Debbie Allen, a Houston native, knows no limits. An accomplished dancer, singer, choreographer, actor, producer and director, Ms. Allen received two Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe for her role on the hit TV series Fame, two Tony nominations for her roles in the revivals of Sweet Charity and West Side Story and received the first Lena Horne Award for Career Achievement. She was also recently honored with the Texas Medal of the Arts for dance. A graduate of Howard University who trained at the Ballet Nacional de Mexico, Ms. Allen continues to work extensively in television, film and theatre. She produced the critically acclaimed film Amistad with Steven Spielberg and Colin Wilson and has choreographed the annual Academy Awards for five years.
