We had a successful C&B weekend at St. Frances on September 6&7. We set a record for the number of books sold. Thanks to C&B chairman Mike Alliksen and all Brother Knights who helped. On September 12&13, the Squires and Knights had another successful Food Drive in front of King Kullen. We collected 17 shopping carts of food, cash donations and gift cards. 100% of everything collected was given to St. Frances’ Parish Outreach. Thanks to Russ Merendino, Chief Counselor, the Squires, and several Brother Knights that assisted. Our Blood Drive on September 15 was a huge success. A total of 46 pints of blood were collected. This was the most successful drive that we have ever hosted! Thanks to all who helped, especially Brother Pete Brancazio. Pete arrived early to open the council and noticed that all the tables and chairs needed to be put away. Pete single handedly broke down all the tables and stacked up all the chairs. If it wasn’t for him, the Blood Drive may not have taken place. Thanks Pete! The 300 club had its bi-annual member party on September 27 at St. Frances. Almost 100 members attended and enjoyed a delicious hot buffet. Please see any of the chairmen to purchase or renew your number. We had a Membership Drive at St. Frances on September 27&28. Thanks to all Knights, Squires and Columbiettes who were available to answer questions after all the Masses. Our main fundraiser of the year, Casino Night, is on Saturday October 18 at 7:00 pm. Help is needed getting table sponsors, gifts, selling tickets and supervising the event. Please give some of your time to ensure it is a success. On Sunday October 19, serving help is needed for John Theissen’s Freaky 5k. Members should arrive at the council at 7:30 am. The Craft Fair will be held on Saturday November 22 in St. Frances’ gym. Deputy Grand Knight Bill Devlin will once again chair the event. Please give Bill all the help he needs. Magnet sales are scheduled to begin in mid-November as well as the Keep Christ in Christmas poster contest. We are in the planning stages to have a huge fundraiser at St. Frances in May, 2015. Information will be available once it has been finalized. Vivat Jesus, John P. Chantal Chatter October 2014 Page 4 St. Frances de Chantal Knights of Columbus 300 Club Update – 5th Round – Report # 2 We held the 300 Club semi-annual party on September 27th where a very delicious Buffet dinner was served followed by a fabulous dessert that was enjoyed by 90 Club members. It was relaxing and enjoyable for everyone. What really added to the success was your support of the 300 Club and the help we got from our Brother Knights and members of their families. I would be remiss if I did not take the time to say “Thank you” to everyone who lent their time. I thank the committee members that I work with and appreciate our wives who were an enormous help. We are thankful to the following: Russ and Joanne Merendino and their young son Michael who was a tremendous help to me; Tom Marcinek, Charlie Buonocore, Ken Iadarola, Tom and Luellen Casey, Joe Dalto, John and Kathleen Casella and their son John, Rose and John Caracappa and lastly, Lou Danetti who set up his DJ equipment to bring music to our party at no cost to us. At this semi-annual party we had 8 drawings and the big bonus drawing for $500 was won by Terry Campbell # 26. The other 7 winning numbers were drawn and the winners were: J. Colini A. Antonette The Squires J. Mahon # 102 # 104 # 98 # 105 $100 $50 $30 $30 E. Dalto A. McCauley G. Galati # 180 # 126 # 64 $50 $30 $30 The 50/50 drawing was a huge success. Maryann Parmese worked the table and floor most effectively with Kathleen Casella, Rose and John Caracappa to the tune of $760! A big win! There were three winners - $200, $100 and $80. We then called 4 numbers drawn from the 50/50 tickets where the winners took home a fine bottle of Australian wine. As a reminder, the 6th Round begins on October 1st and will end on Saturday night, March 28, 2015. That’s a date to remember because it is when we will hold our next semi-annual party. I am hopeful that those of you who have not paid your 6th Round dues of $30, will do so by contacting any one of us listed below.
