, an
estimated 36 children somewhere in the world
died from malnutrition or starvation. What are
you willing to do to help?
100% of your gift to World Hunger is used to
minister to the hungry in Jesus’ Name.
