PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
The ingress of service water leads to corrosion problems on the steel
deck. To extend the service life span of the steel deck, a professional waterproofing solution had to be installed underneath the asphalt wearing
course.
SIKA SOLUTION AND ADVANTAGES
Sika, in cooperation with SMEDI (Shanghai Municipal Engineering & Design Institute) offered a solution based on a 2 layer, 2-component epoxy
resin based system with approved corrosion protection properties. The
applied system has been tested intensively in the laboratory of SMEDI
and is equipped with an approval according to the German standard
ZTV-ING, part 7, section 4, type 1.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Ningbo Inner Ring Road is a new construction of an elevated highway located in Ningbo/ China. The major part of the construction is a structure
composed of precast concrete elements. The bridge decks which have a
wider span, for example crossings and intersections, are constructed as
steel decks.
