As summer has
come to a close, we are
anxiously awaiting the
return of our winter
members, snowbirds
and of course the cooler
weather. Our returning
members will get to tell
us all about how they
spent their summer
vacation — their exotic
travels, their days on the
vineyard, their new
grandkids and of all the
wonderful new things
that have been
happening in their lives.
But that’s not all, we also
get to tell them how we
spent our summer. For
us this has been a very
exciting summer. We
had a chance to hear
classification talks from
some of our members
and of course enjoy
some really great
speakers.
We are the face of
Rotary, and though we
know that our
organization is 1.2
million members strong
and stretches across 163
countries, never forget
that one of the faces that
makes up that 1.2
million members
belongs to you.
With each
classification talk we
learn something about
our members that make
up Rotary. On last week
I had the opportunity to
share a little about
myself and my role not
Service Above Self
just as the Principal of
the Westcoast School but
as a Psychologist. In this
role, I work with
individuals that have
physi cal limitations,
helping them to adjust
and cope with the
emotional challenges
that life may throw their
direction. Baseball is not
the only place where
curveballs are thrown,
life has a way of
throwing each of us a
few curveballs and for
some it will even throw
in a few sliders. It may
be an unexpected illness,
a sudden job change, the
death of a spouse. As a
psychologist its my role
to help individuals make
since of these changes
and adjust to the new
circumstances that life
throws their direction.
