CSU COURSE INFO Bachelor of Criminal Justice What is CSU’s Bachelor of Criminal Justice? CSU’s Bachelor of Criminal Justice prepares students for a wide variety of careers in criminal justice and related professions. Students will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to pursue a career in criminal justice or to progress to the Associate Degree in Policing Practice (ADPP) (subject to professional suitability). This course provides an interdisciplinary approach to criminal and social justice issues offering an interesting and varied range of subjects. For those who enter the ADPP via this degree, the aim is to produce highly competent police officers who value integrity, ethical practice and good citizenship. CSU’s graduates possess a strong theoretical background relevant to the nature of criminal justice studies and highly developed critical and analytical skills that draw upon the diverse disciplinary backgrounds relevant to criminal justice. Graduates understand the importance of reflexivity and the application of ethics to enable them to practice good citizenship and apply this to professional practice. Career opportunities Graduates will be prepared for a wide variety of careers in criminal justice as well as honours study. There will be opportunities for further study and career advancement with postgraduate degrees and Higher Degrees by Research offered. GRADUATE PROFILE Workplace learning As a result of the integration of field work placements into the course, students gain an important introduction to diverse professional environments. Students will undertake a 80 to 90-hour workplace learning placement in their last session of study. This placement is geared towards making graduates work ready upon completion of their course. Study by distance education This course is also available by distance education. CSU provides an excellent range of support tools for distance education students with course materials designed to engage and promote active thinking and participation. Materials include pre-prepared week-long schedules, study modules containing activities designed to encourage participants to apply ideas to their workplace, assignments designed to test the mastery and application of course materials, resource materials containing interesting, practical or contentious views, and computer-based education packages.
