Local artist Robert Van Steinburg holds BFA degrees
from Syracuse University in Painting, Illustration, and
Art Education. He is a member of the Central New York
Watercolor Society. Van Steinburg’s style is realism and
he occasionally works from photographs he takes when
greater authentic detail is required. But he much prefers
working from his sketches which allow him to be in closer
contact with the surroundings of his subject. His works
have been exhibited at Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts,
Munson Williams Proctor, Adirondack Art Gallery, Art
Center of Old Forge (The View), Herkimer College Cogar
Gallery, and Birdsey on the Cape. Mr. Van Steinburg
is a retired art teacher from Mohawk Central School
and a greeting card and calendar illustrator for Prudent
Publishing, among others.

former industrial facility continues to transform the
historic relic into commercial and industrial space

revenue sources to position the Herkimer ARC for
changes and cuts in government funding. Contract
work for three companies’ industrial packaging and
spool refurbishing projects occupies 70,000 sq.
ft. and maintains 60 jobs. Currently, commercial
space is leased to small businesses including the
Herkimer County Chamber of Commerce, the
Herkimer County Industrial Development Agency,
a fitness center, doctors, lawyers, and more. For

This small production wine is a special selection of
Winemaker Matthew Glynn’s nine most compelling barrels
from Acacia’s cherished estate vineyard: Lone Tree. The
grapes were picked by hand, meticulously sorted at the
winery and de-stemmed. After being vinified separately
in small fermentation lots, the wine was aged in French
oak barrels for 13 months. This multifaceted wine carries
the delicacy and perfume of green tea, earthiness of

pepper. Juicy, rich and varietally expressive, the 2010
impresses for its balance, especially at this price point.
Juicy red cherries, tobacco, flowers and mint linger on
the expressive, layered finish. This is a terrific effort for a
vintage that was very, very hard for Zinfandel. Anticipated
