New This Year!
In effort to make schooling safer and more efficient on Sunday morning we will
be offering an afternoon schooling on Saturday from 4-6pm at a cost of $25 per
horse. The fences will be set at 2’6. Schooling must be paid in advance on your
entry. Horses are limited to one schooling session each unless time allows.
Additional warmups will be billed at $25/session.
WNE-PHA Horsemanship Class
Open to current junior members of the WNE-PHA who are qualified for and
competing in the 2014 Medal Finals at any level. The class will be judged and
pinned as two separate classes based on show age of participant: 13 yrs and
under and 14-17 (regardless of Medal Finals show level).
There will be two portions to the score of each participant: the numerical score
(out of 100 possible points) from the Equitation O/F class preceding the Medal
Finals for which the participant is qualified and competing in (Class 1,3,5,7,15,17)
will be added to the score (out of 100 possible points) earned on a written,
multiple choice quiz administered during the Adult Equitation classes.

The questions on the quiz will be based upon the United States Pony Club D
Manual for the 13 yrs and under section. The United States Pony Club C,
B/HA/A Manual will be used for the 14-17 yrs section. Pinning of each section
will be based on the sum of the two scores described above for each participant.
Participants MUST pre enter on their regular Finals entry form.

Winners of each section will receive a $250 scholarship to be used for riding
instruction through a Professional Member of the WNE-PHA.

Short Stirrup Long Stirrup, Pre-Child/Adult
and Children’s Medal will have a flat phase that counts 50%
Adult, Modified Jr and Junior Medal
will have testing to be determined by the judges.
WNE-PHA Hunter Classic
Open to current junior and adult amateur members of the WNE-PHA. The class
will be run as a two round classic, and will be judged on performance and
soundness; suitability and manners to count. To be scored under the open
numerical judging system. Each competitor will jump one round of 8-10 fences at
2’6. The top ten from the first round will return to show over a different course,
in reverse order of their scores in the first round. Scores will be averaged from
both rounds to determine the winners. Trophy and eight ribbons to be awarded.
Riders may not cross enter into 2’ section. 3 barn rule applies to all entries.
WNEPHA 2’ Hunter Classic. This class will run in the same format as the 2’6
classic, and is open to junior and adult amateur riders of the WNE-PHA who
have never shown at fence heights exceeding 2’6. Riders may not cross enter into
the 2’6 classic. 3 barn rule applies to all entries.

From the South: Travel north on Interstate 91 to Route 202 (Exit
16, Holyoke/ South Hadley). Turn right and proceed on north on 202
through Holyoke across the Connecticut River, and around the rotary
to the second exit marked South Hadley Center-Amherst, Route 116
north. Pass the College (approximately 2.5 miles from the exit) on
your right hand side. Make a right on to Park Street (passed a big
brick church). The equestrian center in 1/8th of a mile on your left.
From the North: Travel south on Interstate 91, take Exit 17 (Route
202/Holyoke-South Hadley). Proceed east on Route 141 until it
intersects with Route 202. Turn left on Route 202 North and follow
same directions as above.
From the Massachusetts Turnpike East or West: Take Exit 5
(Holyoke/Chicopee) and bear to the right on exit ramp. At the end of
the ramp, turn left on Route 33 for five miles to Route 116. Turn right
onto 116 and drive approximately 1.5 miles north to the College. Turn
right on Park Street. The Equestrian Center is 1/8 mile on left, after
small bridge.
