Drive through the picturesque countryside to Munnar. Enroute visit KALADY - Adya Shankarachrya Birth place. Muunar is having the mountain scenery, once known as the High Range of Travancore; the hill station of Munnar is the commercial Centre of some of the world's highest tea - growing estates. With its craggy peaks, manicures tea estates and crisp mountain air, Munnar is an ideal retreat. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore this quaint hill station. Overnight stay at Munnar (B, D) Day 2: Munnar Sightseeing Proceed for sightseeing of Munnar where you will enjoy visiting sections of Munnar, which includes Mattupetty Lake which is flanked by steep hills and woods and has been created by the small hydro-electricity dam there. Enjoy a panoramic view of the dam surrounded by wooden hills and tea plantations, visit Echo Point. The evening is at leisure. You can spend time within the hotel and simply enjoying a delicious dinner and maybe in the evening going out for a stroll to the local market. (Private) Located on the shore, it is a Shakti Peetha dedicated to a manifestation of Parvati, the virgin goddess who did penance to obtain Lord Shiva's hand in marriage. The temple and the adjoining ghat, situated overlooking the shore, attract tourists from all over the world. The sparkling diamond nose-ring of the deity is said to be visible even from the sea. Later visit the Gandhi Memorial - built to honour Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. You can opt a ferry ride to Vivekananda Rock to visit the Vivekananda Rock Memorial - where the great philosopher went into meditation that transformed him into one of the most charismatic spiritual leader of this country. Overnight stay at Rameshwaram (B,D) Day 9: Depart RameshwaramTo Madhurai (250Kms/4 Hrs Drive) Early morning proceed to visit MeenakshiSundareswara Temple- The enormous temple complex is dedicated to Shiva, known here as Sundareshwara and his consort Parvati or Meenakshi. The original temple was built by KulasekaraPandya, but the entire credit for making the temple as splendid as it is today goes to the Nayaks. The Nayaks ruled Madurai from the 16th to the 18th century and left a majestic imprint of their rule in the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple.
