Wandering Warriors Relay Visits Cowra
13 Oct 2014
Website: http://wanderingwarriors.org/
Event Location: Olympic Park, Lachlan Valley Way
In 2013 they walked 1,600kms in 33 days from Brisbane to Birdsville, braving sub-zero mornings in Gatton, Oakey and Dalby and 40-plus
degree days beyond Windorah, raising over $120,000. This year members of the Australian Special Air Service (SAS) Association charity
the Wandering Warriors will tackle the 1,300km Brisbane to Canberra Mega-challenge.
It will be Cowra’s turn on Monday 13 October when the warriors will pass through the town. From 9.00 am to 3.00pm the warriors will host
an Open Day display opposite the Visitor Information Centre and McDonalds on Lachlan Valley Way with a sausage sizzle and BBQ lunch
provided by the local Lions Club.
Wandering Warriors CEO Audie Moldre said the mega-challenge would conclude with a high profile finish on the steps of the Australian
War Memorial on Thursday 16 October, where there will be a plaque dedication for the SAS Regiment.
“The walkers will be supported by soldiers from the Enoggera-based 7th Brigade as well as Special Operations Command and subordinate
units.”
Mr Moldre said he believed the Australian Defence Force and Department of Veterans’ Affairs did a world class job of caring for wounded, injured and ill veterans.
“However, for truly effective rehabilitation and transition back to civilian life, veterans’ care needs community input, support and involvement. You can show your support for our veterans by
donating, buying merchandise or helping to share our message.”
“Our aim is to “care for the carers”; we do not support veterans directly. We provide a strategic fundraising umbrella for charities that are often too pre-occupied with the carer role to do their
own fundraising.
“With the support of corporate Australia and the Australian community, the Wandering Warriors aim to raise badly needed funds for SAS Resources Trust, Commando Welfare Trust, Project
Excalibur, White Cloud Foundation, Young Diggers and the Navy Clearance Diver Trust,” he said.
You can visit www.wanderingwarriors.org to donate, and follow the Wandering Warriors on Facebook and Twitter @WanderingSAS.

The Millthumpers @ The Aussie Hotel
18 Oct 2014
Booking Phone No: 02 6342 1596
Event Location: The Aussie Hotel, Redfern Street.
The quiet Millthorpe village lifstyle has been disrupted of late with the sounds of classic rock.
Self confessed "old rockers", the Millthumpers with Tony Zito on bass and lead vocals, Al Jeffree on guitar and new recruit Steve 'Rocket'
Davis on drums, formed 18 months ago, named after the village the band call home.
Performing what seems an act of devotion, the Millthumpers have been covering classic rock songs around the Central West during the last
few months, purely rocking out to tunes that formed the soundtrack to their adolecence, according to Jeffree.
Despite describing the trio as a 40-somethings cover band, Jeffree assured the Millthumpers have still got it, even going as far as to boast
that Zito has "the best ever AC/DC voice you've ever heard".
"It's sort of a refusal to grow up because music isn't the same anymore. [The 70s and 80s] were such a classic era of music."
The bands' set list includes covers of classic rock acts such as AC/DC, ZZ Top and Deep Purple is their personal homage to what the
Millthumpers believe is the best rock'n'roll ever made
Come and see the Millthumpers at the Aussie Hotel Cowra on Saturday 18 October 8:00pm til late. For more information contact 6342 1596.

Many women in Third World countries suffer from the effects of injuries during

before their bodies are able to cope. A fistula injury means a hole in the bladder or
bowel....which means rejection by their community and even their husbands.....they can lose everything. This team
is working hard to restore the health and dignity of these women and assist in the training of local midwives.
The High Tea will provide Cowra women the opportunity to MAKE A DIFFERENCE. There will be a DVD
explaining this work in more detail and lots of yummy goodies to share. Come along to The Quarry Restaurant Wednesday 29 October 11:00am

The grand days of 19th Century desert exploration were pivotal in the development of inland Australia, and as the young colonies launched
major scientific expeditions into the blank parts of the map, the camel quickly became the choice of transport to explore the inland. 75 years
after the last great desert scientific expedition, Australian Desert Expeditions has tailored a 154 year heritage to furthering our desert
knowledge in the 21st Century.
Admission $25/person ($20/friends of the gallery) includes finger food and afternoon tea. 1:30pm for 2:00pm. Tickets available from the

Africa (MA) is the lead organisation for Andrew’s programs). Katie is visiting Australia to raise awareness of the work of Maternity Africa
and the projects it is undertaking in Africa, many of which are funded wholly or in part by the Barbara May Foundation. She will be speaking
at Sydney & South Western Local Health District hospitals and some fundraising events.
“I am thrilled to visit Australia, and particularly NSW, where so much of the support for Andrew and Valerie stems from. It will be fantastic to
