TWENTY-EIGHTH SUNDAY
IN ORDINARY TIME
Is 25:6-10a; Ps 23; Phil 4:12-14; Mt 22:1-14
In the twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time we hear
the story from Matthew about the King who gave a
banquet for his son and invited many guests. It is a
powerful story about rejecting Jesus’ own invitation
and about God’s universal invitation to a new group of
“chosen” people.

Cookies and Prayers for KAIROS
Our KAIROS Parish volunteers are still looking for cookie donations through
October 16 for the October 23-26 weekend. Please consider taking a few
minutes with your family to bake a couple dozen cookies, pray over them and
pack them into a ziploc baggie. Please bring your cookies to the collection
boxes at the PAC.
Visiting the imprisoned is a Work of Mercy that most of us would find difficult to
accomplish. The KAIROS team makes it easy on us by allowing up to help with
their ministry in manageable ways.
Renee Dvorsky writes: I am blessed to be serving on KAIROS #41 at the Ohio Reformatory for
Women on November 6-9th, 2014. This is a prison ministry that brings Christ into the prison and
helps residents know that God loves them! Prayer is the foundation of our weekend. We can’t have
a weekend without prayer. I am asking for prayers from 11 a.m. Thursday, November 6 through 8
p.m. Sunday, November 9.
I am also asking for donations for the weekend. It is estimated that the cost is around $350 per
resident. There are 42 residents who participate on a KAIROS weekend. My personal goal is to
raise enough money to pay for one resident.
Renee will also need cookies and will accept cookie donations the week of
October 26 through November 1 for her KAIROS service weekend. If you
would like to visit the imprisoned through Renee, please contact her or send
donation to: Renee Dvorsky, 9640 Ward Road, Plain City, OH 43064 or phone:
(614)504-5907.

Reflection: In the Scripture story of the rich man and the
beggar, Lazarus, the rich man did not go to hell because he
was rich. He went to hell because he ignored the other
man. Lazarus had less so that he was worth less. He failed to
recognize that Lazarus was his brother. Lazarus was waiting
at the door of the rich man for scraps of food; the Lazarus
of our day, the unborn child, is waiting at the door of the
womb for birth itself. God does not only prohibit aborting
the unborn; he prohibits ignoring them.
