President’s Message Dear Friends, For the dancing enthusiast, moving around a room with grace and harmony to a beautiful piece of music with a wonderful partner is “pure joy”. While some partners are constantly in demand, others stay seated more than they would like. There is no question that the better dancers are more in demand. Let this be a powerful incentive to improve your own skills. Even a poor dancer thinks he is doing well when he is with a good partner. All of us need to keep up our own learning. Ballroom dance requires constant reminders and corrections to technique. Even the best professionals keep learning and polishing their own skills. As amateurs, we are all in a state of progression to better our own technique of lead or follow. There is always more to learn and ways in which to improve our movement and technique. Remember that you learn something from everyone you dance with whether they are better than you, or not. It is actually fun to dance with the different levels of dancers and social dancing is the primary reason many of us began ballroom. Some minor tips that may assist you in dancing more often is to: 1) Say “yes” to anyone’s request. If you decline dances, your chances of being asked are limited. 2) Be nice to your partner. He/She was nice enough to ask/accept your request to dance, so try to be pleasant and enjoy the moment. Always be a considerate, warm and fun-loving partner. Continue to improve your dance skills while remembering to . . . enjoy the process. Let’s keep dancing, Barbara Chapman President, 314-984-8084 [email protected]/stlouisballroomdancers.com November 1 Workshop with Brockman/Marko Mark your calendar for the STLBD workshops to be held Saturday, November 1 at the Kirkwood Community Center.
