Let Diana know that, too: [email protected].

lovely voices of the St. David’s Youth Choir, Joyful Noise, and the Youth Choir
from Oak Hill United Methodist Church will join with the talented students
of Patches King’s piano studio to present this special event as a part of Make a
Difference Day, a national community service event. The young musicians will
offer this concert at 10 a.m. in Bethell Hall to benefit our homeless neighbors
through St. David’s Trinity Center. Admission is free with a donation of any of
the following items: new, white tube socks (all sizes); new knit hats; new scarves;

1 to give to Trinity Center women at Thanksgiving. We have 45+ hats and 45+
scarves. Join us in this endeavor! Our next meeting is 10 a.m.-noon. We usually
meet in the Guild Room, but our next meeting is downstairs. You can bring
something to work on, or we will provide you with the materials and/or free
lessons. Contact Judith Cayton at [email protected] for questions.

[email protected] if you would like to set up a ministry table at this event.
NOVEMBER 2 SUN. REQUIEM MASS FOR THE FEAST OF ALL
SOULS: The 5 p.m. service will be celebrated in the Historic Church as the
70-voice Parish Choirs offer the beloved Mozart Requiem as part of this annual
Eucharist. This service is a cherished tradition in the life of St. David’s, and
Mozart’s final composition is one of incredible beauty and tenderness that will
highlight the service. As we remember those who have come before us, we invite
you for this moving liturgy of prayer and celebration. Child care provided.

VOLUME 19, NO. 40
PLANTING THE SEEDS
Did you receive a seed packet and pledge card
tied with green ribbon this morning? The seeds
represent our theme for our 2015 annual giving
campaign, Planting the Seeds. This theme emerged
from discussions on how St. David’s has sprouted
many services in our community over our 167-year
history, including a hospital system, healthcare
foundation, and local non-profits. The “seeds”
those parishioners planted and nurtured over the
years have transformed into vitally needed services
in our community, including Trinity Center and
Next-to-New. Because of the efforts of so many
parishioners who have gone before us, we now have a myriad of important
ministries, such as Wednesday Night Bible Study, Journey Groups, Friday
Morning Moms, Children’s Choirs, and so many more.
It’s now up to us to plant and nurture our own seeds to continue as the “face
of Christ” in downtown Austin, as we have been through the generations.
Today is the first of three Stewardship Sundays. We invite you to join us
today in Crail C at 10:25 a.m. as Steven Tomlinson, playwright and Ph.D.,
discusses “If Money Were Your God, How Would You Know?” Next week,
he will present “Mammon and Mystery.” For each Sunday we will also have
a question for you. Today’s question: What has grown in your life because of
your faith? Stop by the table in the lobby to write your response or you can
post it on our St. David’s Facebook page.
Please plan on returning your pledge card
on Commitment and Ministry Fair
Sunday, October 26. Thank you.

growth throughout our lives. Learn how our attractions can “map out” what is next
in our development, how addressing “Ladies and Gentlemen” elevates an audience’s
behavior, how four faces of masculinity/femininity help us find identity and
fulfillment, and how the masculine/feminine exchange becomes centrally important

the Rev. David Boyd will lead a historical journey to Turkey. Back by popular
demand, Mishi Neubach, who led the St. David’s pilgrimage to Israel in 2013, will
guide us through three primary areas of great importance: Istanbul, the center of
early Byzantium; Cappadocia, the location of the early Monastic movement which
later served as a refuge for Christians who were escaping persecution; and Asia
Minor, which was the location of Paul’s famous journeys. Mishi is a compelling
speaker and teacher with more than 40 years of experience working with Christian
groups. This journey through ancient times will be full of spiritual insights! The fivestar tour includes round trip airfare, first class hotels, deluxe travel accommodations,
and most meals. More details are available in brochures located in the church foyer
or by contacting Dianne Benton at [email protected]. Limited space is
available. Registration is due by January 12, 2015.
TRINITY CENTER: Trinity Center is experiencing a shortage of basic toiletries
given to our homeless neighbors. You may leave donations of travel-sized deodorant,
shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste (and toothbrushes). The center always
needs inexpensive athletic “tube socks” in black or white, as well. Donations may
be left in the red barrel in the hallway behind Holy Grounds.
THANK YOU: To the St. David’s Friday Morning Moms group for sewing
23 underarm mastectomy pillows as a service project for Austin’s Breast Cancer
Resource Center. The hand-sewn pillows will be used post-surgery to decrease
discomfort.
