Father & daughter headline Pregnancy Center banquet
Reservations are now being taken for the
11th annual fundraising banquet for the Women’s Care Pregnancy Center in Chickasha.
The event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 30
at 6 p.m. in the ballroom at the University of
Science and Arts of Oklahoma.
Featured speakers at the event are the father-daughter team of Jerry Little and Candy
Gibbs. who will give a powerful testimonial
about abortion.
Jerry Little
Candy, the daughter of a youth minister,
would have never thought that she would find herself in a crisis pregnancy.
At 18, with the help of her father, Candy made the devastating choice of
abortion. Their testimony is one of devastation, regret, shame and grief and
the truth of God’s healing grace and unfailing love.
The two have been featured on the radio show, “Parent Talk” with Randy
Carlson and excerpts of Candy and Jerry’s testimony have been also fea-
tured on the national televised program “Family and Marriage Today.”
Today, Little is the coordinator of the men’s
post abortion ministry at the Care Net Crisis
Pregnancy Centers of Amarillo. He also is a
volunteer chaplain for the Youth Center of the
High Plains. Gibbs is the Executive Director
of the Care Net Crisis Pregnancy Centers of
Amarillo. She leads a mentoring program for
teen girls.

Spaghetti Days
The Junior Social Workers organization in Chickasha served their annual Spaghetti Dinner as a fundraiser for the many community projects they support. This Dinner included both a lunch feed and an
evening event. on September 26th. The Chickasha community supports this event by
attending and savoring the spaghetti, salad and desserts.
The Washita Valley Weekly was able to get the list
of ingredients for the spaghetti recipe, and now you
can fix the spaghetti at home. Here are the ingredients:
Tea Party hosts forum on upcoming
sales tax vote Approximately 50 people Thurs-
day evening attended a forum at Canadian Valley
Tech Center organized by the Grady County Tea
Party concerning an upcoming vote on a county-wide
sales tax to fund local fire departments on Thursday
evening at the Canadian Valley Tech Center. Chickasha Mayor Hank Ross spoke about concerns the city
has about the tax. Others, including firemen from
various county volunteer fire departments, spoke
about both for and against the sales tax. The tax will
be a one eighth percent sales tax on all taxable sales
made within Grady County for the next ten years
if approved by voters on Nov. 4th. (Washita Valley
Weekly photo by Wayne Watts)
I guess, just combine all of this together in one
big pot and cook until it is done. Serve and enjoy. Makes enough for a thousand or so. Or, just wait
until next year and these community minded ladies
will do all the work for you.

The Chickasha Police Department is participating in the Project ChildSafe
Program as part of a nationwide initiative to raise awareness about safe and
responsible firearm ownership and storage.
Designed to make homes with firearms safer, the Chickasha Police will be
offering, at no charge, gunlocks to those who want them. Project ChildSafe is
funded by a $5 million
grant from the United
States Department of
Justice and managed by
the National Shooting
Sports Foundation.
Project ChildSafe is a
nationwide program that
promotes safe firearms
handling and storage
practices among all
firearm owners through
the distribution of safety education messages and free firearm Safety Kits. The
kits include a cable-style gun-locking device and a brochure that discusses
safe handling and storage. Since 2003, the Project has partnered with local
law enforcement agencies to distribute more than 36 million safety kits to gun
owners in all 50 states and five U.S. territories.
Project ChildSafe’s success is attributable to law enforcement, elected officials, community leaders, state agencies, businesses, the firearms industry and
individuals who have worked to help raise awareness about the importance of
securely storing firearms in the home.
“The Chickasha Police Department encourages the safe and responsible
ownership of firearms and hope that by partnering with Project ChildSafe we
can help owners be more responsible especially when it comes to children and
firearms,” added Interim Chief Shanon McClain.
Anyone wishing to receive a Project ChildSafe kit should stop by the police
station at 101 N 6th Street in Chickasha or contact a Chickasha Police Officer.

The Challenge
of Housework
One day a housework-challenged husband decided to wash
his sweatshirt.
Seconds after he
stepped into the laundry room, he shouted
to his wife in the other
room, “What setting do
I use on the washing
machine?”
“It depends,”she
replied. “What does it
say on your shirt?”
He yelled back,
“University of Texas.”
