BDT/AMRO-Brasilia/141 Brasilia, 18 September 2014 ITU Member States, Regulators and ITU-D Sector Members in the Americas region Subject: Panel on Conformance and Interoperability for the Americas Region and other ITU regional activities - Futurecom 2014, São Paulo, Brazil Dear Madam /Sir: The WTDC-14 Dubai Declaration recognized that the widespread of conformance and interoperability (C&I) of telecommunication/ICT equipment and systems through the implementation of relevant programmes, policies and decisions can increase market opportunities and reliability and encourage global integration and trade. In the framework of WTDC-14 Resolution 47, I am pleased to inform you that the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in collaboration with the National Telecommunication Agency of Brazil (Anatel) will deliver a series of events to promote the Conformance and Interoperability of ICT equipment in Americas and other relevant regional and international initiatives. Said events will take place during the Futurecom 2014 Congress, a major ICT event in Latin America, that will be held from 13 to 16 October 2014, in São Paulo City, Brazil. The Futurecom is an opportunity to open and forward- debates on technical, regulatory and market issues. Past interactions within Futurecom have shown remarkable interest in type approval and homologation of telecom equipment on the part of public authorities in search of investments as well as by manufacturers and service providers aiming to market their products in the region. It is my pleasure to invite your organization to participate in the Technical Panel on Conformance and Interoperability for the Americas Region, on October 15, from 18:30 to 20:00 pm at the exhibition space Auditório Chile. The panel will engage regulators, manufacturers and other stakeholders in a thorough analysis of the current status and the road ahead for more harmonious C&I programmes.
