Things to Do in Baltimore
The weather in October in Baltimore is typically in the low 50s to low 70s.
Baltimore has plenty to see and do. Baltimore’s Inner Harbor has many stories to tell, from its
heyday in the 18th century as the nation’s leading shipbuilding site, to a major site for oyster
canning, steel working, railroad building, immigration port and military supply center. In 1980,
the Inner Harbor area underwent a major revitalization with the addition of many attractions,
hotels, restaurants and shops. Today, the Inner Harbor is a major tourist destination and port of
call for cruise ships.
This year commemorates the 200th anniversary where Baltimore
defended the nation at Fort McHenry Sept. 13–14, 1814, and where
the Star-Spangled Banner flew to inspire Francis Scott Key to write the
words that would later become our national anthem. For information
on special events for this 200th anniversary, visit
www.starspangled200.org.
Other interesting attractions are the National Aquarium, American
Visionary Art Museum, Fells Point and Little Italy. Baltimore is also
home to the world-famous Baltimore Orioles baseball team and Super
Bowl XXXV and XLVII champs, the Baltimore Ravens.
