Greg 0413 701 489 Woman bit police A former Wembley resident has been jailed for 18 months for a string of offences, including biting police. She also hit her flatmate with a mop. Kate Jane Raleigh was also charged with failing to stop, disorderly behaviour in public, obstructing police, and reckless driving in October last year and January this year. Last Friday, Magistrate Kevin Tavener said that over three days last October, Ms Raleigh had driven into a police car, sworn at police, and behaved strangely in a pub. Magistrate Tavener said Ms Raleigh had bitten a police officer through her glove and trousers when she was being transferred from a padded cell. In January, while she was living in Herdsman Parade, Wembley, Ms Raleigh (28) had argued with her flatmate because she was convinced the woman was not listening to her. The woman needed 15 stitches in a foot and five staples in her head after Ms Raleigh had hit her with a steel mop. During an interview, Ms Raleigh spat at a police officer and punched her before kicking another officer in the head and biting her arm. Magistrate Tavener said a psychiatrist’s report showed Ms Raleigh had a troubled history. He made her eligible for parole and backdated her sentence to begin from January 11. Shewas also fined $2100.
