As a valued Motability customer, I would like to introduce you to our new and exciting Christmas raffle.
By entering the Motability Christmas raffle, you will have a chance to win a cash prize ranging from our
1st prize of £7,000, 2nd prize of £4,000 and over 50 runners up prizes and you will also be helping
disabled people with a gift in 2015 – the gift of independence.
Many people are not aware that Motability is a registered charity. The money we raise from raffles just
like this is used to provide charitable grants to help disabled people who may need a more complex
mobility solution so that they can then join the Motability Scheme. Please take a look overleaf to see just
how your support can help us to help others and read about James, who has cerebral palsy and has been
a Motability customer since he was four-years-old.
And, if you enter by 17th October, you’ll also be put in a special draw to win a luxury hamper.

How Motability is helping
James to be independent
Wishing you a very merry Christmas
James is 18 and is longing to get out into the
world. He’s taken part in wheelchair marathons,
loves swimming and is studying media and film
studies at 6th form college – following a passion
for films that has stayed with him for most of his
life. Next year James is hoping to pass his driving
test. But James isn’t your ‘average’ teenager –
he has cerebral palsy and has been confined to a
wheelchair all his life.

Why does Motability run raffles and need
charitable donations?
James joined the Motability Scheme in 2001 as a
passenger. James’ mum Sarah says, “As well as
enabling James to get to all the sporting events
he loves, our vehicle has also meant that he’s
been able to take advantage of mainstream
education which has been really important.”
Motability is a registered charity. The Motability Scheme enables disabled people to use their
government-funded mobility allowance to lease a car, powered wheelchair or scooter.
There are many people who need a more complex mobility solution to join the Motability
Scheme, the costs for which may not be covered by their monthly mobility allowance. In
cases like these, Motability is often able to provide help with a charitable grant.
When James became old enough to begin
learning to drive, he applied to Motability for a
charitable grant towards driving lessons. He is
now learning to drive in his own Motability car
which has been adapted to suit his needs.
“Before Motability, I used to be completely
reliant on my parents to take me where I
needed to go,” says James. “I am now able to
take driving lessons in my own

Charitable Grants from Motability
The money we raise from our raffles and fundraising activities is used to provide charitable
grants to support our customers.

like to buy. If you’ve sold tickets to family and friends, please
complete their details on the ticket stubs.
2. Complete the payment slip overleaf. If you are paying by cheque,
please make it payable to ‘Motability’.
3. We are always grateful for any support of our raffles, but to keep
our costs to a minimum we will only write and acknowledge
receipt, if you tick the box on the front of the payment slip.
4. Return the ticket stubs and payment slip in the Freepost envelope
provided making sure we receive them by 4 December 2014.
