SCHOOL ATTENDANCE - As you are probably aware, the
government has given schools strict guidance on the
expectations for school attendance which we at Broadlea have
to adhere to. In order to ensure there is clarity, consistency
and fairness, we will be re-issuing to all parents/carers a copy
of our ‘Guide for Parents about School Attendance’. If you have

Last Tuesday the 2 Steve’s visited our
school to talk to the 3, 4, 5 and 6 and gave
them tips and tricks to get better stories.
At the end of the day they sold some of
their books to the children and adults.
There was a workshop for some of the
year 5 and 6 to do some work with them.
There was a competition as well to win a
lunch with the 2 Steve’s. After lunch the
year 3, 4, 5 and 6 met back in the hall for
some more fun and exciting games to play
as the 2 Steve’s got some of the children
involved in a game show making some of
the children dress up into character all the
children enjoyed the day.

The two well-known Steve’s came to our
school for a writing workshop. Steve
Barlow and Steve Skidmore talked to years
3, 4, 5 and 6 and helped them with ways
to get the reader interested and hooked
into their story. Selected children were
chosen to do their workshop and a few
children from each year were picked to eat
lunch with them. At the end of their visit
they sold and signed books for the
children. Everyone enjoyed it and thought
it was a useful day to experience.
“It was a really fun and interesting day
with lots of useful tips and ideas!” said one
of our pupils.

NOROVIRUS
There has been recent concern, that viral gastroenteritis (norovirus) may be
circulating in the community and having an impact on schools.
Good hand hygiene is important to stop the spread of the virus
People are advised to:
- Wash their hands thoroughly using soap and water and drying them after
using the toilet, before preparing food and eating
- Not rely on alcohol gels as these do not kill the virus
Please inform the school if you think your child may be infected with the virus and ensure you
keep them well hydrated.
Please see the website (letters) for more information.
