Sensex up by 87 pts on fag-end Sebi bars DLF, 6 top executives
buying in Metal, IT and Banking from markets for 3 years
MUMBAI, OCT 13 /--/ The
S&P
BSE
benchmark
Sensex recovered by 87
points to finish at 26,384.07
on fag-end buying mainly in
Metal, Bank, IT and Refinery sectors coupled with
higher european cues in
view of better-than expected Chinese data and indication of US index futures.
However, Healthcar e,
Realty, FMCG, Auto and
Consumer Durabale remained under selling pressure. The Sensex resumed
lower at 26,275.07 and fell
further to a two-month low
of 26,092.69 on initial selling in key sectors as India's
industrial
production
growth remained subdued
in August amid foreign capital outflows and sharp fall
in US markets on last Friday.
However, it recovered
afterwards to 26,443.16 before concluding the day at
26,384.07, showing a gain of
86.69 pts or 0.33 pct on fagend buying in view of
higher European cues on
the back of better-than-expected Chinese September
data. It had lost 339.90 points
or 1.28 per cent on last Friday. The NSE 50-share Nifty
also gained by 24.30 points
or 0.31 per cent to finish at
7,884.25.
Asian stocks ended
lower as worries about global
economic
growth
sapped confidence. Key
benchmark indices in
China, Singapore, Taiwan
and South Korea fell by
0.36 to 2.84 per cent while
Hong Kong inched up by
0.24 per cent. Meanwhile,
european markets witnessed a strong rebound
and were trading positively
with France, Germany and
UK indices moving up 0.05
pct to 0.48 pct. The Foreign
Por tfolio investor s (FPIs)
sold shares worth net Rs
719.77 crs on last Friday, as
per the provisional data
from stock exchanges.
MUMBAI, OCT 13 /--/
Regulator Sebi has barred
realty major DLF, as also six
top executives including
chairman K P Singh, from securities markets for three
years, after finding the company guilty of "active and
deliberate suppression" of
material information at the
time of its public offer.
Those prohibited from
the markets including
Singh's son Rajiv Singh
(vice-chairman) and daughter Pia Singh (Whole Time
Director), Sebi said in its order. "I find that the case of
active and deliberate suppression of any material information so as to mislead
and defraud the investors in
the securities market in connection with the issue of
shares of DLF in its IPO is
clearly made out in this
case," Sebi's whole-time
member Rajeev Agarwal
said in his 43-page order. "I
am satisfied that the violations as found in this case
are grave and have larger
implications on the safety
and integrity of the securities market. In my view, for
the serious contraventions
as found in the instant case,
effective deterrent actions
to safeguard the market inte grity. It, therefore, becomes incumbent to deal
with contraventions, digression and demeanour of the
erring Noticees sternly and
take appropriate actions for
effective
deterrence,"
Agarwal said. The company
and its top executives are
found to have violated various regulations including
Sebi's Disclosure and Investor Protection (DIP) Guidelines and the PFUTP (Prevention of Fraudulent and
Unfair Trade Practices)
nor ms. As per the order,
those facing the ban include
T C Goyal (managing director), Kameshwar Swarup
and Ramesh Sanka. All of
these persons, including K P
Singh and his two children,
were part of the top management at the time of filing
IPO documents. About G S
Talwar, who was also a nonexecutive director at that
time, Sebi said it could not
be established whether he
was involved in day-to-day
operations of the company
and and therefore it was giving him "benefit of doubt".
DLF had raised Rs 9,187
crore through its IPO in 2007.
NCDEX to levy risk management
fee on fresh open position
MUMBAI, OCT 13 /--/ National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) today said it has decided
to introduce one time risk management fee on every overnight fresh open position created on its platform.
The levy of Rs 5 per lakh on incremental open position
will be applicable from October 15. However, the exchange
has decided to levy risk management fee only on commodities categorised in list "A" group, a NCDEX release said here.
Group "A" comprises commodities such as soya oil, R M
seed, castor seed, chana, guar, kapas, spices, etc. NCDEX
currently does not levy any risk management fee although
it incurs substantial amount of expenditure to maintain
necessary infrastructure and process for the clients keeping open positions at end of the day, the release said.
Speaking on the move, Samir Shah, MD and Chief Executive of NCDEX, said "every client has different interest
of trade or investment in commodity market. "We have tried
to levy risk management fee only on the group where the
exchange has to put more efforts and incur more expenditure to facilitate risk management service. This fee will
help the exchange provide better services to clients." The
fresh open position value will be computed daily based on
contract-wise incremental open positions and will be collected as exchange dues. However, this fee will not applicable on intra-day transactions in both "A" and "B" group as
well as transactions in "B" group commodities, the release
added.

for sending, while a beneficiary may also not get more
than Rs 25,000 a month,
Sharma said. "We wanted to
make fund transfers for
small amounts as less cumbersome as possible,"
Sharma said. It can be noted
that at present, some lenders like ICICI Bank allow
fund transfers for their own
