AROUND THE TRAPS
LAST CHANCE TO REGISTER for the 16th WIOA Water Infrastructure Group/Endress + Hauser Victorian
Charity Golf Day to be held on Sunday 19th October at the Euroa Golf Club. This has been our main charity
fundraising event for many years and we need your support to make it a success. The day is a great way to
network with others in the water industry, stretch the legs and have some fun at the same time. You don’t
have to be a regular golfer to play and we have plenty of golf sets available if you don’t have your own. It
is only $35 to participate which includes green fees, lunch and some drinks. Corporate members wishing to
sponsor the day, please contact the office. Get a car load together and register to play at
www.wioa.org.au/GolfDay.htm
RESERVE THE DATE – The 2015 WIOA AGM and Weekend Seminar will be held at Club Mulwala on
Saturday 28 February & Sunday 1 March 2015. The event is free to the first 50 WIOA financial members
who register. If the last few years are an indication, the weekend will include some great presentations
and heaps of fun. Keep your eye out for registrations to open via the website.
A reminder that the second book in WIOA’s wastewater series, the Practical Guide to the Operation and
Optimisation of Activated Sludge Wastewater Plants is now available. The 188 page book is bursting with
all the information an activated sludge treatment plant operator would need and costs just $44 (including
GST) plus postage. An order form can be downloaded from the website at www.wioa.org.au/publications/
The challenge to the WIOA Committee to participate in the ALS ICE Bucket Challenge continued in
September with Marcus Boyd from Toowoomba being the next to step up and cop a drenching. Marcus
took the concept a step further than usual by offering to have a bucket tipped on his head for every $50
raised for the Motor Neurone Disease Research Institute of Australia. As a result of $531 being raised,
Marcus had the pleasure of wearing 10 buckets of ice filled water. To keep the Challenge rolling along,
Marcus has nominated qldwater CEO Dave Cameron, Shane Bandiera from Cassowary Coast RC and John
Paulger from Toowoomba RC to participate. You can enjoy watching all the videos by Googling WIOA Ice
Bucket Challenge or on the WIOA YouTube channel www.youtube.com/user/WIOAAustralia. Stay tuned
to see future soakings as the other challenges are completed.
The Bureau of Meteorology has recently released its second Climate and Water Outlook video. The video
covers rainfall, streamflow and temperature for the next three months and beyond. More information at
